  • I work in a gym and I can all but guarantee you he's just trying to get some sales. I know our company is doing a push on our trainers to book more sessions since it's resolution season and all. That being said, I worked out with a trainer before I started working at the gym (and I still do), and I adore her. She pushes me…
  • Yes, I do. I try not to do it too often, maybe 3-4 times a month (if that). And on those days I still don't go totally crazy with my eating. I may have a burger and fries, or I may have a glass of wine. But I try to make sure I still drink 8 glasses of water and I don't gorge myself. I still want to be able to enjoy the…
  • If he wants to cook for you, that's awesome! I would just try to make sure I had a healthy breakfast, a light lunch, and maybe some sort of snack while you get ready. That way you will have calories to spare and you won't be STARVING by the time you do get to eat. Most of all, enjoy yourself!
  • Why not? Sounds good.
  • Sounds good. I may have to try it.
  • Thanks for your support guys! I take spin classes 1-2 times a week and a yogaerobilates (my word not theirs lol) class once a week at the gym. My strength training is all but non-existent lately. I used to do better with my weight lifting and such, but I just haven't been getting on the strength machines lately.…
  • How positive! You too! Hope your workout was wonderful. I'm off to do my own!
  • I put pumpkin and cinnamon in mine. Nom nom nom. I have also put a little bit of light cream cheese in it, too.
  • You have a point here. I was friends with a girl on here who constantly seemed to have these crazy days. Almost every Monday she'd talk about the beers, nachos, pizza, etc she had and complain because she wasn't losing weight. Her other friends always told her it was ok and not to worry about it. I finally had to unfriend…
  • This might be candy-coated, but yes I think it's ok. I think that the fact that you recognize your food decision mistakes proves that you are learning how to eat properly. As long as you don't make a habit of crazy days, I think you'll be fine. I'm probably a little extra sympathetic because a) I had one of those days, and…
  • I would check to make sure you have your profile set to sedentary and all the other information is correct. I'm 227 trying to lose 1.5 pounds a week and I'm allowed 1560 calories a day. It *might* have given you more calories because you say you'll workout 6 days a week, but I don't think it would give you THAT many extra…
  • Such a good point! I have worked out on an empty stomach before, and I felt like such a slacker. I couldn't do nearly as many reps as normal or with the same weights. I've also had this problem with cardio workouts. I was worried that I might get sit running on a full stomach, but if you don't eat you just don't have…
  • I have tried to lose weight without logging, but I notice when I don't log it I let myself slip a little more than I do if I'm tracking everything. Like "I'll just have one Oreo... it won't matter in the long run!" And it just gets worse from there. I do better when I keep myself accountable.
  • Congratulations!
  • You'll do great!
  • Love! I know all these crazy things, but I still usued wot weigh myself every day. You can't help getting discouraged, even when you know it's all that salt you ate yesterday. I've finally got to the point where I just weigh myself once (maybe twice) a week. Much better on the psyche!
  • Yes, 1 cup = 8oz. But I say drink when you're thirsty. I CONSTANTLY go over the recommended 64 oz per day. This is especially true on my workout days. If you're still thirsty, keep drinking.
  • I count my herbal teas towards my water. Coffee and caffinated tea I count as half since they are diuretics. So if I had 2 cups of caffinated tea, I would only count one. It's not a perfect equation, but I figure it works!
  • I need to lose almost 80 pounds from my starting weight. I'm getting there, but it's been a process. The best part is that I just FEEL better. My worst part is that I can't really tell a difference in my body yet (I've only lost about 16 pounds so far). I set small goals to keep myself motivated, and I'm rewarding myself…
  • That's awesome. I have to say I had similar feelings when I first started. I hate looking at the label on some foods and discovering that one little cookie has 180 calories. So not worth it! But I'm down 16 pounds, so I have to be doing something right these days! Congrats on your progress!! Keep up the good work!
  • I'm with you, Rachel! Good luck!
  • Did you start a new thread? I'm still in!
  • I live in TN, and I feel your pain on the humidity! I also work out in a gym, so luckily it doesn't bug me too much. If going to a gym isn't an option for you, I recommend getting some DVDs and working out at home. Jillian Michaels has some great ones that really get you moving. It's still early spring and I'm already…
  • I'm in! I sent you a message with my info and requested you as a friend.
  • I know that at some point during your weight loss your muscle mass can build as your fat drops. This can cause a scale stand-still, or even a bit of a gain before you start losing again.
  • I had a day like that the other day. From the time I got home from work I could not stop eating! I finally made myself ride my stationary bike for a while. I've also gone for a walk or done a workout DVD. It doesn't always make me not hungry, but it distracts me for a while. Plus I burn some of those calories I was…
  • That is insane! I'm sorry you had to go through that. I have heard some shady stuff about LA Fitness, but nothing that bad. I'm glad that you're getting a refund. Yes, you can make it without a trainer. I had one when I first started going to the gym, but I just wanted someone to show me how to use the equipment properly,…
