I'm really into savory oatmeal. Some people think it's weird to combine oatmeal with anything but sweets like fruit, but once I realized it's a grain like rice, and you can make rice pudding OR have rice with Chinese food, it opened new doors for me. My go-to breakfast is half a cup of oatmeal with salt and pepper, chopped…

Oatmeal. Oatmeal is one of "the right foods." But you can buy it in little sugar-added envelopes -- more expensive -- or in a canister or bulk -- very, very cheap. This is just one of the MILLIONS of examples of the way people get confused about "the right foods." Eating well doesn't mean shopping at Whole Foods. It means…

Yes, I have the same question, because I'm thinking of getting a fitbit -- but do you take off the fitbit during exercise and switch to the HRM? Do you wear both?

I am SOO with you on this. I just need the ounces.

There are diet pills that actually work. The problem is maintenance. It's easy to learn to take a pill, but not so easy to learn how to maintain the weigh loss after you quit taking the pills. The way I see it, your options are: 1. Take the pills. If they work you will have to either (1) keep taking them forever to…

I'll second the vote for the Ozeri -- it's sleek, people mistake it for an ipad when they see it on my kitchen counter. The "tare" button starts the scale from zero. Put a bowl on the scale. Press "tare." THEN pour in the cereal. That way, you're not weighing the bowl -- only the cereal. Get it?

Their database stinks, they're expensive. Happy to be back here. If you want to support MFP financially, click on their ads. That's how they get paid. That's what I do every time I visit. It costs me nothing, and supports a great FREE site.

Andrea3030's profile picture reveals her to be an infant, and the weight loss advice of infants is notoriously unscientific.

The bearded guy is totally right. Excellent work, bearded guy. Don't listen to the "I have no sympathy for you, you're already thin" haters. Your body, your choice. You know when you're toned and when you're not. Those people suck. Yes, I'm talking to you, haters. This girl is here asking for support and all you do is give…

I pad the mac & cheese with steamed cauliflower -- reduces the calorie count!

What I guess I'm needing help with is staying on track all day, through dinnertime. I don't think I'm overestimating my exercise calories, given that I use a chest strap heart rate monitor. I use a digital scale to weigh everything (no measuring cups!).

I think that WW is nutritionally sound, but the problem is the hours of data entry you will have to perform. Their database is a joke -- nothing like this site, which has nearly every food you can imagine already entered by members. For some reason, WW refuses to crowdsource the DE, so I found myself entering really basic…

Use a digital scale. Having a food scale is absolutely essential to accurate calorie tracking! I love my Ozeri scale, it looks like an iPad.
