  • I find it easier to walk/run faster on the ground than on the treadmill. I don't exactly know why.
  • That's a fantastic idea! I thought about getting a standing desk, and I also heard about sitting on an exercise ball instead of an office chair. But I hadn't considered an under the desk stepper.
  • Turkish get ups. Burpees/sprawls. Plank hold.
  • This is great advice!
  • Thanks. I like that idea, at least trying to explain to her how hard it has been to lose the weight.
  • Thanks for all the ideas... We're not going walking today, but I probably will walk with her again at some point. There really aren't that many people in my organization who work out over lunch break.
  • I also surprised myself by enjoying running. I haven't finished the c25k program yet (I think I'm on week 3, day 2) but I jumped ahead and entered a real 5k. I ran as slow as possible, but ran the whole way. I scored 160th out of 202 runners with a time of 42 minutes. My goal this summer is to amass so many 5k t-shirts…
  • I remember feeling this after walking home from school, so many years ago. I thought it was normal.
  • How about an aerobic step? Cheap, portable, quiet & good cardio.
  • I try to workout with my kids whenever possible. When they were little there were DVDs we did together, where I danced and used the baby as added weight. Then when they were toddlers, I took them to the park, put on my iPod and chased them around. Now I try to play the Wii with them and go on hikes together. I get usually…
  • Thank you so much for posting this! I know that wasn't your goal, but some of the responses you've received have been very enlightening. I am down to almost your weight after being much heavier, and my weightloss has slowed down. Now I know why! Congrats on the weightloss and the marathon.
  • I count most anything MFP lets me. It makes me happy. It's like a bonus for doing chores I hate.
  • I just did level 3 today and holy COW! So much of the workout was in plank! But I did it. And while I was doing it, I was thinking "wow, I can't believe I'm actually doing this!" Awesome workout! I'm not good at following plans so I don't have any results to post, but I just feel stronger. So that's something.
  • Wow! Congratulations!
  • I tried to quit smoking so many times I lost count! I'm coming up on a year now!! So excited. And yes, I did gain weight, and yes it was worth it. But I've already lost all the weight I gained and then some. And yes it was hard, and yes I sometimes still want a smoke, but I'm never going to have one. I quit for real this…
  • I don't love plank jacks. I don't love burpees either. But I deal with them. 30DS is great. Nice and short, but gives you a real workout.
  • CVX this morning. I do like cardio. And my arms are not at all sore from the Challenge yesterday. Go figure.
  • My "why" for quitting smoking was my kids. Then my "why" for losing weight was because my workout pants were getting tight. Not quite in the ball park of some of the other posters, I know.
  • I love walking! On the treadmill or in the neighborhood or Leslie Sansone. I heard that walking is often the exercise that is used in health studies, and that there have been many studies on the benefits of walking as an exercise.
  • I'm not a big fan of Ramadan either. I hate not being able to workout, and I always overeat when the sun goes down. :(

  • I've pulled my lower back, and I think you would know if you did. There's a definite "oh sh**" moment. And then it takes a few days of hobbling around like an old woman before it clears up. Walking helps.
  • Just did The Challenge for the first time. Arms feel like rubber. Can't wait to see how they feel tomorrow!
  • I've started getting this, from a number of people, and so I've couched my answer to the: "How much weight did you lose?" question with, "and I'm actually still overweight..." There was a time in my adult life when I was 20 lbs lighter than I am now, and I was pretty happy with that weight. That was what I picked for my…
  • I love that you did this with Leslie Sansone. I have a tendency to put down my workouts, and tell myself if I'm not doing P90x or lifting heavy it doesn't count. But it does count! You are proof! Thank you!
  • Oatmeal cookies & whole milk plus Salt & Vinegar chips. Got all your food groups right there.
  • Congratulations! That's so exciting!
  • You look fantastic! Show it off!!
  • When I quit, I started going to the gym. Same day. I didn't worry about what I ate until I was quit for about 3 months. After 3 months, I joined MFP and finally weighed myself. I don't know if I gained from quitting. I was pretty heavy to begin with.
  • I'm almost within 10 pounds of a healthy weight and I wore a striped dress & size 8 suit jacket to work on Friday & I thought I looked attractive & professional, but I got a disapproving "up and down" from the CFO. Maybe because she's overweight, and thought I was "flaunting it?"
  • I don't do the clean plate thing with my kids for just that reason.
