I think a lot of people do that. I would make sure to really analyze your "why", though: because if it really is PUNISHING yourself, like you actively are trying to hurt your body, then you do need some kind of psychiatric help. If you're like most people though, sabatoging yourself is more or less just giving up will…

There ARE naturally thin people. I have a good friend who is one. She's almost 30 and still a size 2 with a 34c chest. It's their genetics & metabolism. I found out I have an incredibly slow metabolism, so I have to make huge constant efforts in food and exercise just to NOT GAIN anything. Here's my example that shows…

Let yourself have the few naughty foods, but just make sure you still COUNT them. For example: don't do the absolute torture of having NO pizza (especially if it's a social thing with people all around). But instead go online & find out the exact calorie count & write it down so it's in your face (how much per slice), and…

I've definitely felt very similar emotions, about feeling like I'm doing a lot & seeing no results. I've moped my fair share as well. Losing weight is HARD: not only do you have to NOT eat extra things, but you also have to slash off MORE calories to be able to LOSE anything. So it's like double the pain of losing foods…

I also didn't see ANY results from doing the 30 day shred. I even completely cut out treats while I did it. I think you can do it as a bonus workout per day to up your toning, but don't make it your ENTIRE workout. You just don't burn enough calories or get in enough cardio for your heart rate in only 20 minutes. I still…

P.S.- I would look for race schedules up in the mountains on trails, or up in Carson City or Reno. With a bigger population, you might find much cheaper races with better shirts that come with them. It'd be worth the $5-8 in gas. :) Like here is one in South Lake Tahoe in June: it's a trail run which is way more fun (I'd…

That's really expensive, but I noticed that when I lived out by you guys as well (probably because there aren't very many available). That's why I didn't do it any out there- they were all expensive & just banging on concrete & roads (kills my knees). I usually spend $20-25 for one that comes with a regular cotton t-shirt…

I notice a big difference when I cut carbs down by a bit. I'm not at all an Atkins diet supporter, and totally support whole grains for a healthy diet, but I definitely have a bread/cookie/brownie/muffin problem. Starchy Carb calories retain three times as much water in your body as other types of nutritional items. I…

You definitely need quality bottoms, since your legs are doing most of the work. I LOVE LOVE LOVE having Nike capri style running pants- super spandex, but thick enough that bad bulges don't show, so I can be in public. :) You can get those at a sports store like ****'s or Sports Authority. Expect around $50. Don't skimp…

Defnitely don't weigh every day, as tempting as it is. Try to do only once per week at the exact same time, it'll be the most accurate, and you'll feel SO much happier because it'll reflect exactly what you accomplished in that week (so you'll KNOW there's a pound missing because you BURNED that pound, and can be PROUD).…

I've had 2 c-sections & the tummy never gets totally toned after. I even had two trainers tell me so. You can hope to get rid of almost all the fat by doing tons of cardio & toning, but not the 'looseness'. The bottom line is that they cut through skin, your abs and nerves: The trainer told me how those nerves and blood…

Totally work out late at night. I used to only go to the gym at 10pm. You'll find contradicting info on the whole sleeping thing (if you'll be able to fall asleep after, or if you'll be all revved up), but I always fell into the category of falling asleep GREAT after working out late at night. It gives your body a clear…

Wow. I guess no one has. Haha  Bummer!

I think it might be because it will vary so much from person to person- way more than cardio would. But what you can do, is input them there so you can keep records; but then in the cardio section there is a generic 'strength training, weights' you can pick, and just put in about how many minutes you did. It'll at least…

If your body isn't hungry, then it doesn't need it. Don't eat. Everyone's body is totally different. I have a super slow metabolism, so even with working out hard 6 days a week, I can only eat between 1200-1400 calories/day to lose ONE POUND a week. It really really bites, because I overeat like crazy (I don't FEEL full).…

If you don't want to buy anything, libraries usually have a ton of stuff. You can do Jari Love DVDs to get an AWESOME strength training workout (about 50 min. long) & you only need some simple weights (If you have some 4-8lb weights available). Netflix also has a bunch of workout videos on instant streaming, if the house…

Peanut butter! As long as you're using it sparingly (like not having PB & J for lunch every day, too), peanut butter is super good for you. And PB on whole wheat is a spectacular food before a workout or a race. Almost all the runners I know eat that before a race (including myself).

I did it awhile ago, and while it gets a good sweat & it's hard, it's only 20 minutes a day. I'd really recommend it as your strength training only, and STILL DO your larger amounts of cardio at least 5 days a week! I didn't really see results unless I did that, even though I did feel sore & stuff. Good luck! :)

Sure! A great way to get your motivation back is to take some time off. But you need to start by writing down how you feel right now. Not all the depression stuff per se, but write down how energetic you feel, how easy it is to run up stairs, how proud of yourself you are for running certain distances, lifting certain…

All the websites I've found (since I don't have my own heart rate monitor) say that the average person does around 5-600 calories in a zumba hour, and that the instructor usually does around 700 (since they're so much more intense, and actually doing every single move). As a 'beginner', since I've only done about 4 weeks…

Marietta, GA (suburb on the north size of Atlanta) has a KFC with a 56-foot tall mechanical chicken on top. The beak opens and shuts, and the eyes move back and forth. :) It's lovingly known to Atlantans as "The Big Chicken". It totally pops up on maps when you type it in, so you should be able to find it easily if you…

I think there's an easy way to change up your paradigm to break that habit. Imagine this: If it were possible for you to just grab a chunk of fat off your arm or belly and throw it in the trash, wouldn't you do that? Or would that be 'wasting' it? Start viewing junk food that way. If you ever feel a speck of courage in not…

I'm exactly the same. I bake. Killer stuff. Everyone begs for my best recipes in the world for cookies, breads, brownies, cheesecakes, etc. The main thing is moderation. You can still have your tasty food, but you've really just got to start taking a small scoop & then being done. Also, you can't have it all day, every…

Add me! I like running, weight lifting, elliptical, zumba, and helping my family eat healthy (got 2 small kiddos). I just crave treats and bread too much, so I struggle! ;) I'd love more support!

We share everything. All money between us is family money (unless it was a gift of course, like birthday money). But neither of us go on shopping sprees, either, or I might say that wouldn't work for some couples. We both just buy what's needed, and if we don't think it's needed, we talk about it first. We have specific…

If you're only doing Zumba & walking, then that's great for your heart/lungs (cardio), but to lose weight you also REALLY need to do weights a few times a week. You'll seriously see weight start dropping off after about 2 weeks (and SEE muscles forming in your body- it's quite amazing)! My favorite is Jeri Love DVDs (if…

If nothing's moving, then your body has just adjusted. It's time to switch it up. You'll have to lower your calories again, and up your workout intensities (up the weights, run faster, etc.). Weigh yourself in a week, and if nothing budges again, then you'll have to adjust again. Everyone's body is different, and it's the…
