I'm about the same height and started out at a very similar weight. Sounds like you know where your weaknesses are which is great! Now you can take some steps to help yourself avoid them. If you find yourself needing quick healthy meals for after work, consider getting a slow cooker/crock pot and pre cook meals so you can…

I would highly recommend getting a trainer even if it's just for a month or so to get your started. To get a good one, maybe try and find a gym near your that's more of a weights/powerlifting gym, (rather than a chain gym) as they're more likely to have trainers who are experienced in lifting. I never enjoyed gym/phyiscal…

You will never magically have energy. Go and work out anyway.

Great progress!

What does this mean?

Awesome attitude, I love it! :) I love having small feet - means I can shop on the bargain tables/kids section and get more shoes woo!

Another shorty. I'm in awe of your maintenance calories! Any calorie calculator I use to calculate my calories (height, weight, workout 5 days a week) give me about that as maintenance - but at 1800 my bf has been increasing. It's under 20% still, but not a trend I want to continue. Boo!

This is the best advice. Don't make yourself miserable, fit in the things you want.
-
YOU control what goes into your body and what you do with it. Not the other way around.

Good for you, that's a great plan. Id' also suggest setting yourself up so it's as easy as possible to succeed, then you don't need to rely on your willpower as much. Save it for when you need it. Put your exercise into your diary - then it's something you just do, no ifs or buts, so that battle is over. Pre-make your…

I drink almond milk, which is usually less cals than normal milk - I don't mind the taste, and with whey, doesn't make too much difference!

This sounds amazing! I'm trying it thank you!

Thank you for this post - I found it really helpful!

What's depressing about it? Genuinely interested. The fact that you don't get to eat as much volume of food as you expect? Or that you miss out on eating things that you like? If you can't eat as much in terms of volume, maybe try eating more wholefoods - if it's that you miss eating things you like, then eat them in…

No, not an athlete at all! :) I've been chubby my whole life, but started out a bit over a year ago with a PT at my gym because I wanted to lift. He also got me eating better - that's when I started tracking here on MFP. I've lost about 20kg (44lbs?) all up. I try to eat plenty of protein and vegetables, but I don't do low…

I'm 5"3 and about 10-14%. It's kinda happened slowly via moderate deficient and lifting. Happy to hang around this %.

Most people are way too interested in checking themselves out in the mirrors than looking at anyone else! :)

Whisky, lime and soda. Or just whisky and soda. ...or just whisky.

Maybe plan so you have enough calories left at night for a snack? I have a casein protein shake - it's chocolate flavoured so it's a bit like dessert as well :)

Mine is quite wide, so I can't get it resized :( The jeweller I went to suggested I get balls instead - which are just gold balls attached to the inside of the ring. They take up the slack, but also leave enough 'gap' to accomodate my finger if it swells. That's the plan anway, I pick it up tomorrow!

That is the BEST op - that is the most kick *kitten* motivation ever! I wanted to lift weights and be strong! Finding something I enjoy doing at the gym is really motivating and it changed how I eat, because I need to eat to make sure I have enough fuel to do what I want. Realising food is fuel (although it never will be…

Be kind to yourself. You're going through a very stressful time, and you only have a certain amount of emotional energy. Direct most of it where it needs to go at the moment - you sound like you've already made huge progress, so do you need to get rid of that last 5kg in a hurry? (Genuine question, no judgement either way)…

Haha That's how she gets her sales stats up!! :)

^^ Agree with all the good advice re machines/weights. OP I found alot of it is a confidence thing when you start - do whatever you feel comfortable with at first, small steps, then build up to freeweights if that's what you want to do. Or don't - there's no need to. Give both a go and see what you prefer, and what will…

Yes normal. For me I'm always sore the two days after and then it eases up. I try foam rolling to stretch out the tight muscles which seems to help. Go you! I haven't been weight training long but I love it too :)

I love my Brooks - and they're bright purple, which is the most important part :)

My advice would be to try and eat some kind of lean protein at every meal/snack to spread it out during the day. The ones I found hardest were breakfast and snacks - so I have oats with fruit and protein powder mixed in or eggs for brekkie and protein bars or eggs even for snacks.
-
Leave some calories over so you can have a snack after dinner. I usually have a protein shake with fruit/oats after dinner which fills me up until bed. There's no real need to avoid eating after dinner other than preference, as long as your calories will cover it.

When I was losing weight I weighed myself once a week, as the daily fluctuations threw me off. Now that I'm sorting out my eating to figure out maintenance, I weight every day as a data collection thing. The number don't upset me anymore, it's just good stuff to know. So weight daily if you like, but not if it upsets you,…

Simple - what do you want more: food or controlling your weight in a certain way for a certain purpose. Which is true of actresses or anyone else.
