  • Mine may not be as inspiring/dramatic as other people but... I had my moment after noticing weight in my face. I also never get to fit in the clothes I want to wear because of my chest size. I've come to love my body no matter what through the years of internal battles and now my drive isn't because of my self esteem but…
  • If you have a smartphone (assuming most people do), you should download this app called Couch to 5K. It might cost a few bucks but its my favorite way to get in shape. It assumes you are compeltely out of shape and only makes you run/jog for a very short period of time. Each week they increase the time a little until you…
  • Well I had a knee injury and can only use the elliptical now so I don't really have a choice. I'm no expert but the treadmill and elliptical are both great ways although both give a different workout for different muscles. Overall they both work out most of your body evenly because of the running motions they both provide.…
  • Yep exactly. I only do so and I always see a downward trend
  • Once a week ideally
  • The problem with low carb (and why a lot of people aren't ready to jump on this wagon) is because of the unnecessity of it all. I did LCHF (20g of carbs a day) for a couple months. Yes I lost weight but I found that I didn't not lose weight any faster than my calorie deficient. And keep in mind while I did the low carb, I…
  • Sadly no... I know working out would make me feel better but as a college student I get stressed out too much to the point where I feel that I need to dedicate every minute to catching up with homework. I should still dedicate even a small time to working out though...
  • You may not want to tell anyone but its perfectly normal to be conscious about what you eat. And luckily, we have the technology to more accurately scale how much we are consuming. I think it's completely normal and tell everyone who sees me log what i'm doing (to be honest, its a lot easier telling them that I'm logging…
  • I was gonna say you're skin looks great too. I know I've gone a long way when people can notice how much weight I've lost just based on my face. Keep it up :)
  • I like buying those 100-calorie snacks.. White popcorn is also so low in calories so that's nice for late at night... Or those sugar free Popsicles if you're craving sweets/ice cream There are a lot of low-cal options of you search for them at the stores. I also replace my chips with carrots to dip with hummus, ranch, or…
  • THIS. I always log the night before and the only times I cave in my diets is when I try logging as the day goes on.
  • There is kinda a reason why many people are against this diet. Take it from me, I actually did Atkins for a couple months (on Intro phase the whole time)... It's definitely do-able and restricting carbs actually made keeping the calories low a lot easier because most calorie-dense foods come with a lot of carbs... But…
  • I don't know what difference it makes but I always weigh before. And I've never had problems doing so... still losing weight!
  • I would always go with the lower one. I always keep my calories really low and have been doing completely fine on MFP.... If you feel like you're not eating enough (even though you will feel your hunger pains the first week as you're getting used to eating the right amount rather than constant eating), then you can always…
  • I wish that just was the case... but no I properly zero'ed it before I placed the object to test it. I've been using this scale for about 3 years now so I guess it's just time to get a new one anyways. I bought a new scale yesterday... it looks better than my old one anyways! :)
  • Same here. 21 years old and I'm 160 trying to get to 125-120. Last year in college and fluctuating in my weight before. But I want this to be the last time I "restart" my diet. :)
  • I love looking at success stories. I have like an archive of inspirational before and afters on my pinterest and even here is easy to see people pics. It just is a great motivation for myself. I try to think how different I will feel in a couple months time. Never wait for the "right time" to start. Don't think 'well I ate…
  • The recommended macros set as default on myfitnesspal is a good start. I believe in a well balanced meal even though there are a lot of other diets that say otherwise. I did the Atkins diet (which is low carbs) for a while and did not enjoy it because of the fact that I did feel like I was restricting myself. A well…
  • Start by logging all your foods. I love logging for the entire day (usually just the night before) so I don't go overboard on one meal. Drink a lot of water. I find it clears my skin and it's been known to be helpful with your metabolism. Remember that you really can eat whatever you want as long as the calories fit. A…
  • You just need to restrain yourself which is really hard maybe the first week or two. But you get into the habit of not snacking as time goes on. My advice is to plan your whole day the night before. And only go by that plan. Stay away from your kitchen late at night. Get rid of those drumsticks too, they're just bad news.…
  • Very true. Considering the fact that I have finals coming up and an MCAT test, I have had no time for regular vigorous exercise. I do indulge myself more in calories when I work out a lot and more regularly if that's of any consideration!
  • Two words: Zucchini noodles. Just shred some zucchini into noodle formation and have all ur pasta entrees without the carbs! I usually buy sugar free pasta sauce but regular pasta is usually only 2g carbs more. If it makes you feel better I never felt sluggish or sick when I started.
  • Yeah I used to HATE pickles and mustard But as I live in Chicago I started just eating the Portillo's Chicago style hotdogs (which has relish mustard and an entire quarter slice of a pickle along the dog) and now I absolutely love it!
  • Veggies is definitely a struggle. If you don't normally shop at Aldi you should consider taking a look in there. They have great fresh produce for siginificantly cheaper prices than other stores! Actually, everything they sell is significantly cheaper than normal groceries. The only draw-back is that they don't have a…
  • I did for about a month but i'm switching back to just the regular wel-balanced counting calories thing just because it was too expensive and restricted all the foods I loved (pasta/bread). But I've made amazing different recepies and I have some tips if you are interested! It's not a terrible diet.. I never got the…

  • You know what I mean... I'm sure she's wanting egg whites for calorie reasons. I personally prefer the whole egg since I find myself still hungry after eating only egg whites since there's practically no nutritional value in the whites. My point is if you buy normal eggs then she has the option of choosing eggs with the…
  • No not really. Especially since I have no idea how accurate those "calories burned" on the tredmil and other machines actually are. I use exercise as a metabolism booster and to keep myself active/in-shape but all my calorie deficient is based on my diet alone.
  • Absolutely! I wouldn't necessarily weigh yourself for at least a week (I personally do not like frequent weighings) just because you may retain a bit of water weight from the increased consumption but it should shed off pretty quickly when you return to your normal eating habits. As long as you've been eating healthy and…
