One gets crucified if they even dare to mention somatotypes here at MFP (or other places). Tall and lanky as in fashion models, lots of basketball players, etc... can all easily be shamed for being skinny. The psychologist William Sheldon who labeled the somatotypes, called that "type" ectomorph. Whatever you call that…

Screw that. Get some gloves!

I have done both. The fee for our local YMCA gym was a discounted $38 a month for me (due to my place of employment), plus an additional fee for family members. The stipulation to get the discount included everyone had to use the gym at least 8 times per month to maintain the discount. I couldn't see myself doing that…

All kinds of adapters are available so you can mount a nice, normal cycling saddle on an exercise bike. Here's an example... http://www.derriair.com/exercise-bike-seat-adaptors.htm

Without a good base riding plan before you entered the "block training of 3 days on of HIIT, one day off" - it's quite a bit of training stress for you to adapt to so suddenly in the first two weeks. Heck, I'm in great shape and it would knock me flat doing that much HIIT without recovery between. Nothing wrong with the…

Very reasonable and won't require as much of a deficit as say a pound per week. So you'll be less grumpy. B) It won't be linear, but stick to your goal. Some weeks might be less than .5 pounds and some might be a bit more.

Yes, I highly suggest keeping the discipline of stretching and using heat (some prefer cold) - even when things are seemingly hunky dory. My lower back pain can come and go (at will appears sometimes). So staying diligent with regard to stretching, working out the hot spots, and general maintenance tends to lessen the…

The more aggressive one's position is on the bike, the more apt they are to ride in a toe down position (such as time trials). Example of two great aggressive riders in history: http://djconnel.blogspot.com/2013/07/time-trial-position-anquetil-versus.html We could also say, the further back on a bike a rider prefers to…

I've got the tall lanky body type as well. Add in age to boot along with arthritis diagnosed in my lower back - I can relate. Did they do an x-ray or image (MRI/Ultrasound) on your partner to confirm? There are so many types of arthritis, that it's not always an easy, straight forward diagnosis. Symptoms can come and go…

You lose weight due to a calorie deficit known as CICO (calories in vs. calories out). To lose the 60kg/132 pounds, you will have to eat less each day than your body needs to reach that goal. Yes, you can lift weights in hopes of maintaining as much muscle mass as possible during that process, but outside of your newbie…

Tell your spin instructor that some of the best Tour de France riders have been "toe down". Such as 5 time winner Jacques Antquetil, 7 time winner Lance Armstrong (even though his wins were yanked for doping), Iban Mayo, and many others over the years. It's all preference. Toe up, toe down, foot flat. It all works and…

Congrats on the 30 pound loss. Don't feel bad if you still feel the same - or think you still feel the same. The loss to date represents 12% from your original starting size of 282. As you work downwards and that percentage increases, you will start to feel different compared to where you are now. Where that point is will…

Simple: Dump the soda and sweets cold turkey. Switch to water, green tea, black tea and a snack of an apple a day. We can't help you with that - only you can help yourself. A few days of cravings and you'll get over it. No pain, no gain. You don't need sweets and soda to enjoy food and life, so just dump 'em - and move on…

Yes, I'm healed. A slice of pumpkin pie after a long work day did the trick. B)
-
Yes, yes - I am well aware of that, and I did expect a response or two such as yours. "Lose weight in the kitchen"....and what not which I firmly espouse. CICO rules - whether one is exercising or not. But based on the OP's silly Axx handle of Antonio Scala (sic as they didn't even spell it right) and only 2 posts - I'm…

We don't know the OP's goal/desire in terms of how much "appreciable amount". I'm certainly an advocate of weight lifting. However, Champagne's post correctly pointed out that water is a great resistance training tool. Lots of folks have built up their bodies via swimming and nutrition without using any weights to achieve…

Swimming is one of the best forms of resistance exercise in terms of cardio that is available. Certainly good for muscle toning, and muscle can be built.

Ride a bike at least 8 hours a week. Or go for a 60 - 90 minute run 6 days a week.

It's all a pretty wild axx guess. You would be much better off just looking in the mirror and comparing your physique with the various photos of body fat percentage. You will probably be just as accurate.

Tell that to the professional marathon runners who compete at Boston, NYC, LA, Houston, Berlin, London, Seoul, Tokyo, Chicago, Dubai, etc... for real cash = usually $60,000 $150,000. However some pay up to $250,000 for 1st place. Which pales in comparison to what some countries will pay their Olympic athletes who win the…
-
Not to mention - she won. Yup. $250,000 was her prize. It was a competition, and she plain and simple won the prize. I still have kudos for her winning the quarter of a million. She was "in it to win it".

Yes, if you continue losing fat the stomach will appear slimmer.
