  • I use kj (also Aussie), and have noticed a bit of a bug in the recipe builder - when using a computer to add ingredients to a recipe, it adds then as calories instead of kj, despite the rest of the recipe being in kj. But if you save your changes, then go back to the recipe, it corrects itself, and the nutritional info is…
  • I made this tonight - delicious! Made much more than I could eat and so filling (made it for dessert), so next time I'll make a half serve. For anyone working in grams, I worked with: 120g mashed pumpkin 120g fat free cottage cheese 30g vanilla protein powder 5-7 ice cubes 250ml water 2g cinnamon 1g pumpkin pie spice or…
  • I also ate it cold (love my cold overnight oats!), but suspect the mix up was in converting the measurements - my measuring cup was already in use, so I converted to grams and used my scales. Nevermind, it's definitely a keeper, great for a guilt-free chocolate hit! Haven't made overnight oats in a little while (I go…
  • I've been making skinny peanut butter cups, which are working wonders to curb my chocolate cravings! Only 76kj (18 cal) per serve, handy because they are kept in the freezer, so it takes about 10 mins to defrost (which means I'm less likely to mindlessly eat them!). Combination from a couple of recipes I found online.
  • I made this last night, and was delicious! Must have stuffed up the mix - it was very liquidy, so I added some more oats in the morning, and served with bananas and coconut flakes. YUM!
  • I'm bewitched by all the food prepping images floating around instagram and reddit, with all the sectioned containers, the concept intrigues me. But at the end of the day, what I currently do seems to work for me. Breakfasts are super simple and quick (oats with fruit, occasionally make a batch of overnight oats and split…
  • Love podcasts! Current favourites are: Foodstuff, Lore, The Moth, Radio Lab, Stuff You Missed in History Class & This American Life. Enjoyed the first Serial and S-Town when they came out too. Think I'll try some of the ones mentioned above too, thanks
  • My favourite is "pumpkin pie overnight oats" - 150g rolled oats, 15g chia, 10ml vanilla essence, 12g brown sugar, 2tsp cinnamon, 400ml almond & coconut milk, 250g mashed pumpkin, 24g PB2. Makes 4 serves (1123kj/270cal per serve). My other favourite is a coconut version - 20g shredded coconut, 170g coconut chobani, 2tsp…
  • Fabulous work :)
  • Rotten week! Hope it's improving now
  • Oh my, I don't think this is the case in Australia - will have to try it next time I'm in the states ;)
  • Melbourne based here, always looking for new friends :) I've been active over the past two years, have lost the bulk of my weight, and am back at it to get rid of the last pesky kgs. Am incorporating calorie counting with walking and (more recently) weight sessions at gym.
  • Loving the recipes, thanks. It's mid winter here in Australia, so very much soup time ;) My current favourite: CURRY PUMPKIN SOUP 750ml water 400ml light coconut milk 2kg pumpkin 180g curry recipe base DIRECTIONS Combine the flavour base, pumpkin and water in a large saucepan over high heat. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat…
  • In Australia, we have two sets of data on our labels - kj (cal) per serving AND kj (cal) per 100 grams. This means that when you're at home and have your food scales out, it's simple to check that you're eating a 'serving' worth. It also means you can compare like foods at the supermarket very easily and quickly. But if…
  • I have just started listening to this episode (I keep the episodes as a special treat for when I'm at gym) - will report back on Monday after my session - seems like a good one to listen to whilst doing my weights ;)
  • It is a learning curve, attempting to get decent information on rehnauds, isn't it?! Thanks for your insight. I'm currently on amlodipine for the rehnauds, because I also have slightly high blood pressure, and the dr thought it may help both. It doesn't seem to have made any difference to either condition, so I am heading…
  • Fabulous work, fantastic dedication! My ears pricked up at "rehnauds phenomenon" - I also have this, but suspect my weight loss triggered it somewhat - I've had it for a couple of years, but it's only in the past 2 years that it has become considerably worse, coinciding with my 30kg weight loss. Have you found the weight…
  • I love walking too :) About a year ago I received a fitbit, and started trying to get my 10,000 steps. I was surprised to find that if I didn't put any work into it, I was only getting about 2000 steps a day (still true actually). Fast forward a year, and I'm now walking a minimum of 6km a day, but regularly closer to 10km…
  • Oh the Kayano look nice! Do you know what the difference between the 19 vs 20 vs 21 are - is it just the newer models? Have you ever compared them to the GT2000's?
  • Sorry guys, I did read all of the replies, but then lost the thread! Thanks for replying, I've now got a cheapy set of scales, and am back in business :)
  • Oh fantastic, thanks for all of the replies, I'm really looking forward to the trip! I only booked my tickets a couple of days ago, and leave in about a week, so am racing around trying to get organised! I've been to the US a few times, most recently was in Jan/Feb last year, to Tucson and California. I just love the…

  • Hey, me too~! However I've decided that with birthday celebrations and Christmas celebrations, I'll be going well to maintain this month! Still, I'm so close to a 'healthy BMI', I'd love to lose the 2kg needed to get to it :)
  • I'm new to the challenge! My friends are doing a charity bike ride in April, I've not really ridden since I was a kid, but I've decided to give it a shot. I went out a bought a pushbike, so now I'm ready lol. The ride is either 30km or 50km. Since I got my bike in September, I've been doing twice weekly 5km rides. I've…
  • I have one, I have one! I'm staying at a hotel, and just realised that the normal sized towels wrap around my body, without showing the world everything! (I normally use a massive bath sheet that is very good at not showing the world my everything!)
  • Overnight oats - google them, there are tonnes of recipes out there, but my fav is currently oats, chia seeds, a little brown sugar, cinnamon, almond (or coconut) milk, vanilla essence and mashed pumpkin. Mix up and refrigerate overnight, serve with fresh fruit. Takes about 10 mins to make a batch, I tend to make enough…
  • When I first started, I emptied my house of all 'temptations' and stuck to what I think of as 'healthy foods'. I had terrible willpower, and this really helped me. Once I got through the first month or so, and starting seeing the weight drop off, this was enough motivation for me, and I re-introduced junk food into the…
  • Oh I've never heard of this, thanks for bringing it up, I'll add it to my list of stuff to buy next time I'm in the US ;)
  • Yep, this is starting to happen to me too lol. Doesn't help that when I eat out at a restaurant, most of the healthier options are the chicken or the fish dishes!
  • fantastic work, congrats :) The Jamie Oliver chicken range - coles or woolies? Is that a spice range, or fresh chicken?
