  • Meh - I don't plan to powerlift but I like to challenge myself sometimes and see how heavy I can get with my lifts. I don't do it "properly" like following a proper power program or whatever, but every so often when I have a "free" gym day (as in not following my "bro" plan) I will just play around doing stuff and that…
  • Ok - to cut through all the maths - you keep eating at your deficit like normal. Then on your treat day you eat at your normal maintenance calories or just above FOR THAT DAY - not the whole week. So if my maintenance is 2000 and I eat 1500 every day, on my treat day I just eat 2000. Not 2000 + all the rest I "banked" coz…
  • Moderate caloric deficit and exercise. That's all you need. Everything else is just out trying to get your money from you.
  • The weight starts to creep up for me so I always end up having to log again before too much damage is done. As soon as I'm up more than 2kg (and not just the fluctuating type - 2 proper fat kilos), I get back on the logging wagon to lose them. I'm not good at intuitive eating. As in - I KNOW I am overeating, I am not good…
  • Eh... I can smash half a box of dry pasta with no problems whatsoever. With sauce. Proper sauce. Bolognaise or whatever. So yeah... it's not a "serving". Half a box of pasta is definitely not a serving. So I just hardly ever have it now because 100g cooked pasta just makes me sad. Even with a bunch of sauce on it.
  • YES! THIS!!! Granola with Greek yoghurt and some fresh fruit - how much more "healthy" can you get than that? It's a beautiful "healthy" 500+ calorie bowl that's what it is :( SIGH.
  • I use a belt for heavier lifts too. I think it's important to learn how to brace though, and not just use the belt as the "crutch". I will sometimes put the belt on looser to make sure I am bracing properly and not losing the vacuum (belt stays still, I've kept the brace). I don't know the scientific or the bro science…
  • I have the FitBit Charge 3. The reason i chose it over the apple watch was purely aesthetic at the end of the day. I use it to track my steps more than anything else. It's also nice to see the calories burnt (I know not 100% accurate, but it's a good enough estimate), I also like that i can track my period on it (though it…
  • Oh and pasta. Pasta is another one of those things where I need like 300-400g cooked to make a decent-sized portion, but the actual "portion" they suggest is one mouthful of sadness.
  • Be healthy, be fit, maintain strength. Ideally get beastlier so that I can eat more food. Also, it would be nice to be able to maintain a slightly lower BF% (when I get to it), but nothing major like abs or anything like that - just flatter pooch and more definition particularly on my legs, but they have a hard time…
  • Granola. have you ever weighed 35g of granola? It's like ONE MOUTHFUL. I used to eat like 1/4 of the box in one serving. SIGH.
  • huh? I also live in Australia but I use calories not kj because kj is a weird measurement, much like gallons and ounces and inches and miles. :D I have used MFP whilst travelling to and from Sth America and never had an issue with it changing from calories to kj. The only time I had an issue was with the lastest update in…
  • You, sir, read good books.
  • Last: Book 3 of the Banished of Muirwood by Jeff Wheeler (can't remember the name of it, sorry, and already returned it on my kindle unlimited thingy so can't even go back to it to check). The whole of the Muirwood series was great. The first part was better than the second part though (6 books total) because the main…
  • Octopus has carbs - I was very surprised when I found out after logging it. I haven't come across carbs in my shrimp entries yet though - neither the frozen packet from the supermarket or the generic entry for the stuff I buy fresh at the fish shop.
  • Lifting. So that as you lose your weight through DIETING, you're nicely shaped underneath! Not saying don't do cardio- do cardio that you enjoy.
  • I agree with peppermint tea for bloating too. haven't tried spearmint, but give it a go - might work!
  • rice syrup is added to honey - therefore "adulterated"
  • that sounds atrocious
  • Or anything from Troma. Tromeo and Juliet... gold!
  • yeah that's the one! I came back to say I remembered his name! BUt if you want A GOOD bad movie - Deathgasm. SOOOOO GOOOOOOD
  • Just about anything with that guy from Forest Gump in it. Forest Gump included. Whatshisname? YOu know the dude - WILLSSSOOOOONNNNN - that guy.
  • I weigh daily in particular when I'm cutting weight. It's annoying sometimes, but I like to see the trend. I use Happy Scale to log it. Sometimes you step on there and BAM you're like a kilo heavier overnight and the brain goes "OMG!!!! BUT I'M LIKE HUNGRY!!!! WHYYY???????" so you just need to tell the brain to be quiet…
  • Dunno about dates coz not my thing, but i'm like that with dried figs. Can't eat just one, so I just don't buy it.

  • well OP - at the end of the day, if it's purely for weight loss calories blah blah - eat whatever fits your calorie goals. If it's for taste and minimally processed and allergen benefits and all sorts of other stuff that people are calling "Woo" on, then eat your locally sourced honey. Or swap to supermarket bear honey…
  • I don't like to call them 'cheat' days, I personally call it a refeed. They work well enough and I definitely need them every so often. HOWEVER, when I am close to goal weight, I can't just spend one whole day eating whatever the hell I want, because I can EASILY pack away thousands of calories in one day. And considering…
  • yeah, but so is this article that is also credible from a public broadcasting association here in Australia about honey and how pure (or not) it is. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-09-03/capilano-and-supermarkets-accused-of-selling-fake-honey/10187628 and from our credible newspaper…
  • the bear honey in your cupboard most likely "adulterated" honey. As in - doesn't have actual pollen from bees in it. Now, this COULD all be bulldust, but the way I tell real honey from fake honey is that real honey crystallizes in winter, the honey bear in the cupboard never crystallizes. Fake honey has other stuff like…
  • I also have read that waist trainers are not good for you - the proper ones. And the ones that are just gimmicks for "melting fat" are, well, just that - gimmicks.
