  • For the next and final week of our challenge I'm going back to a more traditional and somewhat less exciting garden salad. Mixed greens, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, red onion, garbanzo beans, pumpkin seeds, and ranch.
  • This week's salads will be full of seeds and berries. Kale, cucumbers, goji berries, hemp hearts, chia seeds, and pumpkin seeds. Topped with poppy seed dressing. I've managed to have a salad every day so far. On a few occasions I've gotten bored and had a small side salad with soup or a shake.
  • My most interesting salad last week was a buffalo ranch salad I threw together quickly on my lunch break. Chickpeas, greens, red onion, avocado, brusseles sprouts, just ranch, franks hot sauce, and dried parsley.
  • That sounds good. I'm curious about goji berries but haven't tried them yet. They sound good but also expensive. I probably would have bought some over the weekend but the were sold out.
  • My favorite salad this week was a taco salad. Mixed greens with black beans, jalapeños, cheese, meatless crumbles, a little sour cream and salad. Oh and tortilla chips crushed and mixed in. I actually made a taco dip Monday and used the leftovers to mix in. I also had salad at a wedding party with kale, cabbage,…
  • I think that sounds great. A good variety of vegetables. I get bored of greens and dressing and need all the other vegetables to make something I actually enjoy!
  • Hey all! Thanks for joining. As part of this challenge, will you each share your favorite salad of the week (let's aim for Sunday/Monday for updates)? That might help give others new ideas for the week ahead. Also share your general success with the challenge and any tips questions. Glad you're here.
  • I'm not a huge fan of salads either, but getting creative with them has helped. Sometimes I make more of a salad bowl with quinoa, hummus, and mixed vegetables. My other favorite is taco salad.
  • I'm aiming for one salad every day for 30 days. Today is day one for me! Thanks for joining.
  • That's totally fine. I want this to be a flexible challenge that fits the needs of anyone participating. Glad to have you!
  • Let's do this! SW:231 December 2: GW 191
  • I didn't have any trouble giving up meat and I love fish and venison. It's been three years and the only time I've had meat on my plate is when it was accidentally served to me at a restaurant. Dairy was a pretty easy transition although I miss the convenience of things like cream of mushroom soup and the social aspect of…
  • another student, vegan, runner here! Friend request on its way!
  • sounds delicious
  • I don't know the answer but I've wondered the exact same thing about yoga. Sometimes it feels like I'm not doing anything and my HRM will have calculated a 200 calorie burn...maybe we'll get an answer
  • Volleyball! It's competitive and fun. You burn more calories than you would probably think and it doesn't require running. Most adult rec teams just meet for games or maybe practice once a week it just depends on the team.
  • you guys have been a big help, thanks for the info! I'm still looking around my area!
  • Thanks everyone I'm going to look into Jujitsu and Taekwondo. Money will be a factor (I've read that martial arts can get expensive) I'll have to see what I can afford! Thanks again for the info!
  • Did you read the prequel that came out this summer? Earth Unaware? Favorite book of all time: Frankenstein and 1984
  • quoted the wrong thing, see next post
  • Ok great, I'll look around here for some introductory/free classes. Are there any good resources for learning about the different types of martial arts or did you just learn in the studio?
  • I bought the FT7 for $65 on amazon and it comes with a chest strap. It stores more workout than the FT4, I'm not sure if there are other big differences...

  • I love endangered species dark chocolate with espresso beans. I like to have a few squares with my black coffee. Yum!
  • Hey you're another MN girl! I want you to know that you can lose weight by eating more than 1200 calories. If you are working out six days a week, your body is going to need more fuel. That's basically what food is, fuel. I have lost about 30 lbs since March and I eat a lot more than 1200 calories a day. Feel free to take…
  • I use mine to puree soup ingredients and make guacamole!
  • I was going to ask this question too! Any links to product pics and info could be helpful or specific brands and material types would be awesome!
  • I considered getting one of their cards to save on this charge. Now that it's no longer a benefit I don't see a reason to get a card.
  • at least two cups a day...I'm a snob in my own house but I don't care when I'm out or when it's free! oh and black coffee for me please.
