The best advice I can give is to go to a running store (a real one, not a chain of generic sporting goods stores) and try on a gazillion pairs until you find the right one. I live in a town of 500, but am relatively near one of 3,000 and one of 10,000. If I can find one, you can too. If you have a pair of runners you've…

Feel free to add me :)

Just vegetarian here. I try and limit my animal food intake to cheese for flavour only, and eggs in moderation. I continue to use honey on toast. Feel free to add me, as I often have vegan meals or completely vegan days.

You actually want to lose weight slowly. If you lose weight quickly, you're losing muscle mass, electrolytes, and water that you need. It's the slow loss that means you're losing body fat. Watch "Hungry for Change" to understand the diet industry a bit better - although I'm not suggesting you immediately go mostly raw…

Feel free to add me :) I'm in my 30's, wife, mother, special education teacher, vegetarian, and like to be active!

I have had tremendous success with both naturopathy and acupuncture. I didn't know that all the stress I was putting my body under to try and lose weight was causing overload on my adrenal glands, which led to weight gain. Once I knew that, changed how I ate, the weight fell off - 80lbs total, and 10lbs in one week. That…

Have you read the blood type diet book? It's not exactly based in science. From what I remember, it referenced the Bible (no disrespect) which reflected the Babylonian knowledge of science when it was written, as well as some anthropological studies, but not really enough. For example, I am Type O. According to the book, I…

Take it one day at a time and good things will happen! :)

My experience was just like the others. I was very tired for about a week after, but not in any great deal of pain - ibuprofen did the trick. I cannot process fatty foods any more. A rich meal has me nauseous and distended for a day or two. I hear there are people who can eat the same way they did before surgery, but for…

I'm certainly not putting down your parenting, just pointing out that you do have a daughter who will see, absorb, and model everything you teach her. I am a parent and a teacher, so I walk two paths. Just the other day, a student commented on how I always wear great shoes - I don't work with this particular kid; we just…

I'm not technically at my goal weight, but I have lost 80lbs and kept it off for three years. I was 245lbs (probably higher in all honesty) and am now 164lbs. Life is pretty much the same. I have great friends/marriage/career etc. Clothes shopping is far more enjoyable, as I'm limited by what I can afford now rather than…

Doesn't matter if he can eat what he wants. He needs to look after his overall health now to create a lifetime of looking after himself. My husband is 49, I'm 36, and there comes a point where your body doesn't snap back easily. Not only that but you are parents now, and which set of eating habits do you want your daughter…

I had lost 50lbs when I had one gall bladder attack that landed me in hospital overnight. I had an ultrasound in the morning, and my gallbladder was full of stones. I had emergency surgery to remove it. Since then, I've lost another 30lbs.

I'm in my 30's. When I was a kid, it was not only deemed safe and socially acceptable for children to play outside, it was actually encouraged. We all wore wristwatches, and I knew to be home at 6:00 if it was daylight out, or by dark in winter (grew up in England, so not as cold as Canadian winters lol). We also didn't…

30DS is hard, and meant to be. Do the easier version of it (the girl on the right), and if you are more flexible than Jillian (I am ever-so-slightly), revel in how you're beating her in at least the stretching part! Just push through. It will get better. What a great way to start off exercising :)

http://veggiebentolove.wordpress.com/2013/03/31/yummy-in-a-bento-moist-creamy-hummus/ From my blog. I've made this several times, and it's tasty. If you like roasted red peppers, you can dice them and blend them up too. No need to make omissions.

Well if it's already 5pm then just have a light dinner, down some water, and head to bed with a good book. Try not to drink half a litre of vodka again. Not such a great idea, as I'm sure you've figured out by now.

If you're up for cooking, try the lean green bean's quinoa breakfast bar: http://www.theleangreenbean.com/quinoa-breakfast-bars/ but make the following substitutions: -omit the nuts and throw some dark chocolate chips or extra fruit in there -omit the nut butter and use mashed banana, making sure you use the applesauce…

Crisp sandwiches are delicious! Are you under-calculating your calories and that's why you're over? I would focus on eating fruit and whole grains for the rest of the day, with lots of fluids. Try and get out for a walk around mid-afternoon when you're feeling a bit better. You're too young for a hangover to last all day.

The caffeine and phosphoric acid in the Diet Coke are what cause leaching of calcium from your bones in your body's effort to maintain a very slightly alkaline pH. However, both DC and CL contain artificial sweeteners, which can (depending on in the individual) increase cravings for sweet foods. The bottom line - drink…

It really depends on the individual. My husband's breakfast smoothies are frozen berries, a banana, orange juice and either chia or flax seeds. That keeps him going all morning, but I would drop dead after an hour and a half. Mine are protein powder, almond milk, frozen berries/other fruit, and chia/flax. He doesn't like…

My diary is open. If not, feel free to friend me, because I know my friends can see it. I don't use meal replacement shakes, but I do make smoothies for breakfast a few days a week. That being said, you can see the ingredients are pretty clean: protein powder (I alternate between whey and vegan), almond milk, frozen…

If I've been away from exercise (conferences, weeks where I'm overscheduled), then it generally takes 3 days to feel good. The trick is to push enough that you get the endorphins and increased bloodflow happening, but not overwork yourself to the point that you want to end it all now. When I was new to exercise, it took…

I eat about 2-300 of my 1500 calories per day in snacks. The trick is to make sure they're good-quality food. Whole fruit and veg, greek yogurt, trail mix, a handful of nuts, or a good-quality bar (Luna, Clif, Lara, Taste of Nature, Kind etc.) will be good. Artisanal or ww cookies etc. aren't going to provide you with a…

You will feel like you're running too slowly - go at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I still feel that I run far slower than I actually do. Get an app that will tell you when to run and when to walk that plays over your music. There's a big jump when you get to the 20 minute run, too big for me. At that point, I…

Doesn`t matter how many tries you need to get going, keep trying. If you have a day where things don`t go as planned, pick yourself up and try again the next day. Small efforts lead to small gains, which helps you feel better about the work you`re putting in, which makes you want to keep going and increase your efforts.…

If you're new to MFP, then eat what it tells you to eat, and see how you're doing after a couple of weeks. For me, I use MFP as the accountability to myself is important. So many snacky treats can add up and derail progress.

I'm vegetarian, so I find that beans, nuts, and seeds on a daily basis really help without me even trying. On the other hand, I do drink a lot of water, and eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg, so going to the bathroom is something that happens for me without really needing to worry about. Leading up to Shark Week, I up the…

I really enjoy herbal teas or even hot water with a wedge of lemon, just to mix it up. I am a teacher, and find that it's very easy to get dehydrated, and I like warm beverages, but I personally want to limit the caffeine. Over time, those 4 sugars a day add up, which is the tricky part, but if you're meeting your health,…
