lol... i actually just thought of that while trying to think of advice for you and i'm totally going to use it for myself! i thought of one other thing that i do though... you'd be surprised how satisfying it feels to have a glass of club soda with lime mixed in with your friends' drinks... not only do they not give you a…

ps - sorry about my picture, that's probably not helping! :embarassed:

First off - volunteer to DD! When you know the group, or anyone, is depending on you to get home safe, it's a lot easier to keep your intake down. Second - when you do drink, go for a vodka soda (or my new summer fav: coconut rum with club soda, topped with a tiny splash of pineapple juice: a 70calorie pina coloda!) Third…

i love those mini chocolate chips... i take 10-15 of them and eat them one or two at a time. :-)

right... so if i have the mental issue but I am not obese, am I disabled? There is a severe, stark and very important difference between "disabled" and "sick."
-
This is why she is NOT disabled: "This is not to say that I am not now proud of my body, in some ways, I feel very lucky to be fat, I have never wanted to conform or be 'normal', so I often feel blessed in my difference." A disability is not something that someone feels lucky to have... no one without arms is glad they…

...that's interesting, i hadn't ever heard that. I can say, though, that I have hypoparathyroidism and so my blood calcium is in a constant state of change, and although i definitely feel my blood calcium levels drop after cola (which i therefore won't touch anymore!), i've never had that problem with non-phosphoric acid…

I love club soda and drink it all the time with lime, juice, or a tiny squirt of flavored syrup!
-
I saute it with a small amount of olive oil and some diced shallots and garlic... then i use it as a base for a healthy pizza! add some low fat mozz, a sprinkling of parmesan, some grilled chicken breast strips... and lots of other veggies. delish!

you're just making them feel guilty about their own crappy diets. keep it up!!
-
I agree with the 2 other posters... i think you really, really need to cut down on your carbs and sugars. try 40% protein, 35% carbs, and 25% fat and try keep your (non-whole fruit) sugars to 20g. I bet you'll see a HUGE difference!!

This is definitely a personal thing... I prefer to because it keeps me in check and keeps me on track! BUT you have to be really reasonable about it and realize it can go up and down a LOT. I only actually document it on Thursdays. If it's going to mess with your head and break your motivation, only do it once a week (or…

6 months left... but i'll fake 29 for a while i think ;-)

no one ever gets to be overweight from eating too much fruit :-) if you are nervous about the sugar... make sure you are eating whole fruits (not juices, even if they are 100%). your body will digest and process the sugar much slower when you have the fiber and other "stuff" in fruit along with the sugars, and it won't…

Clearly a lot of differing opinions on the topic! I use stevia to sweeten coffee and other things, but i will occasionally (1x a week?) have a diet pop with dinner or something. I want to cut it out... it's too controversial for my tastes. I agree with the idea that in 20-40 years, we will be disgusted with ourselves for…

dinovino - 9... so cutie!!

a little history - My BMR usually lands somewhere around 1400 a day, so: - I went a very long time (like, months & years) eating 1200 calories a day and was gaining despite "normal" thyroid numbers (this is pre-Armour) - I got fed up and went to see a weight management doctor who wanted me to go on phentermine and eat…

I love the feeling of sore... but not so sore that I can't make it down the hallway!!!! That has happened a few times and made for a miserable (and super lazy) day! I like the kind of sore that will mostly go away once i start moving around again :-)
-
good tip!!! some stevia lemonade would be great for the summer, too! is it the acidity, or something about the lemon? do you think lime would work just as well?
-
That should be alright. Calcium occurs naturally in milk and won't have as strong of an effect on your thyroid meds. I have hypothyroidism and hypoparathyroidism (which pretty much means I have to take calcium supplements all day to prevent seizures and other issues) so I have quite the balancing act with my calcium and…

UGH he is projecting his own self-consciousness. you are NOT a fatty. you're not. fatties dont try, fatties don't eat well, and fatties are totally different from you!!! don't let this jerk bring you down, know that you're better and healthier than him and feel free to tell him you found that incredibly rude and that if…
