  • Well done. You have steamed on and pushed for success! I am so glad you have succeeded!!!!! :flowerforyou:
  • Congratulations!:flowerforyou: I'm about half way too. Keep going!!!
  • I would have thought that the medication would work regardless of what you ate. Infact I know that that is usually the case. I'm a nurse and my husband has extremely high cholesterol when untreated and he takes his meds and eats all kinds of rubbish - he's not interested in a healthy way of eating, and his cholesterol is…
  • Its all been said. Your gorgeous, he's very plain and rather unattractive. He sounds like a **** and you are too trusting. Get slim! He'll probably turn into a jealous idiot and then you'll see him the way he is.
  • Nice to meet you Andrea. There's so much helpful info around MFP. All the best with your journey!
  • I started on 1200 cals. I lost weight and then started to stall, I took the plunge and upped my calories and kick started the weightloss again. I also exercise now - the 1st 4 months I couldn't exercise due to injury but started exercising 4 months ago. Anyway, there isn't anything wrong with 1200 cals just like some have…
  • Relate to your topic completely!!! :flowerforyou:
  • Hi Danielle. I just hang out around here occasionally and read the topics, see whats happening and try to relate. I've managed to avoid emotional over eating for about 9 months now. I find logging my food and eating regular meals has helped me enormously. I needed to lose weight for medical reasons so that focus has also…

  • The future starts to day, to sound a bit trite I guess but, moving on now is the way to go. You've acknowledged your feelings and congratulations in not going back to a failed relationship just because it seems right at the time. Or because somebody else thought its a good idea!:flowerforyou:
  • You look fabulous!!!! Congratulations - almost a different person.
  • Congratulations for having a go. One day at a time you can achieve change - no ones perfect. The good thing about logging food here on MFP is you can see where your foods heading. You can programme the food diary to log the goals your doctor wants you to meet - just put them in manually. I have adjusted mine to a lower…
  • I use this one but there are plenty on the internet. Try a couple they'll all come in around the same type of numbers. http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html
  • I'm 55 and 5ft 4 ins and my TDEE is 1900 cals. My BMR (basal metabolic rate which is what you need if you are a functioning body lying in a bed) is 1596. You've got your numbers totally wrong. Your TDEE would be around 2000 cals. at least and more of course if you are exercising.
  • KNow how you feel, did it every morning after night shift - to the bakery etc. Eat more at lunch or have a snack ready for you in the car - something nutritious but satisfying. Fruit or some nuts or both. Afternoon hunger is very common, you are actually ready to eat then so have a good snack.
  • Exercise is exercise. Swimming is terrific exercise. I swim (currently) 2.3 kms / 46 laps x 6 times a week. Each session takes around 60 - 70 minutes of continuous swimming. I am losing weight every week. If you want to use exercise to lose you have to do a fair bit of it. I eat 30% below my TDEE because I have a large…
  • Suggest you must weigh absolutely everything that you eat. Otherwise its practically impossible to gain weight. Exercise doesn't mean a lot unless you are doing a lot of it. Calorie deficit is how we lose weight. I gained temporarily around my birthday cause I ate (with in calorie range) more junk food than I normally…
  • Congratulations, you look wonderful:wink:
  • As Those cals are low. Look up some guidelines as people fail because they are too stringent. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/952996-level-obstacles-lose-weight-target-fat-easy http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/912920-in-place-of-a-road-map-3-2013…
  • Hi! I'm working on my lifestyle changes and can say, have a go. Probably don't attempt too much all at once. Easy does it. I am feeling very positive as I have been moderating my eating for over 8 months (I count and log everything here on MFP) and have been exercising for 4 months. I haven't over eaten or binged in that…
  • I have gone to OA on and off for many years. I am currrently in fairly close contact as I am actively trying to remain stopped from compulsive over eating. It helps as part of my regime of lifestyle changes the people there understand trying and failing and trying and whatever. It doesn't endorse any particular way of…
  • Its all been said. Focusing on health has been more successful than superficial stuff like looks for me. Slow and steady wins the race, strangely enough. I didn't exercise to start with, if you want get one of those step counters try that but honestly calorie deficit loses more weight to start with. I now swim cause its…
  • I swim 60-70 minutes continuously x 6 times a week. I consider it light intensity - mainly cause no one could swim hard for that long. The MFP says around 700 -750 cals. I don't eat them back most of thie time, sometimes I eat some if I'm hungry. Its boosted my weightloss upwards, I'm a 55 year old woman and need all the…
  • Weightloss is primarily a calorie deficit. You must weigh all your food and record everything. I find highly refined carbs (junk food basically) makes weightloss more difficult for me. I eat a whole food diet and to my calorie goal. MFP tends to give you a good numbers to work out your intake needs. You must be rigorous in…

  • I work 10 hour permanent night shifts. I'm not a big night time eater ie I don't get hungry during the night. I'll eat something though if I get hungry. I'm flexible. I eat a breakfast style meal towards the end of my shift (around 0600hrs) because I swim after work. I have a meal when I get up in the afternoon, sometime a…
  • Hi, I truly know how you feel. Christmas 2012 I started over eating again and could not stop. It was very difficult - I knew this wasn't any good but felt powerless to stop. I listened to some meditations that Jon Gabriel produced which I found extremely useful. I had also read his book. These meditations helped me focus…
  • Hi, I finally decided to do something about my health. I have always over eaten and whilst I was aware of this I was reluctant to stop. I wanted to stop the consequences of eating too much, not the behaviour. I've tried in the past and had mixed success. I turn to food for emotional comfort, Like you I have eaten when sad,…
  • I class myself as a compulsive over-eater. I have always been pre-occupied with food, I have always eaten far more than I need, I have used food for many reasons, emotional, stress whatever. I focuss on eating at least three moderate meals a day and acknowledge that I don't really intuitively know what to eat like some…
  • Put it into MFP exercise. Mowing with a motorised push mower comes in around 600 cals an hour. Most weeding and lopping and digging has impressive calorie burn look it up. Its all exercise.
  • Portion control may be your answer. I avoid most sugar/ highly refined carbs becasue they are useless calories, nutritionally poor. I eat modest portions of it and fit it into my day, particularly in the evenings as I seem to look for that stuff most then. I stopped eating it completely for more than a month last sept. and…
