  • I've got no advice but just wanted to express how sorry I am that you've lost your hairy babies. We've got three and in Tassie we have to dodge Tiger snakes. They are always heading to water if they cross our yard. We've been lucky so far.:flowerforyou:
  • I am menopausal now but prior to that in the past I was plagued by a 1 kilo (2.2lb) gain leading up to my periods. Its likely fluid of course. It used to drive me crazy. I never found a solution. I used to weigh myself once a month (in the end) a week after my period and always showed a net loss for the month. I found this…
  • Smaller bodies! that's the key. If you love eating large amounts of food don't expect a tiny body. A friend got to her goal weight and decided that the calories required to stay there were to few to her liking - now of course she could have exercised more - however she chose to gain a few more kilos and enjoyed her…
  • I note that you aren't eating enough. Perhaps you can fit some of that bread in that you love. Exercise is good for your fitness and health but doesn't have that great an effect on weight loss. I can't exercise because of a knee injury and am losing weight. Be kind to yourself. Don't worry too much about the exercise just…
  • Yes, calorie deficit is how you lose weight. Exercise is for health and fitness with some weight loss benefit. I injured my knee in September and have lost 12.5 (27.5 lbs) so far without much exercise - none really. I am waiting for the ok before I do anything.
  • My eating was out of control before September last year. I ate a lot of junk food. I made a decision to stop over eating because my knee got injured. Its not easy to stay stopped. Just for today, one day at a time I have stayed stopped. (poor english I know). I get cranky and sometimes I don't know what to do with myself -…
  • You are already within your healthy BMI, 115 is the lower end of your healthy BMI. ask the goal setter supplied with MFP. Don't go to low calorie wise cause you will just put it back on.
  • Jon Gabriel's The Gabriel Method. Good food for thought. He also has a web site with lots of helpful information. I have his 21 days meditations that I listen to constantly - a great resource. "Weightloss for Food Lovers" by Dr George Blair-West - he also has a website. Excellent practical advice on how to change your…
  • Terrific!!:flowerforyou: I feel so inspired
  • Tamar Valley greek style yoghurt no added sugar - 62 cals per 100gm, 2gm total fat. (Tasmanian brand) Several flavours - just the best! thick, delicious. With a fruit syrup style through it.
  • Hi, I'm Gael from Tassie. I'm 54 and I've been on MFP for about 4 months. I'm a night shift worker and nurse. I've got a lot of weight to lose.

  • Everyone here has got a bit of the story right. It is calories in calories out. Too many highly refined high glycaemic index ( they break down very FAST and are absorbed VERY fast) carbs can cause insulin resistance. I'm talking white bread, junk food, cheesecakes, mcdonalds, white rice (strangely enough) sugar sugar,…
  • A lot of people don't eat back their exercise cals. Having said that 1200 is hard to maintain for the long haul. I'm sedentary due to injury and go for 1300 which I often reach or am very slightly under, I'm an older woman though. Before coming here, if you were over weight you easily at more, so get serious. Maybe you eat…
  • Get back on track! You can do it. don't give up trying to change, it will get better. You have done it before you can do it again. Its the maintenance bit that you got wrong, not the losing. :flowerforyou:
  • Its Monday in Australia, Disappointed that I didn't lose and in fact appear to have gained yesterday. Felt bitterly disappointed but am over it 24 hours later. Its one of those tings. I am not doing rigorous exercise due to a knee injury and wont be until I am lighter, however I may try something like water aerobics if…
  • My sister started on Metformin and immediately felt better because she was absorbing her carbs/sugar effectively. You should feel a boost in energy and feel less tired. Watch your blood glucose regularly as things will change as you go on. Weight loss is the most effective way to improve insulin resistance / Type II…
  • Emotions need to be understood. Not eating them can help you identify whats really the issue. I've eaten my feeling most of my life. Its a complex issue but with a desire to change I've stopped (this time since Sept.) Its just for today sort of thing. I'm no big expert. I hope I can keep going. I get a bit…
  • Night shift worker. 2200 to 0800. Midnight is my new day. Bed first thing in the morning, usually without breakfast. If I'm ravenous I will have some breakfast. Don't eat at work because I don't get hungry, pretty flexible though. Stick to my calorie allowance. Meal when I get up in the afternoon, meal in the evenng. Then…
  • Like mentioned by the previous, exercise is great for health and fitness, building muscle and toning but comes a very poor second in weight loss compared to calorie deficit.
  • Nice poem.
  • FUNNY kind of left when you're still here.::bigsmile:
  • I'm shorter, a woman, can't exercise because of my knee and I'm losing weight AND EATING MUCH MORE THAN THIS. I think you're a bit silly:laugh:
  • Mine was deciding to get moving. I started walking on a flat track near the river in very good walking shoes with my two dogs and damaged my left knee - in a nasty way. Pathetic is what I thought. Too fat to walk!
  • Check out exercise/ calorie amounts for the things you do. Buy a pedometer if you can and see how many steps you take. Your walking a minimum of 30 mins, so its not sedentary.
  • I pretty much stopped junk food in September. Yesterday I had the healthiest option Domino's pizza - planned into my day as we had the kitchen floors done and I couldn't get into the kitchen. I prefer eating my own food because I can prepare and eat much nicer meals that way. Most eating out is a disappointment these days…
  • I'm sedentary due to injury, shorter and heavier and my intake is 1300cals. I find it effortless to get to 1300 sometimes am under by 100 or so. i am losing weight every week! 800 day after day will make you screaming hungry. Weigh everything that you eat. If you find it hard to 800 how did you get moderately overweight?
  • I work permanent nights (10hr nights) usually 4 on 3 off but that can vary. My routine is very similar to above. My first night on I don't sleep before either. I start and finish my eating day at midnight as it fits around my hours the best. I eat most of my food at home before starting work. I tend not to eat much at work…
  • People die of their food problems - so grossly obese they are pulled out of their houses by cranes, its not so simple.
