  • I've been at my goal weight since August 2011, been on MFP for over a year now. I don't always log my food anymore and when I do it's mostly to track my protein and make sure I'm still in the right ballpark calorie wise. I don't plan on stopping any time soon though because I feel like I need to pay it back. I received so…
  • There's a lot of sugar in fruit and that's what is contributing to the calorie counts. Most people recommend that you try to stick to 1-2 servings of fruit while you're trying to loose weight, as anything you can get from fruit, you can also get from veggies (without the sugar & high cal count!). Based on what you…
  • I roast a spaghetti squash or two every weekend for quick prep later on in the week. While the squash is roasting, I saute about 2lbs of ground beef with garlic and onion. I put both in the fridge. After work I'll toss some of the squash and some veggies (usually a frozen stir fry mix) in a pan with some coconut oil. Once…
  • If it comes frozen in a package, it's probably not clean. The best way to know for sure is to check the ingredients label. I would consider most frozen veggies to be "clean", as they generally have zero added to them (sometimes salt, again you need to check!) but anything that's seasoned or breaded, like fish sticks, is…
  • I share the unpopular opinion! The "look" I like on women who do wear make up tends to be minimal with neutral colors.
  • This makes me happy because the only time I've ever worn make up was to my prom in high school (and that was almost ten years ago now!). I have never even owned my own make up, other than lip balm and maybe a clear gloss or two.
  • Just ignore him. Some people seem to live their lives on message boards and internet forums. For some reason, winning debates against strangers really gets them going. I find people like this tend to think themselves VERY smart when in reality, they're a little too close-minded/set on their own opinion of something to be…
  • This is true for me as well. I started paleo in October, not tracking calories, and unintentionally lost an additional 10 lbs ( I was already at my goal weight when I made the switch). I started tracking food again in Feb/March of this year and I definitely find it hard to meet my calorie & protein goals each day in an…
  • I try not to be TOO hard on myself when I have to eat out at a restaurant. I'll typically order some kind of meat (usually steak or ribs) with a side salad. I try to pick house made salad dressing but if not, I don't stress over it. The only time I have questionable condiments is when I eat out, which I don't do often. I…
  • I used to be addicted to diet coke. I could go through a case of 12 cans in 2-3 days. It was basically all I drank. I don't know what motivated me to cut it out, because I did it quite a few years before I started trying to lose weight. But I tried to cut it out several times by "weaning" myself off it and it never worked.…
  • I've been on MFP for over a year and I'm STILL buying things. Since joining, in order: -Hand weights -Yoga Mat -Food scale -New running shoes -Sports bra (most expensive bra/article of clothing I've EVER purchased) -Whey Protein -New flat-soled shoes for strength training -Weight bench/straight bar/weights -Entire new…
  • When I did the 30 Day Shred originally, I did it 3-4 times a week when I could. If I only managed 2-3 days, it wasn't a big deal to me. It was still more than I was doing BEFORE (i.e. NOTHING) so I figured I would still see results, and I did. I also didn't hurt myself or burn out from exercise. If I could find the link to…
  • I had pneumonia a few years ago and continued pushing myself to school every day (walked there and back, only about 20 mins each way so didn't seem like a big deal at the time!) so that I could write a very important calculus test that was scheduled on Friday. Thursday, on my walk home, I started having severe pains in my…
  • I've been eating paleo for 6 mths now with only a few cheats here and there. I log food sporadically (mostly for protein & ratio tracking purposes) but feel free to add me!
  • I've checked out the New Rules of Lifting for Women and it seems solid enough. When I started looking into Strength Training, I bought an ebook called "Beautiful Badass" when it was on sale. It's pretty neat, written and developed by Nia Shanks, a rather successful female trainer. I like her no nonsense approach, and as I…
  • The scale is a tricky beast. Just because the number on it may be going up, doesn't necessarily mean anything bad is happen. http://bit.ly/HqSJOZ
  • Apple. I always feel obnoxiously loud when I have one for snack at work.
  • I've made the pumpkin spice cake/muffins with cinnamon frosting on this page a few times for holidays/special occasions. They are well received, most people don't realize they're eating something made without regular flour. The texture is similar to banana bread.…
  • Success posts are great, don't get me wrong. But you can get to the Before/After photos many numerous ways. Some people continue to eat fast food and as long as they stay under calories, will lose the weight they want. So before/after photos aren't a good way to "win" the argument.
  • I won't lie, I don't even CLICK on a link to the main boards if I suspect it is another "paleo/primal" topic. For the most part, I think people have made their decision one way or another, whether it makes sense or not. It just seems like a huge waste of time/effort to argue about something that I know works for me and…
  • Wow! Great work, I love seeing posts like this! Inspiring!
  • Yea, you might need to provide more info if you would like some advice. Open your diary so we can see what a typical day is like for you food & exercise wise. Also, how long have you been doing this? How much weight do you have to lose? What do you have your goal weight & loss settings to?
  • That could be quite true monkeydharma, I don't often get to see wild animals with zero human interaction in their diets. But I have observed this happening in many different types of animals on my grandfathers farm (he never fed any of his animals diets other than they would have in nature) and in the local wildlife park.…
  • ^^ Exactly :D
  • OMG it's nature! GROSS! Seriously though, a lot of animals eat their own feces sometimes. I wouldn't be too concerned.
  • Hahaha I love this. Thanks for posting another great graphic :D
  • I started on MFP last February and religiously logged my food for over 6 mths. When I started paleo in October, I was nervous about no longer tracking, but after doing it for so long and being in maintenance for almost 3 months before I started paleo, I was ready for a break. I stopped tracking my intake for everything in…
  • I don't think no one hears you out "b/c you're not skinny". I've reached my goal weight and am "skinny" and I still get a lot of pushback from people who ask me about my eating habits. People will go from saying "omg, you look so great and look at your skin! It's glowing!" to "omg, you're going to kill yourself eating that…
  • The basic rule is if you can find grass-fed meats, don't be scared of the fat. If you can't and are buying your meat from a grocery store, it's probably CAFO. Then you should stick to the lean cuts and ADDING your fat of choice to cook it in (coconut oil, grass-fed butter, etc).
