  • I've been enjoying making an individual pizza using flatbread; I use one that's multi-grain with flax. I use canola oil and some spices instead of sauce since I don't really like tomato, along with turkey pepperoni instead of regular.
  • For fruit, you can always try shakes and smoothies. You can fit quite a lot into the blender! Of course it could work for vegetables, too.
  • Lots of fast-moving pop songs get me going. Basically what you might hear in a club. Dance mixes are even better since they're made to be faster and more energetic.
  • Ah I understand how you feel, too. My mother gives me strange looks when she sees me measuring out portions, and my stepfather loves to take food that's left in the pot or whatever and dump it on your plate instead of putting it away as leftovers so I feel like I'm fighting against them constantly. You just gotta truck…
  • You look really amazing (and cute, in both before and after)! Great job in getting to your goals!
  • Too bad it's a fruit, huh? someonehadtosayit
  • As others have said, weight loss fluctuates. The problem with people who look at their weight frequently is that they can get discouraged because they see what appears to be a gain. With me it looked like I had gained two pounds, but by the next morning it was back down again with a bit of a loss on top of it. There are…
  • I'm Joana, 23. Always looking for more people to motivate and help me along my own journey :)
  • 5'3 and a half. My mother's slightly shorter than me and has shown me how to deal with it, such as if a product you want is far back on a shelf, to take a nearby box and use it to extend your reach. She still has to do a little hop sometimes, though XD
  • Hey, I'm from rural Maine, too! Although with how big and rural this state is, I could still be three or four hours away from you XD Sending the request now~
  • I almost miss the days of LiveJournal when you would see a strike through a username if the account had deactivated.
  • For me, eating foods that are high in fiber really helps me to feel full for several hours so I'm not tempted to eat a ton of snacks or have a bigger meal the next time it comes around. Of course foods that are high in fiber are usually bread, so they might be higher in carbs or calories, but since you have to eat less, it…
  • Yeah you definitely aren't eating enough calories, especially if you work out five or six days a week. Talk to that personal trainer and ask them about options for eating better.
  • Oh and sweet potatoes can be a good alternative if he still wants fries. They don't taste the same (I actually don't like them much) but if he has a sweet tooth it could be what you're looking for. And they're packed with good stuff :)
  • I'd say encourage him by letting him have what he wants in a cleaner form- instead of French fries, give him boiled potatoes with the skin on (there's lots of nutrients in that skin!), give him chicken or turkey instead of a burger or heaping steak. Cutting back a little bit on that soda can do wonders as well. You don't…
  • It sounds more like impulse control issues than necessarily an "eating disorder." I've had issues with this for years; there was a time when we couldn't keep a package of cookies or donuts in the house for very long because I'd keep going back to it even when I'd just eaten a meal. If boredom has to do with it, just try…
  • MFP is definitely a good option if those kinds of programs don't work for you! Diets just aren't sustainable for some people, especially the more extreme ones, and many people work better simply cutting down portions and eating healthy in a way they'll be able to keep up for the rest of their life (I know I couldn't go the…
  • As others will tell you, there are plenty of people who can lose weight just eating at a deficit. The body naturally burns a certain amount of calories (around 1900, give or take) and eating less than that means it will start going into its 'reserves.' Exercise simply helps you because it burns calories so you don't…
  • Sending friend request :) And yes, it can happen to anyone. I might as well have been some kind of health minor in college for how many classes I took, and yet I still got stuck time and time again eating junk food and getting about three hours of sleep at night.
  • I haven't been on the site long enough to be able to tell (just about two weeks) so I can't say how accurate it is for me. However, I imagine a lot of people use it as a baseline. Like if they finish their diary and see a goal they like, they can look at what they did for exercise and food that day and maybe follow that…
  • As others have said, as long as you hit your nutrients and get a calorie deficit, it usually doesn't matter. The only time it really does is if you have some kind of medical condition, for instance sugar with diabetes, but of course that doesn't really have to do with losing weight. In fact, for many people, it's better to…
  • Well I also found this: http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes_menus/recipe_slideshows/irresistible_cookies_for_100_calories_or_less?slide=1#leaderboardad A bunch of cookies at a hundred calories or less each. Of course if they're as good as they claim it might be hard to only eat one, but at least you can feel less guilty…
  • You can't go wrong with Jell-O, in my opinion. Mix it up for squares and then use cookie cutters and you can even have some fun shapes!
  • The site has the nutritional information posted http://bloominbrandscms.blob.core.windows.net/carrabbas-menus/CIG-NUTRITION-INFO-10-11-13.pdf there. I don't know how accurate it is and I've never been to a Carrabba's myself, but it's something to go on, I suppose.
  • If you don't already have a slow cooker, it's a good idea to invest in one. Depending on the size you can cook whole slabs of meat or whole birds in it and, like the first reply said, simply pull it apart and use it for sandwiches or toppings on a salad. You can throw in vegetables with it too, and then just microwave them…
  • Ooh, this is definitely one I'm saving, especially since you've used turkey products in the recipe so I know their stats with them (big fan of using turkey pepperoni instead of regular).
  • I typically have two whole grain waffles, two slices of turkey bacon and a bowl of Cheerios. I eat a lot of turkey through the day, in fact XD Turkey sandwich for lunch, for instance. No "real" bacon or ham for me.
  • Yeah I actually switched from tracking sugar to tracking protein. As others have said, watch where it comes from. Fruit is better for sugar than a cookie for several reasons.
  • I'm 23 and looking to lose about thirty pounds for now. Lost almost four so I'm just starting out and would love support and to offer support to others!
  • "When it comes to long-term side effects, many health professionals are concerned that the Atkins diet may have serious dangers. While the high intake of fat, particularly saturates, may increase the risk of heart disease, there are also concerns that the unbalanced nature of the Atkins diet may lead to nutritional…
