Blatantly stealing this from a recent post by @LolBroScience. Recent dissertation study conducted by Brad Schoenfeld, and his comments in article form on some of the conclusions and inferences he drew from the study. The study: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24714538 The article:…

I would only suggest you not pay extra for any BF% measurement capability.

So you're saying you eat Walden Farms under the right circumstances, yes? Then I'll make sure to post in those threads that my friend Kruggeri eats WF in certain circumstances and invite them to PM you for details. Thanks for the correction / clarification! Edit: Actually, rereading your post, I sense some strong emotion,…

I'm not an expert by any stretch - I know just enough to be dangerous. I found lifting weights was fun and worked for me and haven't really attempted to fully understand how to evaluate what is an appropriate bodyweight resistance training program. With the ignorance disclosed, I'd suggest whether a group class with…

I am trying to picture these -- are they RK treats dipped in / covered in Caramel, or is the caramel blended into the marshmallow mix and part of the binding for the individual RKs? I suspect the later, but am really curious.

@Kruggeri (can't quote your post because MFP's forums are so well designed). I guess from now on, on any Walden Farms threads, and I'll be sure to mention my friend Kruggeri eats WF, and will advise all comers to PM you for details!

You've mentioned that Pecan Porter shake before . . . and I must say the visual makes it even more enticing!
-
You know, I find the base a little weak - just not enough really of a whiskey flavor. It is still very creamy, though, and the pecans are awesome. I know GiveMeCoffee is a big fan. I frequently enjoy sipping straight bourbon and tequila, and I think my taste buds are slightly dulled to those flavors when I come across them…

I'm not a serious runner so I am a bit out of my element here. But I don't think any peepy goodness would affect your beach bod for at least a few days, so maybe even start the cleanse during the last few days of your beach vaca?
-
FTFY, because That should hit the beach goal. For the ultra, maybe a Peep cleanse so you get some unprocessed, natural sugars for energy!
-
Log it, and manually change the calories to whatever you like (even 0).
-
Thank you! I don't think there's any doubt at all about that. I think it's harder to track truly progressive overload (especially if your mass is changing over time, up or down), and one might top out fairly quickly depending on one's strength level at program beginning (whereas with weight you can always add it to the…

I do simple yoga only very (very) occasionally (did I mention only occasionally). But I lift weights regularly. With that aside . . . I don't think anyone is arguing that progressive resistance training requires using weights, or am I wrong? The question you all seem to batting back and forth is how much this form of yoga…

Well done, sir!

Unless you really enjoy your diet hitting 145g of protein daily, I wouldn't see any issue with you dropping that down quite a bit. Just like OP, if you're around a hundred grams or so as a target you're probably doing what you can (in terms of protein intake) to preserve LBM as you lose weight. Some people are happier and…
-
I suspect if you strived for somewhere around 100g you'd be doing really well. Even less than that (say 80g) and you're really not that likely to be "actively encouraging lean mass loss" or some other negative goal. Really just bump up your protein a bit and try to do little better at reaching the goal and you should be…
-
That protein goal is likely a bit low for you based on what you described. However, it's not clear you're losing muscle over fat. Are you using some sort of electrical impedance scale or handheld tester to determine BF%? If so, IMHO, ignore it.
-
I am a believer in setting targets for fat and protein in grams (derived from bodyweight and LBM estimates) and then letting the rest fall where they may. In that case, my protein and fat macros are targets, not limits. But of course MFP only uses % for macros. So I determined my protein and fat goals (in grams),…

I'm so confused. Lower calories = healthier?

Yes. ICF is a lot of volume and pretty taxing for a new lifter. Best to build a solid strength platform focusing on compound lifts. I strongly agree to stick with Stronglifts / Starting Strength as a new lifter.

Seriously - this is good stuff! If Acrylics hadn't raved about this, I never would have tracked it down and likely wouldn't have picked it up off a shelf since I am not normally as entranced by chocolate as some other flavors, and it looks amazingly chocolatey (and is). I really, really like this, and the calorie count is…
-
It's really up to you as to how strict you want to be with yourself. I know of MFP folks who try (and often succeed) to hit each macro just about perfectly. I know for myself, I try and hit my fat and protein targets (sometimes do and sometimes don't) and then let the rest fall where they may. If I really wanted to be a…

No sir. I worked my way through what you were saying. And I've been posting in this thread for a bit, and referring to a number of serious discussions and published research. I am uncomfortable with your declarative and odd sentences like "Every scientific paper agrees . . ." and "it prevents it from catabolizing itself"…

It is a simple tip for his people. Did you not read the thread title?
