  • Speaking of melting chocolate in car... I found that the Dove Promises fit snuggly in the AC vent fins (or whatever you call the louvered things). They get cold and hard very quickly!
  • Great summary article on Hydration Myths. I like having a folder for studies, makes it easy to pull them up for reference. I can attest to the walking effects mention in the Walking NPR program - other than house cleaning and folk dancing, treadmill walking has been my nearly everyday activity. I don't like running and…
  • Gayle: you asked what I map a while ago. Graphics are the easiest way to share information. Currently I am working on: the Christina River Corridor trail guide, a small cemetery in Bohemia Manor, root control treatment maps for New Castle county, the Claymont Historic Tour Guide, and scanning/indexing 15 drawers of vintage…
  • The only goal I haven't reached this time is spending time reviewing my Korean classes. DH and I know that watching dramas doesn't really count, but we enjoy hearing words we know. Since I've hit my target weight loss of 48 lbs. and down to 130.0 lbs.(and sometimes have actually seen 129.6 yipes) I haven't changed…
  • Did you know there is a website "www.ihatecliantro.com" ? To me it tastes metallic. Yet the seeds, coriander, are wonderful.

  • I've been self-employed for over 25 years so I'm use to slow/hectic times - but lately it has been crazy hectic, but in a good way. I have been so active the past few weeks I can't believe that the scales, because it really is their fault ;) , won't budge a few more tenths of a pound so I can see my goal of 130.0 There are…
  • Thanks for the reminder Gayle!
  • Current goals: 1) reach 130.0 - not yet, close but... 2) not gain while in NY - achieved goal! and lost 1/2 lb. 3) Korean homework - none, but my sister left today for FL and my schedule should settle down. I look forward to the new recipe and study threads- good idea Charlie! For anyone wanting to start a Korean drama…
  • Charlie - I like the way you think! That is a great way to use Meals. I've treated tracking in MFP as a game and enjoy "trying on" food to see what fits. I'm mostly a home cook person but I can see how that would work for me too. I've also become a fan of grams- so much more accurate. I use my Escala scale that weights…
  • everything I just wrote disappeared when I went back a page to check my goals ;( My sister wants to start our kdrama - so I'll have to check back tomorrow
  • I wore a pedometer today since I won't be seeing my treadmill for a week. After packing and moving stuff for over 6 hours it says only 4200 steps. I really thought it would be much higher. I guess leaning and shuffling around doesn't impress it! But I feel I had a great workout. Plus, tonight I had a chicken panini and I…
  • Here are my goals for the current challenge, one of which was to list them today! 1) Get to my goal of 130.0 - I really want to see that on the scale. It's not far to go, but I am slow. 2) Not to gain while my sister and head up to Catskill, NY to help our friend empty the first floor of her house for renovations. The…
  • A new veggie I had yesterday was Korean sweet potatoes. They are dark red skinned and creamy white inside. After class we went to the Korean market and bought 5 that I baked in the oven tonight. Really yummy!!
  • After our Korean school end-of-year show there was a potluck dinner. I don't know how to enter it because I don't know what all I ate! But it was delicious and I wasn't stuffed feeling after eating a heaping plate. As you mentioned Gayle - tomorrow, after treading, I'll step on the scale ;)
  • It's 10:30 and I still have to do my homework - so I will chime in tomorrow when I have thought of some personal challenges. I like this!!
  • Hi all! Thanks Charlie for the invite! Iooked in Groups and found my invitation link there. My name is Pam, I'm 61 yo. Started on MFP on 11/12/13 at 178 lbs. and logged in continuously since that date. I had been at a normal BMI all of my life until my forties and then I started putting it on. At 5'2" I set my goal for 130…
  • In my rural area with narrow roads the treadmill is the safer option and it is always accessible. I have lost 45 lbs (3 more lbs to goal) by using MFP and getting on the treadmill daily. I keep in the 3mph range - hate the thought of running. I use to go for 45 minutes, but now it's 60-90 minutes because I'm totally hooked…
  • Thanks for the input. It's also been interesting to hear the comments from friends that I look younger now, especially from those who have known me for 40 years. I am where I was in my 30's and only tipped into obese in my 50's. I guess that we tend to see heavier as older because of that tendency.
  • If you hadn't said it, I would have :) When my sister-in-law went on a low cholesterol diet years ago her numbers went very high - her body over compensated. Eat the whole egg!
  • I agree with those who budget for chocolate. It is part of my everyday plan. Dove dark chocolate squares or Chocolove Ginger are on the food pyramid - up in the corner.. somewhere there..
  • No, the calories are per cooked slice, and no one expects to eat the drained fat - though my mom used it on cooked kale. I separate a full package on the slotted tray of a broiler pan (doesn't splatter in the oven). Start in a cold oven and bake at 425-degrees. Drain on paper towels when done. Put in an airtight container…
  • If laughter is the best medicine that I should be over this cold by tonight. I wonder what the laughable diet ideas will be in 2060?
  • You are just what I needed to read this morning! I am 60yo and also 5'2" and have lost 41 lbs. so far. Only 7lb more to go, to reach my goal of 130 lbs. and perhaps even break into the 120s?? This has been my first effort to lose the weight that appeared over the past 15 years. I recently read the dismal stats on…
  • I just came across their website (NWLR) last night and came to search the message boards. Your message is the only one posted. So I wanted to add my congratulations! It is now 30lbs kept off for a year, so I will apply in September 2015. My total goal is 45-50 lbs and I'm within 10 lbs of reaching it.
  • Me too! My husband is 12 years younger. He can hardly remember his own age, much less mine - he says it doesn't matter. Definitely sharing the same sense of humor is important in a relationship. A few older guys I dated I think were, I guess... boring, or scared of me - hahaha!
  • I was 39, divorced with 3 kids. He was 26.5. We've been happily married 21 years. We're both self-employed and can easily spend together. We have similar interests. I think he is more mature than me. His mom thinks I'm the best thing ever for him!
  • You've come to the right place! My goal was to lose 50lbs and I'm doing it slowly but steadily, only 10lbs more to go. It's important to find a daily activity that keeps you interested. I've never been interested in running, but I do have a treadmill and get on it daily to watch Korean dramas. I also folk dance weekly and…
  • While sorting out the clean laundry this afternoon my husband said "these must be the Talbot's jeans" - but they weren't my skinny son's jeans they were mine!!
  • northeast corner of Maryland
  • Our house favorite is Cabbage Pizza. I saute it half and half with onions till limp, then add a bit of salt and caraway seed, drain if needed and put it on a pizza crust with a bit of lowfat mozzerella - then bake on a pizza stone.
