lobster - Hope the shoulder continues to feel better! I've decided to give my mom four of my JM DVDs. She's been trying to get in shape for months without much success, so I think she could benefit from 30DS, BFBM, NMTZ and RI30 (which I hated, but maybe she'll love it). I used JM as a kickstarter and then moved on to…

Welcome Back Di! Glad your trip was so much fun! I love your new goal, measurable and on a timeline, I'm sure you'll get there! Lobster- How goes 6w6p? TX - Sounds like you made good decisions, hope the scale is kind whenever you decide to weigh again. AFM - Holiday weekend wasn't a train wreck eating-wise, but other than…

Lobster - I admire you sticking with it in spite of the awkwardness, I am horribly uncoordinated, so perhaps 6w6p should stay on the shelf at my house! Glad to hear that you're already seeing results! AFM - More of the same this week. Since I'm so close to my goal, I'm focusing a lot on lifting so that I can get the body I…

Hello and Happy Friday! lobster - Interesting observation about men not usually complaining about how they look, so true! smfrn - I too only weigh on Saturday, and not even every Saturday at that! I mix my protein powder with water and Amazing Grass (powdered greens) and sometimes some PB2. Tried it with oatmeal and it…

txranchgirl - I quit RI30 a few months back. If its not something you enjoy why force yourself to do it? That's my motto at least. smrfn - How are your measurements? If they're the same, I wouldn't give much thought to the scale. I'm finally down to within 10 pounds of my goal, but since mfp doesn't have a goal body fat to…

Nice to know I'm not the only one with that problem (not that I am slim or tiny, but I do feel bigger at the end of the day than at the start)! Hope your measurements continue to stay the same. I only weigh when my HRM tells me to and I love it that way! Lobster - how is 6w6p? Did you try the second workout yet? AFM -…

Lobster - So glad to hear the extra protein is giving you some changes in tone and muscles! How would you compare 6w6p to some of her other DVDs? I have it, but have yet to try it because I was so put off by RI30 back in April. smfrn - Congrats on BR and enjoy the break from JM, after 3 months, you've certainly earned it!…

lobster - Have your measurements gone up as well? I can imagine your frustration, I hope it's just some water weight wreaking havoc and not a true gain. I am changing up my non-lift exercise again, I really don't like what I picked for this month, so I keep changing it. Going back to my jump rope, I've missed it!

Lobster - how is the additional protein working out for you? Hope it's helping! Di - Have a great trip! I love the idea of a hotel room workout! AFM - I was getting a really low burn from one of my daily workouts for June, so I am changing it out for something else. Looking ahead to a planned 3 week trip later this summer…

erical78 - I love IIFYM! I've been following it since January and it really helped me get and stay on track. I was very low on protein when I started and I think it has really helped me maintain my lean mass as I lose fat. AFM - Today was my first day of total body lifting and I moved up in weights from 15 lbs to 20 lbs.…

I think on MFP, "lifting" usually means barbells or heavy dumbbells in which you progressively increase the weight lifted and/or reps completed. Take measurements and you should see a decrease even if the scale goes up (muscle is denser than fat, so you may weigh a bit more but be physically smaller). I refer back to the…

Di - Hope your son is feeling better! Sick kids are never fun! AFM - The migraine passed after I laid down in a cool dark room and slept for about 10 hours. It sapped a bit of my motivation, so I kept sliding my double-day, so today I just did an extra long workout to get in all that I missed in addition to the usual. I…

Welcome back lobster! Congrats on upping to maintenance calories and the HRM! What kind did you get? AFM - Horrible migraine on Monday evening, but it didn't affect my workout too badly. I slept in yesterday and lifted in the evening instead of the morning which reinforced that, for me, the best time to exercise is the…

Di - Sounds like you had a great weekend! Excellent job on the Tabata workouts! I had a good weekend. Up a pound but down 2.5 inches, so I'll take that. I'd rather be physically smaller than lighter. Still frustratingly far from my "goal weight" but as the inches and body fat continue to creep down, I keep telling myself…

Di - I see your long post, I think. Enjoy your shopping and rest day tomorrow! SMRFN - Great job on BR! I've heard good things about Fitness Blender and have done a few of their workouts and liked them. AFM - Morning lifting done with extra cardio at the end. Made a decision to only weigh when prompted by the HRM, it…

For June I'm going to do something similar, just different HIIT routines, there are about 50-something choices on the site I found, so I've got a lot of choices to maintain variety. The clothing purge felt great and my skinny jeans fit again. But the scale was not kind this week and has yet to go back down. I'm debating…

Lucy - I'm doing a rotation of 4 Neila Rey routines I found online. It's a mix of HIIT and other body weight exercises. I lift three times a week, so I wanted something to compliment that. I'm building up the sets as the month goes on, so I started with 3 sets of each workout, and I'll work my way up to between 7 and 10…

I tried the HRM thing and using the sedentary TDEE multiplier I got 1785 calories a day! I've got my daily goal set to 1600, which I am usually very good at hitting, or going slightly over, but I've been losing about a pound a week on that goal, so it seems like a pretty good estimate! New workout is going well, I really…

That's really interesting about the HRM. I only use mine for exercise, but I'm really tempted to try the hour sitting down to see what I get! Thanks for the great idea! AFM - my new rotation combined with new lifting routine and a head cold that will not go away is kicking my tail so far this month! I think I picked a good…

Doing a rotation of Neila Rey HIIT and other workouts this month in addition to my usual lifting. I'm sure I'll go back to Jillian at some point, I have YM, ESNS and 6w6p that I have yet to try, but for May, I'm excited to try the HIIT and see if I like it. Took a rest day today, starting to come down with something so I'm…

Di - I have a bit of a water problem, I drink tons of it, I average more than 5 liters a day! I was thinking about trying a rotation of ESNS and YM. But I'm still debating whether to do that or keep up with the made-up circuits. I switched to the circuits because I was hating RI30, but now I really like the circuits and…

Di - Keeping drinking water to flush your system of the extra sodium, it's been working for me this post-holiday week! Still managed all my workouts last weekend and this week, so that's a good thing. Averaging over 5 km on my exercise bike each morning, not a huge distance, but when combined with treadmill, jump rope, and…

Ceal - I take the average calorie burn for yoga and circuit training and enter that as the calorie burn (it might not be hugely accurate, but it will prevent overestimating the burn which will help if you eat your exercise cals back). TX - I hope the shoes work out for you and its just your foot getting used to wearing…

txranch - I have not tried YM but am excited for it. I take a 90 minute yoga class every week and I love it, it has done so much for me. I'm hoping doing YM will give me similar benefits. The increased flexibility has really helped in other exercises as well, and getting a deeper stretch before and after a workout is…

Hello All! Taking a break from JM DVDs for the next two weeks, just too busy to get to a full DVD every morning. Getting my exercise in short bursts of 10 to 15 minutes throughout the day instead of a longer workout all at once. Hoping to get back to it in May, going to try a mix of ESNS and YM with maybe a few NMTZ and…

I use whey protein almost every day to meet my protein macro, recover from lifting and keep me full longer. I include protein every time I eat, even my snacks have protein. I find that eating more protein makes me less hungry throughout the day. Going to try some new JM tomorrow, hating RI30 to the point that I don't even…

If you're aiming for toning and definition not weight loss, I would recommend using the heaviest weights you can finish it with. I will sometimes use 7 pound weights until I can't do anymore reps and then switch to 3 pound weights. I did that a lot with NMTZ and think I saw better results because of it. I am debating going…

I did a modified version of this in March. Modified because I loved NMTZ, so I never did the "quick" version without the floorwork. And on days that had both 30DS and NMTZ, I would just do NMTZ. I really liked the variety of moving around between DVDs throughout the month. As for the individual DVDs, I prefer weights and…

Tried Level 3 this morning, didn't like it much more than Level 2...didn't even like the warm-up. I actually turned it off mid-way through and grabbed my jump rope and did a circuit workout combining my 30-day arms and butt challenge with the jump rope. Got a similar calorie burn in a bit less time, but now I'm feeling…

I agree completely! Today was my first day of L2 and I am not liking it at all! I'm going to try it again tomorrow with my own workout music, but I don't think it is the commentary or the music, I think I just don't like the progression of exercises. I didn't find it hard, even with 7 lb weights, I just didn't like it. And…
