Sure. But I do know how to use this site - I've been on it for almost a decade, almost as long as you. I find it really helpful in tracking information. I haven't been logging exercise in a long time. I watched my target calories and macros change right after logging a daily weigh-in, for weeks now when I didn't use the…

This may be true - I do not know of this user's specific experience. However, the bug I described also affects macro percentages. When logging weight, other than through the work-around identified in the thread I linked, not only is the user's daily calorie goal reset to an MFP-derived target, but the macro percentages are…

This is a bug that has been uncorrected for 3+ weeks now, and a hilarious one for a calorie and nutrient tracking app / website. See this earlier thread below - there is a workaround listed in the comments there while we wait for a fix.…

This is a bug that's been ongoing for almost 3 weeks now. See this thread: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10888683/daily-goals-change-to-what-mfp-thinks-is-correct#latest Basically, if you update your weight, your goals get reset against your wishes. There is a work-around in the linked thread, but the…

It appears that the extra calories you "earned" from exercise (254 calories) are not being reflected in the overall goal -- i.e., not being added to your daily base goal to reflect a daily "as-adjusted" goal as is normal.
-
FWIW - this morning I was able to change macro split via the app but not via a web browser. Free or otherwise, it is a hilarious bug to have on a calorie and nutrient tracking site / app. And to have it continue for nearly a week! With seemingly very little notice from the user base!
-
Reset via both app and website in same 24-hour period. Seemed to work for one day (i.e. I woke up and the goals were correct compared to prior days' experience). Now broken again - goals reset by MFP.
-
Same here, resets to default goals overnight, every night. True whether I reset goals via app or desktop.

That is seriously my go to for imbibing when being stricter around calorie targets. I don't actually "do shots", but instead order (or pour at home) a double of a nice reposado or anejo tequila, sip it over a bit of time rather than shoot it, and then drink water before I'm allowed to have another.

I happen to have a six-pack of New Belgium Citradelic - 6% ABV -in the fridge that a friend brought over and that we'll consume in a bit. If only he had brought some Grapefruit Sculpin - I'd not be responsible for buying it; it'd be only 1% higher ABV; and therefore the calories wouldn't count!

If you include takeout and workplace cafeteria, about once per day. We (family) do takeout such as a pizza, Chinese food, or taqueria offerings 1 - 2 nights per week, and I'll sometimes add a third night because I am not a huge pasta fan and the rest of the family is (i.e., pasta for you guys and street tacos for me…

FTFY. For Tiny Dancer and Ann - Ballast Point has a great selection of tasty offerings! I haven't tried the Grapefruit Sculpin yet -- almost entirely because I have been shying away from higher ABV beers for a bit, and when I think grapefruit + ale I gravitate to the Otra Vez. Now (especially with warming weather) I will…

If my calorie budget is very tight and I still want to imbibe, I generally sip straight liquor (tequila or bourbon most often). If I have a little more room to play, I might have a cocktail or a beer. I frequently drink wine with meals. As far as beer goes, and avoiding all the usual suspects as far as reduced calories go,…

[emphasis added by me] Not going to wade into the soda wars as they've been done to death before . . . However, I would very much like to see some dogs that, given the opportunity to scarf on some GMO food, would turn away in disgust!

Posting this for the benefit of those in the greater NYC area . . . http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Tipsy-Scoops-Ice-Cream-Barlour-Alcohol-Booze-Murray-Hill-Opening-Weekend--421565963.html?_osource=SocialFlowTwt_NYBrand Opening lines: "As if ice cream wasn't decadent enough, now you can get it infused with booze. A…

I am going to go way, way out on a limb . . . nah, not really. You'll get more or less the same answer from most, I expect. Start lifting yesterday. Lifting, or some other form of resistance training, is one of the best gifts you can give to yourself when staring to lose weight. It's hugely beneficial for a variety of…

I just log what I eat, and consider my calorie goals a daily target / guideline. I never really see my calorie goal (or saw it) as an ironclad rule that involves my "cheating" if I don't meet it on a daily or weekly basis. I see it as a target to lose X per week or month, and if I don't meet it, then I'll end up losing 75%…

There are quite a few "net carb" entries for otherwise US reporting products. These are presumably user-entered by those who look for net carbs (I don't) so caveat emptor.

I have an Omron scale - really old one - that I bought maybe 10 years ago. It uses BIA plus profile facts to estimate BF% -- i.e., it stores personal profiles (gender, height, maybe something else). And I too weigh daily under the same circumstances. I found whenever I thought my BF% was a little high, I just added a few…

My Taylor scale uses two CR2032 batteries (flat round disks). Since you use Prime, consider something like: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-CR2032-Lithium-Coin-Cell/dp/B008XBK7PG/ref=sr_1_7_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1493677278&sr=1-7&keywords=CR2032 -- 20 of the little buggers for less than $9. Especially useful since we have…

Bailey's actually makes a non-alcoholic series of creamers -- I am enjoying Toffee Almond Cream (@ 25 cals per tbsp) as I type this.

Depends. Maybe 50?

Yeah, my "recent foods" is stuck as if it is Thursday afternoon (most recent items are Thursday's lunch). "Frequent" is odd and quite long. All in browser. Mobile app seems normal function (but I mostly use browser).
-
Yeah, you're doing this thoughtfully. Don't be surprised if you lose MORE or LESS than you expect at an average of 1500 cals per day -- MFP and other calculators make a good guess but we're all individuals and we all fidget differently and heat up / cool down differently, and have different ideas of what it means to be…

Yes, I think we're largely in agreement; but I do favor at least 1g per lb of LBM when I am deficit, and target (but usually don't reach, 1.2g / lb LBM. I am relatively lean; I resistance train; etc. -- factors that appear to benefit from higher protein intakes. An older thread I keep in my bookmarks with a fair number of…

There is quite a bit of evidence that when in a calorie deficit (i.e., when actively losing weight) both those targets above would be lower than optimal if one's goal is to preserve lean mass while losing weight.
-
The above chart -- I think of it as the rule of 30 or 40. If a 12 oz can / bottle, 30*ABV gives a good estimate; if a 16 oz (US) pint, 40*ABV gives a good estimate.

Guinness is surprisingly low calorie. I've been enjoying various Gose style beers recently (primarily Anderson Valley Brewing Co. goses, and an occasional Sierra Nevada Otra Vez which is also a gose) -- they are crisp, sour-y ales and typically low alcohol (4.2 - 4.6% IIRC) which also makes them relatively low cal. Much…

You should do what works for you - not disputing that at all (as should all lurkers). But I found it helpful to work at getting better and more confident at estimating calories on meals I didn't prepare myself, including restaurant meals. One of the challenging concepts I struggled with early on when I got serious about…

This strikes me as a healthy attitude! It's also OK to not fit into your daily calorie goal here and there and certainly on special occasions, but I especially support the idea of putting "have a nice meal out with friends / family" over "must eat low calorie option" in terms of relative importance. I enjoy eating out, and…
