It's easy to do when you're eating out or having a special-occasion meal. Log it as best you can and eat light (but not crazy light) tomorrow. It all comes out in the end.

Photoshop? ;)

I'm trying to lose 8-10 pounds. I'm at a healthy weight now and I look fine if you don't know how I looked 10 pounds ago...but my clothes don't fit as well and I need to stop this upward trend.

Do I get a prize or something? Since I don't like soda and rarely drink any, this one would be easy! (Now if you said no coffee or no wine, I'd run. But running burns calories, right?)

Nothing cheating about it if you have calories to spare. If you don't, at least it's more nutritious than the GIANT BROWNIE I'd probably shove into my mouth if I finished working out at the end of a very long day.

I'm more active on weekends as a rule so it seems to balance if I want a few drinks or a treat that wouldn't normally fit the plan. Unless I get nutty like I did over the holidays and don't get back on track the next day or get in the exercise-I'm paying for that now. FWIW, I can fit in a glass of wine with dinner OR a…

You're making this harder than it needs to be. Measure your cooking oil before putting in the pan. If it's one serving, that's how much oil you log. If it's several, divide by x. We strive for accuracy but really it's all a close approximation.

Exception would be for hiking and snowshoeing gear, where I'll pay the money for LL Bean or Columbia Sports. Comfort really matters when you're miles from anywhere.

I work from home, so workout clothes often become in front of the computer clothes and that means they end up with holes from the claws of my affectionate cats. So I go for cute but cheap: Target, Kohls or whatever ends up as overstock at Ocean State Job Lot. Gotta love $8 brand-name yoga pants!

I've been using "bone broth" in cooking for years because homemade stock/broth is economical and tastes better than the watery commercial stuff. It's good, nutrious food, but it's not magic.

As many other people have said, try to find something fun. The only time I actually enjoyed "going to the gym" was when my gym was attached to a dance studio and attracted a bunch of professional/would-be professional dancers who worked out before or after the high-level classes. (Eye candy! I could use the exercise bike…

All I can say is a cat on the lap helps. (I'm also one of the perpetually chilly--but I'm also a stubborn Yankee who doesn't like to turn on the heat.)

I'm 5'5" and a US 6 (sometimes 8, but usually 6) at 135. Okay, 137 at the moment, but still fitting in 6. :-)

I always end up choosing a good quality organic broth from the database because I've never been able to figure it out. I'm sure my bone broth has more protein, a lot less sodium, and possibly a few more calories, but (as long as I was tracking at all), the fake didn't seem to affect the end result: I lost weight and stayed…

I prefer the MFP method because while I get some exercise every day, some days it's a short walk or a half hour of yoga and others I'll spend 4 hours hiking or 2 hours in dance practice. Easier just to admit my schedule and lifestyle are erratic. That said, my maintenance calories are higher than what MFP suggests for me.

And unless you're diabetic, going over on sugar isn't going to hurt you. If you're also going over on calories, you won't lose weight as fast, but otherwise, it's not a big deal.

Have you looked into getting insurance through the Affordable Care Act? No point in not getting healthcare when it may be an option.

Sometimes I measure and write down everything (except the spices--they're negligible.) Sometimes I say screw it and just make the meal, call that one a best guess, and be extra careful on whatever else I eat that day.

You must eat very simple meals. Weighing everything that goes into each recipe, each item in a salad... it's not a huge amount of time, but more than 40 seconds for me. The real time sink is recording it all in MFP's not terribly effective system now that's no longer simple to find USDA data. It's not insane amounts of…

Also, since your weight gain is linked to a medical issue and medications, talk to your doctor(s) before you go all out, especially if you're going to start or increase exercising.

A broiler or fryer is a particular size of chicken--they're the smaller ones, and roasters are larger. I'd imagine broilers are the ones that get cut into parts most often. But if you're weighing the meat raw, I doubt it matters how big the chicken was in the first place.

AdBlock Plus. I didn't even realized MFP had started accepting ads until I saw it mentioned in a few threads.

Are you trying to lose two pounds a week? Given that you're not very heavy (I know because I started out at your stats!), you're better off trying to lose more slowly and getting to eat more. What's your goal? If you're only trying to lose 25-30 pounds, it's recommended to aim for .5 lbs a week; go for a pound a week if…

1) No, I don't feel that way. 2) Congrats on your success.

You sound like you're in a bad place and it has nothing to do with what you've been eating. Even your username suggests desperation. Please, talk to someone... it's not healthy to purge, cry uncontrollably and "want to die" because you got a little too friendly with some fettuccine.

Plan an evening snack into your day, but make sure it's something that isn't easy to overdo. (Ie, don't say "I'll just have a few chips..." because we all know that never work.) Measure out a portion that fits your calories and stick to it. Or try something like popcorn with spices instead of butter (or with just a small,…

If I ask myself what do I want more, the tasty food or the slim body, I know I'll say "tasty food" and eat everything in sight. So I allow myself a little bit of what I'm craving. Don't buy the whole chocolate pie; go somewhere you can order one piece of it (and split that with a friend if you can). And stay active!…
