Picked up running, also do kickboxing and Zumba. I attribute most of my being toned now to going to a personal trainer for strength training once a week for past 8 mons

I've had this happen to me a few times. There are just those days occasionally, where it's like you're so bummed and down that you're sick to your stomach and don't want to eat. I'm a journalist and this most recently happened to me when I had to work during the Conn. school shooting. Seeing those parents getting up and…

I have it and found out a couple years ago that my thyroid was basically not functioning. I stay on my meds and have lost 67 pounds, so no issues for me.

I officially weigh in once a week, but I actually weigh myself every day. I want to stop doing that though since I get annoyed with the fluctuations.

I love my HRM. It's helped me actually increase my calories since I found out my heart rate gets pretty high during exercise despite being in good shape. I burn more calories when I exercise than what MFP estimates for running, elliptical, etc.

I'm 5'5'' and at 129 I STOPPED losing weight while eating 1200 calories and exercising for 30-45 minutes 4-5 times per week. After two weeks of increasing my calories to 1500 I finally am losing again (down to 127.8, 2.8 pounds away from goal weight). When you're in the healthy weight range to begin with, I think it gets…

If it's the flu, I'd say take a break. If you have a fever even if it's not the flu, I also would not exercise. When I feel a regular cold/sore throat coming on I try to keep my workouts and I feel that helps clear my system out.

I've never understood the 'fat burn zone' thing that's on the machines. If my heart rate is higher, that's cardio, but I'm still burning fat, right? Honestly, I just ignore it and work as hard as I can for my 30-45 minutes.

I think you really, really, really need to talk to your doctor about what to do. That adds up to 6.25 pounds lost per week to reach your goal. Not sure what your current eating levels are at, but ask your doctor if it would be healthy to cut back to 1500 calories/day?

I think saying you're trying to eat healthlier is the way to go, but it sounds like you tried that without success. I avoided telling people I was trying to lose weight because I think no matter what weight you're at, people will always say 'You look fine', because they think they're being nice. So just lose the weight you…

I always gain weight after a really hard workout or a string of hard workouts -- I think when you work out your muscles develop tiny little tears, and you put on water weight as those tears heal. I always take a day or two off from exercising and I think that helps you see the weight loss and give your muscles a break!

Interesting to read all the responses. When I was heavy -- it was the opposite -- I would look in the mirror and be like 'I look OK' then I'd see myself in a photo and go, "WHAT I don't look that fat, do I?" I agree with one of the posters here -- I think my mind/emotional self has to catch up with my new weight.

I haven't talked with anyone, but I have realized it's an issue to be this obsessive so I'm trying to combat that. I like reading what other people who have gone through this have done, too, or how they're adjusting to eating at maintenance.

I've been doing both WW and MFP. I like knowing my calories. I sometimes feel that WW doesn't give enough calories because I'm not the type of person who eats 300 calories of fruit and veggies a day (which have 0 points, but do contain calories). Also with WW, I found I was always saving all my extra calories for cheat…

I've always had a cheat day, sometimes 2, each week. As long as you can just have your cheat day and not continuing cheating for rest of the week it's a good way to not feel as deprived in your diet. I've read it can also help with your metabolism, but there's always debate about that. I've consistently lost weight each…

I'm at 129 and struggling with whether I really need to lose 4 more pounds. Some days I feel thin (like when I tried on bikinis last week -- yay!), but a lot of time I have to remind myself that I am not fat and that I will not get fat by eating what my maintenance calories are. I say to myself, look -- you're a size 2,…

Glad I found this thread. I have 4 more pounds I want to lose and have been struggling the last couple weeks after 7 months of pretty smooth sailing in losing weight. I think I'm going to eat more and eat at least half my exercise calories back. I may have been undereating when taking exercise into account (net calories…

I think I may bump up my calories to 1,500 and try to eat at least half my exercise calories back. After 7 months of eating at 1200 (and, honestly, eating at 1,050 to 1,100 for 5 days a week for several of those months -- bad, I know), eating more is daunting. So I'll just start by going up to 1,500 so I don't feel like…
