You can actually lift on successive days but if you do you should be working different muscle groups, ie chest and triceps one day and biceps and back/shoulders the next. I generally do an hour+ of cardio daily and lift 4 days a week.

I'm new to this site but have managed to lose a significant amount of weight in the last year. When I started it was hard to get a really good workout without going to the gym and using the elliptical, etc. My knees couldn't take the pounding of long runs. The key is to get your heart rate up, walking can only do so much…
