Yes, losing weight as we get older is hard. Consistency is the key.

At 5'9" I feel my best at about 145. I'm getting older now, so we shall see how hard it is to get there.

I was told ten years as well. Apparently studies have found that ten years is better than five. That gives me nine and a half years left!

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Yes, hearing the words, "you have cancer" shakes you up a bit. I was in shock for about two or three months before everything leveled out. I was diagnosed in January, 2013. I am triple + and have three more herceptin infusions left. I am also on tamoxifen for a total of 10 years.…

kbrey68, I totally agree with your post. I have been trying to do the same thing. I am nearing the end of my herceptin treatments and I just want to start living again. I try to eat as healthy as possible but I know that I eat too much sugar and I do drink alcohol on occassion, but a person has got to live and enjoy life.…

Thanks for the list. There were lots of things on there that I was not aware of as having an estrogenic affect. I am going to rethink my flaxseed. I do want to avoid anything that may trigger the cancer to come back.
-
Thanks forger for the advice. I will have to try that. It sounds like something I could actually do!
-
I would like to know this as well since I am also triple positive and like you, have started adding flaxseed to my breakfasts.

Thank you for your prayers and offer of a listening ear. Congratulations on your 6 year anniversary -- what an accomplishment! Right now I am looking forward to my first year of being cancer free. I welcome any advice you are willing to share. Things I struggle with are getting enough veggies on a daily basis and fitting…

Welcome to the group. I am still getting treatment and want to get healthy on this journey to wellness.

I totally agree with this. Nutrient dense food keeps me going for hours. When I eat junk food I am hungry and eat more within a ver short period of time.
-
Ok, I always thought I was tall. You ladies really make me feel short! LOL Believe it or not, I actually envy you six foot ladies!
-
Terry, how are you doing? I am in the same situation as you, mastectomy, chemo and radiation. I am finishing up radiation and then herceptin until next June. I am hoping for reconstruction next June. You're right--long struggle, but we keep going forward.

Find a physical therapist who is trained in lymphadema and working with cancer patients. I have a physical therapist who taught me how to drain my lymphatic system--arm, torso, breast, and I have not had a problem. I do have a compression sleeve that I wear for my arm (20 nodes removed) when I exercise or feel the need to…

My plastic surgeon has recommend these for my reconstruction when I finally get to have it!

It's been a while since anyone has posted on this topic, so I thought I would. How is everyone doing? I have only 6 radiation treatments left and herceptin until next June. I start tamoxifen in November. I am really scared about gaining weight on the taxomixfen. My doctor has warned me that I WILL gain weight! Sigh, I just…

I will add you. I need the friends. I am horrible about tracking so hopefully you ladies can keep me on track :) I am the shortest of the bunch so far at 5' 91/2.

Gorger, thanks for the advice on the downward dog position for examining breasts. I have dense breast as well and my cancer did not show up on a mammogram, only an ultrasound. It took the doctor almost a year to find my cancer, and by then it had spread to the lymph nodes.
-
Thanks Gorger for all of your advice. I meet with my oncologist in November to discuss Tamoxifen and get put on it. I am scared at all the possible side effects of it. I already have cataracts, so I wonder how quickly I will need surgery once I am taking tamoxifen. I am glad that I read your information about splitting the…

Welcome to the group, crudd 123. You are one tough cookie! Hugs and prayer to you for a healthy recovery. Enjoy your time off--you deserve it.

Awesome job! You are a perfect example of what clean eating and lifting heavy can do for a person. Now I just need to follow my own advice.
-
I try to keep my calories around 1400-1500. That keeps me losing pretty steady.

FIVE POUNDS!!!! I shouldn't be surprised from the way I have been eating, or rather, overeating this past week. Oh, well, back on track today!

I say go for it! I have short hair like this and I LOVE it! It is so easy to care for.

I'm from the central Michigan area. Lived here all my life!

Hello everyone! Thank you for the invite to the group, I am happy to be here! I am from Michigan. I have to wonderful children, ages 23 and 20. My daughter just recently got married to a wonderful young man, so he is a nice addition to the family. I am happily married to my husband of 26 years. The weight has slowly crept…

Let me know how the progesterone cream works for you. I am struggling big time with sugar cravings and weight gain. I also have to deal with insomnia, anger flareups and lots more. The weight gain is my biggest concern because I feel so out of control with this.

I'm 5'10". I am on my feet all day at work, so heels for me are seldom.
