I don't have a kid in the mix, but I encountered the same problem. At first, I'd nag the hell out of him to stop drinking soda, eating fast food, and sitting on his *kitten*. He knew what he was doing was harmful to his health, but...we all know it's really hard to change your lifestyle. Luckily, he loves to cook, so I…

Bulleit! Yum. Also, I love me some Makers Mark.

Welcome! I've been actively dieting most of my life as well, it's quite depressing. If MFP has taught me anything, it's that I need to be mindful of how much I eat (holy crap, I eat like 2200 cals a day if I don't track!). Baby steps, and maybe up your cal intake to 1500 to start. Exercise and you can eat even more. A…

Hobby Lobby can suck a fart. They don't sell Chanukah items and they wouldn't provide for my birth control if I was brainwashed enough to work for their mediocre bassackwards company. I'll take my money to Joann's and Michael's.

I take a few hours every Sunday (after my weekly shopping) and I prep everything I need to make it through the work week without derailing. I make egg muffin cups for breakfast, salads, grilled chicken, big batch of brown rice, etc. I pretty much cook everything that I need to cook for the week on Sunday, and I make enough…

I get it. I quit smoking about ten years ago, and my partner recently quit chewing tobacco. My transition from smoker to non-smoker was hard, but I just stayed away from all of the things that I used to do...no bar hopping for the first few months, no drinking...period, started walking on my breaks, and I always had a mint…

I used to weigh myself every morning (dry weight is best = no clothes, just stepped out of bed) and it would fluctuate so wildly that it made me crazy. Just crazy. Now that I have less weight to lose, I weigh myself twice a month so I can actually see progress (and now I'm not crazy).

Hahahahaha. I live about 40 minutes away from where he was arrested. I can attest to the fact that Stockton is full of thugy thuggersons, that's just the life he grew into. I think Calvin Klein should post his bail and get him a lawyer...and some laser treatments.

I can't do 1200 calories to save my life. I need at least 1500 or I'm going to murder everyone in sight because I'm so HANGRY. However, everyone is different. So, don't be discouraged. Eat enough to not be HANGRY and get some sweat time in, you'll lose weight in no time.

Honestly, pineapple makes almost any green smoothie more tolerable. Maybe try less ingredients, and try sticking to the same color scheme. If you add red (beets, etc) to a green smoothie it will turn a super gross brown color and just look unappetizing. I try to keep smoothies to 5 ingredients or less, the apples and…

I had this happen to me yesterday on my way to work. This girl had along side of me in traffic for several blocks, she zoomed up past me and went to parallel park AS I'M IN THE BIKE LANE. ***** almost backs into me. I yell at her and flip her off on my way past, so what's she do? FLIP ME OFF AND SMILE. I parked my bike,…

FREE DAY! Yes, I've been doing it forever. And, I've had it actually recommended to me by trainers and nutritionists.

Greatest thread of MFP...EVER. And, STAR TREK FTW!!! Kirk, out.

Looks fade over time, you deserve better! Punch him in the junk and run the other direction.

Bar Method or yoga will change your shape. I've watched myself (yoga) and a good friend (bar method) change drastically over the last few years. Yoga lets you tone without bulking up. And, it's great for your brain!

Yes, what jillyrobb said. You can't have a kickboard in the triathlon, no sense in using it to train (exclusively). You can still use it to work on your kick, but...eh...I swam for 20 years, I hardly ever used a kickboard. One piece of advice: if your triathlon swim is in open water, I suggest a few training sessions in a…

You got it! And, we can all relate. Welcome!

Yes, the calories are off. I no longer have a heart rate monitor, but I use this calculator: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.php and it seems to be pretty accurate (compared with what I was burning when I had a HRM, and compared to my Nike+ calculations).
