I've also heard "act as if" in relation to a higher power.
-
That's plenty. Unless you are training for the Olympics you are doing wonderful.
-
Since you mention OA I think you should check out the podcasts and go to a couple of meetings on or offline. Your higher power can be anything. Many members came in as atheists and have defined their own higher power. Don't let that keep you away.

I would not call you a pig. I'm learning to recognize that tug that I want to interpret as "eat" but is most likely bored, frustration, celebration, stress etc. I find at 9:30 at night I often want to think I'm hungry but if I don't get a snack amazingly I wake up in the morning just fine and I am not starving and maybe…

True hunger and emotional eating can feel the same. Learning to tell the difference is key.

You're eating a lot snacks. Even though some of them are healthy I get the impression that you are grazing all day long. That's not going to be a good way lose weight. And unless you are logging as you eat them, it's very easy to forget one. For example if some one brings cookies to work and you pop one into your mouth on…

If I go shopping for several hours I sometimes enter it as 20 or 30 minutes. I don't eat back my activity calories at all. As long as I'm not hungry I don't think my body needs them.

The tricky part is knowing yourself. Just pissed off someone for advising not to enjoy a donut on upcoming birthday. Us fat people can be so defensive.

Obesity maims and kills people. The OP profile stated she had to lose weight before the doctor would do knee replacement. She is in the 7th decade if her life. (0-10 years is your first decade) If she decides she can have "just one" on many more occasions she may easily return to old ways. I know too many people who have…

You have an amazing attitude. Confidence is very attractive. There are a lot people with unhealthy bodies ( weight issues or otherwise) who would gladly trade their situation for a little loose skin. May you continue to enjoy your weight loss and may good things come your way.
-
Did you read her profile? She's married to a minister and has limited mobility due to her lifelong weight issues.
-
If after all this time one sugary treat every few months does not trip you up, I would say good for you and don't feel bad about it.
-
How often do you look at your phone during the day? Does it ever leave your side? Judging from your first paragraph, most people I know must have a problem.
-
Being organized is out of the ordinary. You are extraordinary! Good for you. Your doctor doesn't have much of a table side manner. Hopefully he is very good at the science of medicine and you can ignore his lack of excitement about your proactive health tracking. Don't let it bother you and keep up the good work.

And for some people willing to give up certain foods that trigger overeating. Like sugar for some of us.
-
At meetings they talk about "willingness. " Something to think about.
-
Why doubt the OP? It is possible this person is extremely obese. Dropping foods that they may have binged on may have truly led to this weight loss. The bigger you are the more weight you can quickly drop initially. Some people don't eat just 1 or 2 pieces of cake, they eat the whole cake at one sitting. Have you ever seen…

Top weight and age also play a role. If a person has spent decades at say more than 200 pounds overweight, it's unrealistic to expect their body to bounce back to a youthful look. I realize this doesn't apply necessarily to the original poster but a lot of people read these posts and we all need to realize that what's…

As individuals we are only able to work on our own weight and health issues. We may be able to support and help others but it's unrealistic to think we're going to cure the rest of the world.

I think you are looking for permission for an old fashioned binge. You are using your birthday as an excuse for what you know in your heart is not a good idea. By your own admission you have struggled with your weight all your life. Is it worth that chance of reversing all your hard work for a donut? Our bodies can only…

Some people can eat treats in moderation; some cannot. By the posters own admission, she "tries" to limit how many. I believe her own profile reveals she has a lot if trouble limiting food and this is a lifelong struggle. Greatly reducing the sugar is a great first place to start. Also identify those other trouble foods…

How many treats are you having? Are you measuring it and accurately logging it? Are you drinking lots of soda or other sugary beverages? Are you also adding sugar to your recipes, coffee, tea etc? Sugar can be a sneaky thing. Probably having one treat each and every day is too many.
-
I would drop beverages with artificial sweeteners. Your body may react to it like it's sugar.
-
Also double check the packages with the nutritional info on here. It can change over time and it can also be entered in accurately in the past. Look at the individual items and see if the are truly worth the calories / sugar as opposed to looking for a healthy alternative. Beverages can be especially deceiving. Enter your…

What does 6 months to go mean?

I've always thought the shouting caps was stupid and didn't acknowledge diversity ie vision issues or people who hadn't spent hours on the Internet learning the "rules." I've heard members contribute their new attitude to getting away from the sugar. Remember the Twinkie defense court case?

I don't think food rewards is a good idea for me. I'm trying to explore healthier foods and maybe spend more on those as a lifestyle change. Getting to wear my smaller sized clothes and feeling healthier is reward enough. I think a small wardrobe item along the way could be okay.

One year they had 3 plans. The first year of the points you had a choice between points and Fat & Fiber or something like that. Back in the 90s. People were complaining the fiber gave them gas (and I think constipation) and they really had to watch to make sure they drank water. I was a member for a year and became…

Good point about the continued tracking. Most people stop at some point. Anyone who likes one of their old programs could still use it. They don't confiscate your booklets. The claim they have new research every year. I would call it new marketing. I find it hard to digest that every year they would have enough new science…
