This is the best post I've ever seen on MFP. Thank you for sharing.

I find the same thing if I work out in the morning (I usually go in the evening). I also pre-log my food for the day - but I also spread my meals out during the day i.e. breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack etc. When I'm hungry, I have a hot cup of green tea first - usually drinking that distracts me for long…

This thread is amazing, thanks to everyone posting!

As much as your can, set yourself up to succeed. Things will always come up that you can't control, but if you can do the best you can, most of the time, you'll get there. I found it useful getting one meal under control consistently and then moving on from there to the other meals - I did breakfast first. I planned out in…

Depends how lactose intolerant you are, but I have no trouble eating goats cheese. It's a different flavour to regular cheese, but it's delicious! Where I am you can get several varities - feta like ones, soft cheeses - but if you want to grill it look out for a mild cheddar maybe.

So beautiful and sad Oedipa - your way with words and your bravery for sharing are amazing.

I have nothng to add, but wanted to thank steve and SideSteel for their advice! I do weight training and am starting to look at maintenance so great info :)

He might want you to commit to a year of turning up at gym, maybe not actually signing a bit of paper that locks you in with him specifically? If you've mentioned your concerns about motivation to him, this could be a way to help you with that. Seeing your individual workouts as part of your end goals over a longer time…

When I started with my PT he noticed I tend to roll my left knee in when I do anything. So I went to a physio who gave me a set of exercises to strengthen the muscles around the knee and my glutes. Stronger knee/glutes, plus better form = much better knees! Might be worth even one session with someone to check your form -…

Agree with making your goals clear. I've had personal trainers before but was very vauge about what I wanted so they couldn't really help me - which turned out well really. Becuase this time I was more specific about type of trainer I thought I'd feel comfortable with, and let him know what I wanted to do and where I…

As everyone else has said, marry your best friend. Or don't. There's no need to. I always said I would never get married, never wanted the whole white wedding bleh. It's different for everyone, some people grow up with scrapbooks of dresses and churches and the expectation it's the biggest/best day of their lives. Not…

I have been working with a PT, and he's fabulous. I went to my gym, told them what my goals were and what I liked/didn't like (i.e. I really don't find being yelled at motivating - some people do) and they assigned someone to me based on that. Maybe have a think about what your goals are (weight loss, getting buff) if you…

Huge effort, that's great! I found the same thing - I set my initial goal waaay too easy looking back - and as I've gone along I've reset my goals/expectations as I've hit them. It's fun! Awesome job with the running - I've been running a bit myself and enjoying it. Never thought I'd say that!

"Wow, you've lost a lot of weight haven't you - well done!" From the lady at the desk of my gym. Also, that I go to the gym now enough for her to recognise me :)

Agree with the advice to log for a few days, just to get a general idea of the amounts what you should be eating - for me this is the most valuable part of MFP. It took my partner a while to get used to my changed eating habits - but that's becuase I had been horribly OVEREATING for all the time I've know him! It was a…

You look amazing! And so jealous of your Teresa Sharpe work :)

Maybe try taking some progress pics of yourself, rather than relying on the scales? I found it helpful to actually SEE the changes - especially when I was working hard and the scales weren't doing what I expected! Scale weight can fluctuate so much due to so many factors, as everyone has mentioned. But if you're losing…

Haha, misread. Weigh-in could be useful! :)

I use half a Quest bar as a snack i.e. with a coffee in the afternoon sometimes. It's a nice treat when I feel like something sweet. I do sometimes use protein shakes as well, and have found the ASN Ladies Dream Protein is low fat/carbs. Also good in the shakes I make for breakfast. I find it overly sweet, but that's…

Might be a combination of a lot of things - how much water you're carrying, hormones etc. I found it better for me if I just weighed myself once a week - any more than that does my head in! I don't worry about any fluctuations in between. Also, congrats on your weight loss, huge job!

Love the idea of putting salsa on it. My go to is to make a tzatziki like thing with it - cut up some cucumber, garlic and mix it in with some lemon juice and a bit of mint if I have it. I have it on crackers. Yum.

The choc bars were great, thanks for posting :)

Thank you for this - it's exactly what I needed to read, when I needed to read it!
