There are four macro nutrients -- but almost everyone focuses on the main three: carbohydrate, fat, and protein. The fourth is alcohol. But your outrageous outrage at (correct) information from a thread that's been dead for 4 years is entertaining on a Sunday in any event!

Yes. Agree completely. Logging a McDonald's Egg White Delight is way easier than a homemade scramble of egg whites, mushrooms, spinach, green onions, bacon, sour cream and salsa. But OP - it gets much, much easier. Stick with it a bit and you'll get a lot more efficient and you'll gain a lot more insight into why, and how,…

I am intrigued by your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Interesting. I had a DXA and a Hydro done about 2 hours apart roughly 3 years ago, and my hydro and DXA BF% were within 0.7%. I haven't done any since, but may have to do so at some point just to see the results this time around. Past experiment was here:…

With respect to much of this thread:

Bolded an old comment above. I haven't been eating much ice cream (but the weather is warming up!) And I know this group is just about dead. But if anyone is still checking in . . . Tillamook ice creams are still really good! I bought Marionberry Pie again for my kids but then decided I needed to try it myself to see if…

Maybe 100cal packs of popcorn / kettlecorn. Other times maybe yogurt or jerky or raw veggies. Whatever it is, it needs 20 - 30 minutes "settling" time from consuming. If i am feeling hungry and need something, and I eat something - almost regardless of what it is - if I can hold off from eating anything else for 25 minutes…

In addition to what others have said - alcohol. If you've consumed alcohol, it will add to your calorie total but not show up in macro totals (alcohol is a distinct macro, but not tracked by MFP). Most common reasons for macro / calorie inconsistencies: (1) bad database entries; (2) alcohol; and (3) rounding errors.

Welp, guess OP has received the answers she was looking for . . . and that gives an opportunity for a few funny pictures:

. . . . . . Very succinctly said, especially for covering some complex concepts. I too believe that there are a *lot* of variables (particularly on the CO side), and that they change for us as individuals pretty regularly. To add to the complexity, we're very often not aware of the variables, or the changes to the…

Quoting Iowahawk: "Twitter is bad, but FB is worse. Twitter tells you random strangers are obnoxious *kitten*. FB tells you your friends and family are."

You've been introduced to DOMS -- delayed onset muscle soreness. It should recede as you get into a more regular rhythm of exercise - you mentioned this was your second class. It hits me bad on Day 2 (just like you are experiencing) if I have been sidelined for awhile (injury, example) and then come back to more normal…

Weird - I thought the whole meal prepping business was more complicated. o:)

If 600 cals is too much on any given day, try slimmed-down a burrito bowl. When I eat at Chipotle, I'll usually get a burrito bowl (my basic bowl): no rice; black beans; fajita veggies; chicken (or steak); green (med) salsa; lettuce. That adds up to 310 - 340 cals (steak or chicken). Then, depending on macro needs or…

I would like an explanation here, too, please. My microwave does not produce crispy cheese, even if I choose to quarter it first.

Sip straight tequila / vodka / your favorite spirit. Then water. Repeat. I might have a double tequila; sip it over the course of 5 - 15 mins depending, and then have a pint of water before the next tequila.

Didn't get through the whole thread, but several pages without a key link (and embedded link therein) on why this post seems to make so much sense on a casual reading, but is actually so, so wrong: https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2014-07-24/everyone-wins-when-you-buy-a-rotisserie-chicken

Male. 5'9". Mine was 5.6 lbs. Don't even know what BMC is exactly.

I am a believer in weighing every day, in the AM, after bathroom but before anything else. I weigh every day, but I keep my eye on the trends by looking at 3 / 5 / 7 day averages. As I began tracking every single day, I got used to the normal fluctuations (up and down 5 lbs sometimes) and the individual data points of a…

Indeed - those are real tacos. Not sure what the first picture was, but it was NOT a proper taco.

Ahhh -- I misunderstood the question, then. But I'd still answer that glycogen = carbohydrate. You have a macronutrient (carb, or fat, or protein) that is processed into something else, and is stored in a certain manner and in a certain place. It's not as simple as ingesting, and then shuttling to a storage place. To…

Ballpark it. And drink it often enough to start to get a sense of what you're consuming / about to consume.

Why should the macronutrient make-up of a food (meat) have anything to do with how your body processes the macronutrients you ingest?

So I just had my second portion of the Tillamook Choc Covered Strawberry Gelato. I am a big fan of Tillamook's Marionberry Pie ice cream, but I have to give the gelato a solid thumbs down. The first serving was obviously from the top of the pint -- and it was covered in chocolate fudge chunks to the point of being too…

Anyone not on the west coast have access to Tillamook yet? I have enjoyed several of their ice creams, and I wandered by the ice cream section in my local supermarket and saw they've branched out into "Farmstyle Gelato." I picked this up despite it (1) not being on sale and costing $5+ for 15.5 oz (not even a full pint!)…

A chunk of it is water weight for sure, for the reasons others have already pointed out. But there is also likely some additional weight loss that is not attributable to "water" or to fat loss. Most people who begin a focused weight loss effort also lose weight (as in purely a scale measure) because they have, on average,…

Ignore - wrong thread.

Old married guy, but maybe thoughts on the drinks will help . . . since you like dark beer, Guinness Draught is delicious and one of the lowest calorie beers widely available that isn't some light lager. 125 Cals per 12 oz, so 166 cals per pint (US). It's low cal partly because it's lower alcohol (4.2%), so it might also…

I tried the B&R Milk & Cereal -- I am a sucker for the idea of frosted flakes in ice cream. It was very good as a flavor but there were a pair of bites that had a bit of freezer burn taste. I chalk that up to my crappy B&R in town. One girl child had Quarterback Crunch, and the other weirdo went with neon sherbets.
