My favorite achievement is that I went from a 20 minute mile exhausting me just a year ago (to the point where I felt I needed to rest afterwards), to now running 5k on the treadmills a couple times a week - and being able to go to work right afterwards and having a lot of energy for the rest of the day.

So much this with my husband, who is T2D and more than 100 pounds overweight. Every time I watch him overeat, I feel this way. And scared, because with his Type A personality, family history, T2D, and high stress career, he is a waliking heartattack waiting to happen. I'm scared to lose him, but he is not ready to do…

Pretty sure I have eaten more than that at Thanksgiving! No shame in my turkey game!

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and realized I had to make myself a priority so that I will be around for my kids and to be active for the rest of my life. I work full time and am working on my master's degree, plus have a busy, active family life and a house to manage....but I wake up early every day to go to the…

I haven't done a full, but 3 days after my half I was back to 3 miles on the treadmill and felt great.

Hands Clap by Fitz and the Tantrums gets me moving in general. For running, though, the song that makes me go fast is Devil's Bleeding Crown by Volbeat - the breakdown in the middle gets me going!

Most restaurant menus are on here, so It's easy to track. What I like about that is I can compare calories - a burger and fries at Burger King has more calories than a carnitas bowl from Chipotle, which is more food so is often what I will go for. Or 2 drumsticks at KFC with mashed potatoes and gravy is about the same…

I am a morning person, so waking up early and hitting the gym before work has been easy for me. I find I have more energy and am in a much better mood all day, too, when I go in early. It all depends on what works best for you - not everyone is a morning person, or a night person, or a 2pm on a Tuesday person!

Took it easy today - 2.88 miles on the treadmill in 45 minutes. Still a bit sore from the weekend.

Shaving my legs is more hazardous now that the area around my knees is more boney!

Hoping these work - they were taken a year apart. Not much weight loss but a ton of toning and slimming. The before picture is my husband and I on vacation in Costa Rica. The after pic is with my workout buddy after a 10k run.

I have a couple - I started because I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last November, the day after I turned 44. My husband was diagnosed 2 years earlier and is now on a weekly injectable because he will not change his diet or start exercising. I swore that would not be me. I may end up on injectable someday, but it will…

I just ran my second half today, and I didn't do anything differently. I did have 3 energy gels during the run, at 20 carbs each, but my diet yesterday was normal. I am type 2 diabetic, though, so carb loading isn't good for me anyway.

Ran a half marathon, the Detroit Free Press International Half.

When I get through a bunch of burpees - I was unable to get off the floor without grabbing the furniture this time last year.

Shutterfly_Share_6.jpg Not sure if this pic will work - it is my profile picture. The two pictures were taken almost exactly a year apart. The before picture is me with my husband on vacation. The after is me and my best friend/mentor/workout buddy after a 10k run. I didn't realize how heavy I was until I found the picture…

I have not had any issues losing weight while drinking diet sodas. I can't completely give up all my vices!

I have been running for about a year. My legs look more or less the same, just a bit slimmer, but instead of being squishy, they feel very muscular, and my calf muscles are more prominent. The muscles are stronger, obviously, but running only really strengthened my leg muscles. Everything else has been tones through…

My best friend and work out buddy keeps me motivated by providing support (and a kick in the butt when needed.) My diagnosis of type 2 diabetes (and watching my husband give himself weekly shots for his own - I am doing all I can to avoid that outcome). Seeing pictures from a year ago and realizing that I was much heavier…

I don't know how to post pictures here, but last year at age 44 I ran my first 5k after a lifetime of inactivity. This weekend I am running my second half marathon and in April, I am running my first full marathon. I look better than I have at any other age (plus I have that 40+ female don't give a damn attitude!)…

I wish I had support, but ultimately I am doing this for myself. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and decided that I was taking control of it.

My husband is not supportive, and I have given up on him. However, my best friend/ workout buddy is super supportive, and is always at the finish line of every race to meet me when I cross, and even though he is much more fit than I am he is always patient when I struggle with basic exercises and cheers me on through our…

My last running day until my half marathon on Sunday, so I did an easy 2.88 miles.
