  • I've found I just stop seeing progress if I don't change up what I do every couple of months. I typically stick with an hour of cardio per day as many days a week as I can work in (normally 6) and a few 30ish minute strength training sessions. I vary up what sort of cardio and weights I do though. Right now it's either…
  • I lost a size pretty quickly after getting the Mirena IUD, but it didn't last long. Looking back I suspect it had something to do with the drop in hormones when I initially got it, and now that I've had the thing 2 years, the hormones have built back up. I'm getting it taken out soon because it's caused so many other…
  • You are so stinkin' cute in both pictures, but what a huge difference! Congrats!
  • Here's mine! Last year at the Renaissance Festival vs. this year. Down 40 lbs or so. Need to buy a new outfit when I can afford it!
  • Here's mine! I adapted it from a few I found on Pinterest. If you make it just like this, it's only about 80 calories. I've seen recipes where pumpkin puree is mixed in, too, and still want to try that out. Recipe (made in a French press): 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice 3 tbsp coffee (hazelnut coffee tastes best with this recipe,…
  • Same here. I was following my weight-loss doc's advice to never eat them back for months and saw better results. I also wasn't exercising 6 days a week like I am now though and wasn't as hungry. Currently I'm trying to eat as little back as I can handle, and making sure when I do eat them back, it's in the form of a…
  • I just started drinking coffee for the first time ever about 3 weeks ago. I always hated the taste before, but something changed (may be because I cut so much sugar out of my diet this year and things I used to consider bitter taste ok to me now). Anyway, with changing my diet, I started suffering some digestive problems-…
  • I highly recommend these chocolate muffins!! So long as you don't overdo it with the chocolate chips, they're only 50 calories each. They were one of the first "diet" dessert recipes that I tried, and still my favorite: http://livingdomesticallyimpaired.blogspot.com/2014/04/50-calorie-miracle-muffins.html My near-daily…
  • I made a pretty delicious summer salad this week! 53 calories per serving! Recipe is here: http://livingdomesticallyimpaired.blogspot.com/2014/07/watermelon-heirloom-tomato-summer-salad.html Next time I think I'll toss in some cucumbers :)
  • I whipped up some pretty awesome tasting roast carrot "steak fries" last night! Dipped them in some hummus and they were amazing! Every bit as good as french fries, for sure. Recipe: http://livingdomesticallyimpaired.blogspot.com/2014/06/rosemary-parmesan-roast-carrot-steak.html Nutrition Facts (per 2 slice serving):…
  • The only one I've found that I genuinely think tastes good is BodyLogix Natural Whey's vanilla flavor. Even just mixed with water, it tastes like a white chocolate milkshake to me! It's also got one of the best calorie to protein ratios I've found- 120 calories for 24g protein, I think.
  • I'm all nervous to even post these, I am so conflicted between pride and shame! I have more (non-blurry) before and afters here, from when I officially started my fitness journey: http://livingdomesticallyimpaired.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html ...and I thought those were pretty good until I found this horrendous picture of…
  • In for the advice! I've also been having a huge problem with this and never took into consideration that I could stand to be getting more fat in my diet. My intake for that is pretty low normally.
  • You are very welcome! Hope you enjoy them! :)
  • Is it bad that this actually made me tear up a little bit? Really, thanks for this post! I can relate entirely!
  • In for the ideas here! Love rhubarb!
  • In for the ideas! I love figs so much. I made a breakfast tart recipe over the weekend I'd like to try them on, but it's so hard to find fresh ones where I live. I made a whole wheat crust, spread goat cheese over it, and topped it with raspberries, honey, pecans, and rosemary...but I bet figs would be even better than the…
  • Here's my Vanilla Berry Protein Pancakes! Recipe here if anyone is interested: http://livingdomesticallyimpaired.blogspot.com/2014/06/vanilla-berry-protein-pancakes.html 285 calories 2g fat 33g carbs 33.5g protein 4g fiber 2.5g sugar They are soooo delicious and keep me full better than anything in the morning!
  • Mmm this sounds delicious! I make something similar with polenta: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/122512052338073915/ I really want to try a version with meat though!
  • I can't wait to try this!!
  • Great motivation- thanks! I feel so much better if I get up and exercise just for 30 minutes....I just really need to work on #1!
  • I like your approach! I don't have kids, but I've acquired a goddaughter, a niece, and a baby half-brother in the past year, and that's made me consider how I'd approach the healthy eating situation with my own kids someday, or if I were caring for the kids I mentioned. I was never an overweight kid and don't remember my…
  • Congrats to you! I find I can't even let myself have one when it comes to chocolate chip cookies and the like....if I do, I just find justification for having more. I'm really lucky if I can stop at two, especially if I'm around good company and socializing.
  • Fantastic job! I ate one big meal a day for years and was slightly thinner than I am even now, but I was also a teenager/in my very early 20s/didn't have a desk job and I figure my metabolism had something to do with it. I admit I'd love it if going back to one REALLY satisfying meal a day could work for me. I went on a…
  • I checked out your diary and I'm impressed with how you managed 1600 calories a day with such a big breakfast! That's my maintenance intake goal (I think- testing out different numbers). I like the big breakfast, small salad for lunch, decent sized dinner method you're doing and think I'll try it. I find I'm always…
  • My method is probably going to earn me a scolding from other people, but if I have a seriously intense workout day where I KNOW I have burned a ton of calories, I usually just give myself a no-logging-the-calories relax and enjoy life meal. I've been logging long enough to know if I'm going overboard though, and if I'm in…
  • Mine is actually being able to see some muscle definition in my legs! I've been able to feel it there for months, but it's just now becoming visible, at least to me. I've always despised my chunky legs, so this gives me hope I can actually change them and someday feel confident showing them off.
  • Hello fellow nerds and weirdos- I'm a big fan of anything Tolkien, Doctor Who, reading, Anne Rice, anime, Game of Thrones, Renaissance festival type stuff, and am involved with some more obscure, eccentric hobbies like BJDs and BPAL perfume oil collecting. Used to frequent anime conventions fairly often before The Real…
  • I stuck to 1100 a day for my weight loss, but it was part of a doctor prescribed plan where I had appetite suppressors to help me. I don't recommend the pills, really, but without them I know I could not have stuck to even 1200 a day very easily! Maybe wean your way down to that number? The doctor got 1100 for me by…
