Even if it says washed, wash it again. It is covered with saponin which is natural soap. Boil it up in chicken broth. If you still don't like it then hey, you gave it your best:)

Papaya like persimmons only taste sweet when they look revoltingly rotten. Otherwise they taste soapy.

Steak and kidney pie. Golden flaky crust, rich beefy gravy interior, I was just about to bite down and got a whiff. Turns out the scent of urine is just a no go for me. The jaws clamped shut. I threw away so much food the first 3 months. I learned to cut recipes waaaay down. Some things I am happy to eat on for a week like my lentil sambar or pot roast. Some things I just couldn't eat fast enough and they weren't good for freezing. But 90 days is not a bad learning curve. Those green bags are very helpful…
