^^ Key point that I think is often overlooked in the forums.

I lease out a quarter acre in Sumatra. Organically-raised, carefully-tended beans are the only way to go. Perkasa and his family manage it for me; he can’t always be there but his daughter is our backstop – she makes sure to harvest the beans at the right time. After picking, the beans are left to soak on fresh banana…

I get it OP and I think there's a real message in your post. "Bro science" as I think you're using it and in my attempt to try and translate it into modern lingo, is basically crowd-sourced, experiential information; the same as lots of human knowledge. Some of it is correct; some of it is flat out wrong; some of it is…

Your first post, plus now having read Waldo's guide indicates that you're pretty much on your way!

Yeah - like others have said - mashed potatoes, creamed veggies with lots of butter, and be sure to add ice cream and a lot of protein powder to your milkshakes; boiled eggs (hard or soft); maybe you could do like pulled pork for protein as well.

That will be very helpful, and may allow you to do a slight surplus pretty effectively. One real risk (and therefore one thing to watch out for) is having your supposed surplus "disappear." It is not uncommon for our bodies to unconsciously increase our average NEAT burns when presented with a smallish surplus -- i.e.,…

Pork is inherently triggering and/or offensive to so many that I, like other reasonable folks, choose to read that right out of neanderthin's statement. YMMV.

I think you meant to say "reducing body fat in a sustainable, healthy, socially responsible way" for your "patriarchal, oppressive, colonialist" that you're about to have.

Quickie for sweets thread . . . We had some house-made Mexican sweet breads (Conchas / Pan Dulce) before lunch at a little foodie restaurant. Once vanilla and one chocolate. Sweet; the bottom was crisp and thick with sweets; the inside was light and a cross between bread and donut. Yesterday my wife and I ditched the kids…

Quickie -- the internet is extremely unreliable at the moment. Chicken enchiladas from lunch yesterday or the day before. And, as weird as it sounds, I had an excellent falafel-in-pita here in PDC. One of the dive masters working at the dive shop we're using suggested giving it a try -- turns out it is one of the most…

There's a traditional french bakery / patisserie here in PDC and my wife and I stopped for a light breakfast after getting the kids away for diving training. I went with a 1/4 baguette with butter and jam. This qualifies as a "sweet" IMHO because the house-made mango jam was unbelievably sweet and tasty on a warm fresh…

My trip to Playa del Carmen is a bit of a bust so far (but not for the kids). There is a strong and unusual north wind that has closed the harbor to small diving boats, so no ocean dives in the first two days. The alternative is ceynote diving (fresh water underground / exposed to caverns / lagoons), but with my kids'…

I tried to give a long-winded answer that might help explain it. What you're experiencing has nothing to do with metabolism. Not sure why you think it does in any way. (Your use of "turbo booster" and "loose" makes me think you're really just trolling now. If not, apologies).

I will hold off on a booze cleanse for now. Partly because I'm not sure it fits in this group; partly because I'm not sure it fits many folks' macros or training goals; and partly because I just settled into Playa del Carmen, Mexico just south of Cancun for a quick family spring break trip. My kids are (hopefully) going to…

Don't wig out about your scale weight after enjoying that enticing taco salad. Unless you're regularly eating a high sodium diet daily, I'm guessing that the amount of sodium in the taco salad may make you retain water for a few days. Nothing wrong with that at all - just don't want you to freak out after a great taco…

Excluding "lite" beers, Guinness is actually one of the lowest calorie beers widely available, and it even compares very favorably on a calorie basis with many "light" mass-market American / Internationally-available beers (like Bud Light, Coors Light, Corona Light, Heineken Light, etc.). Heck, even Clausthaler…

You mentioned in the other thread that you tend to stay away from fried foods and bread generally. If, during the course of your weight loss efforts you've been relatively low carb, and especially if you're regularly doing any sort of exercise (even walking), then a big chunk is likely to be due to the fact that you've…

Another . . . And what really gets me is the "slighty warm peanut butter rice crispy treats . . ." Another poster (maybe I_Will_End_You) tried a caramel rice crispy treat, so now I have two rice crispy treats to make (but a peanut allergy in the family, so this may have to wait). Just as soon as I make…

Sorry for your loss, mathjulz. Have we started the booze cleanse? 'Cause I've had a number of these Valtellina Shandies this afternoon after a cousin's first communion (Catholic rite; and not technically a cousin - I think a second cousin once removed, junior). My uncle (not technically an uncle - I think a first cousin…

These threads always make me wonder if I have defective taste buds. Sucralose, aspartame, saccharine, etc. taste fine to me - no bitterness or other surprising taste. So I don't really give a fig whether its in something I'm eating or not.

It's been a long time since I went to a DQ -- but several years back, and outside the US even in an international airport DQ, they were turning their blizzards upside down to show off before they handed it to you!

Dinner last night at a local Italian joint with my wife and a friend. Didn't snap any of the lovely "shrimp and grits" (shrimp over polenta in a creamy sauce) nor the thin crust wood-oven fired house-made fennel sausage pizza I had for the savory thread. But I did remember to snap a shot of the cannoli before the ladies…

This thread delivers!

I think recomping is a great plan. Nothing at all wrong with recomping. Nothing at all wrong with deciding that bulk-cut cycles don’t make sense. And similarly, nothing at all wrong with instead adopting a bulk-cut cyclical approach either. Once again, individual circumstances will determine what might make the most sense.…

As others have said, I think you should talk to a doctor. Just posting to say that "collywobbles" is my new favorite word.

Indeed! And auddii would too! May not be much of a challenge for us, though! This Spring Cleanse actually forced me to eat sweets every day whereas I might otherwise have skipped numerous days - generally not a problem I encounter when thinking about a glass of wine or some sipping tequila every day.
