Oatmeal with fruit is my go to. There are several overnight oatmeal recipes that you mix up the night before and it's ready to go in the morning. What about protein and fruit smoothie? Hardboiled eggs can be fixed and peeled in advance. Poached egg can be cooked in the microwave in a minute. Any left overs in your frig…

I've had PCOS for 25 yrs and other than being on BC, I never had any other treatment for it for 20 yrs. I'm a RN and I have never heard of PCOS turning into cancer. I believe I wouldn't be too concerned about that at all. I've really had no issues with BC. For a few years I did continual BC, so I wouldn't have any periods,…

I grow and make my own during the summer and can it for enjoying over the winter months. If you have a food chopper, it's very simple to make your own.

I was always one of the bigger girls in my class, although in hindsight I really wasn't that over weight. I played sports year round and got plenty of exercise. For me, the big change was when I went to college. I was no longer active yet was eating anything I wanted. I also developed PCOS which caused a lot of weight…

That's wonderful! Good for you!

Fantastic! Congrats on your loss.

I came here in December after being diagnosed type 2 diabetic. (The diabetes educator told me about mfp.) With medication, diet and exercise I've successfully improved my labs back to normal levels in 3 months and we talked about stopping the metformin completely. I opted to stay on it for now as I feel it's playing a huge…

It's been a few days, so I hope things are settling down a little for you. My best advise is to do what you can during the day. Take the stairs, park further away and walk the parking lot, walk during lunch etc. By being active during the day it'll help you feel less stressed about not truly working out. I have an office…

I'm sorry you find yourself in such a tough situation. The precut veggies is a great idea. I'll also suggest tuna. I buy the pre-made tuna salad pouches from Starkist. They do not require refrigeration and full of protein. Mission carb balance tortilla wraps have 13gm fiber, are great for wraps and keep longer than bread…

I've not tried it specifically but have been doing this in an unplanned way. As type 2 diabetic, I have to count carbs. So I have mostly low carb days but allow myself a couple of days of more moderate carbs. My moderate days are still lower than most people eat but higher for me if that makes sense. I suppose one could…

I look for protein, fiber and healthy fats to fill me up. I love Mission carb balance tortilla wraps because they have 13gm fiber and 5gm protein per wrap. Fill it with your chicken salad and veggies. I love making one with eggs, cheese and a little mayo for breakfast. Add a cup of milk and I'm set for hours. I also like…

Another tip- take starting photos and measurements. You don't have to post the photos here or even show them to anyone but you'll want them for yourself. It's sometimes very hard to see the progress you are making and the scale doesn't always cooperate. Having these other tools to help you will get you past those…

I lost 12lbs the first 2 weeks but I have an ongoing problem with fluid retention. I have noticed though that after making all of these lifestyle changes, I have significantly less problems with it.

I didn't start out taking photos either, so I only have face photos to compare, but it really does help. In my own eyes, I struggle to see the changes sometimes even though those around me do. Congrats on your success so far! I know to post photos you need to use something like Photobucket and copy the URL over to your…

I've seen a lot of differing answers to this here. The consensus seems to be that MFP tends to over estimate calorie burn and if you're not measuring everything, then we tend to under estimate some food times. Given both, the usual suggestion is to try eating half the calories burned and see what results you get. You can…

2 lbs a week is considered a really good loss and you are above that by a pound, so yes that's a great start on your journey.

You can simply use the custom settings and adjust your carb level to what you'd like.

Ditto what was already said. Log everything, eat within your goal limits and get active. Going on a "diet" is often unsuccessful. Why? Because a diet comes to an end and most people regain all that they lost and then some.

In a nutshell, yes. Your body isn't as used to the sugar as it was. PCOS with insulin resistance generally needs a reduced carb diet. Fruit is loaded with carbs from the natural sugars, some more so than others. One strategy is to have a protein with those carbs to help slow down absorption. For example, a tsp of peanut…

My NSV today was shopping in the regular ladies section instead of the women's/plus section of the store. The clothes are soooo much cuter in sz 16 than in 22/24s.

Awesome! I've noticed it's easier to click my seatbelt, as I don't have to try to scoot my behind over to find the other end. It's the little things that make all the difference in the world. Congrats on losing 80!

You do not have to eliminate all carbs but aim for a reduction. I am type 2 and my goal is 135gm/day max, meals 30-45gm and snacks 15gm. I think what your doctor is getting at is to eat a healthy diet in General. You can still have those fast food treats but limit them to occasional and not daily.

The more weight you have to lose, the faster you will lose starting out. You also lose a lot of your water weight in the first month as well. I say as long as you are getting close to your calorie goal and macros every day, then you should be fine. But if you are only eating 1000cals a day, then that's a problem.
-
That is awesome! I know to feels great to see some tangible evidence that what you are doing is working.

I really like Mission carb balance tortilla wraps. 13gm fiber, 5gm protein, only 6gm net carbs (19 total)

Diet coke has no calories and shouldn't negatively affect your weight loss. The headaches actually come from caffeine withdrawal. Since diet coke has caffeine in it, you're not experiencing that withdrawal. But if you plan to stop soda altogether, I'd suggest gradually switching some of the diet coke to the caffeine free…

You'll probably get as many different answers as there are dieting suggestions. First, look at do you have any medical issues which require specific dietary restrictions. If no, then you are really open to create whatever kind of plan works for your lifestyle. Try one, like eating the big breakfast, for a week to see how…

It's also good to keep in mind though that something which affects you negatively may not bother another person one bit, so there's really not an "avoid at all cost" list which applies to everyone. It must be personalized to the individual.

Hi ya'll! I'm a type 2 since December. I've been able to get my blood work back to normal using diet, exercise and metformin. My doc said I could go back off the metformin if I wanted to try it. I said heck no, I'm finally losing weight while taking it and I'm not messing with a good thing just yet. Anyone looking for a…
