Take a look at your fiber intake. May not be the perfect solution, but I started a fiber supplement a few weeks ago and it fixed everything right up.

It's really hard to say. It sounds like you're estimating a lot. I understand you're trying to estimate over what you're eating, but to figure out what is happening in your body, you really need accurate info. I'd get a food scale and try to be very accurate for a while to get some good data to use to make decisions.

Well said. When people want to lose weight, they don't "eat more". That's what got you heavy. You do the opposite to lose weight. Eat less. But, again, be sure you know how much you're eating. The numbers you post with no weight loss don't sound right. You're probably not logging everything exactly right. Very easy to do.…

How long are we talking about? You lost 5 lbs, so things are moving. If it's a week or so, just stick with what you're doing and see if it starts moving again. If you give it time and you're not losing weight, you're not at a calorie deficit. Make sure you're being as accurate as possible in your log, and be conservative…

Exactly. It's difficult for me to imagine anyone eating 900 calories a day for any period of time. And if you did, you'd be losing weight. For just about anyone, that would be an enormous calorie deficit. And the whole "eat more" thing is kinda bogus. If you're not losing weight, you're not eating at a deficit. Eating more…

Of course. Of course.

A horse is a horse.

Winner!

I understood that. The point being, even the way you just said it, you're saying something other than "they're the same".

Meh, don't sweat it so much. It's not the end of the world if you're a little "over" your goal. The goal is for whatever weekly weight loss you set it for. Over a little doesn't mean you won't lose weight, especially if it's just one day! It's a tool. I'm surprised how much I've learned just by logging everything I eat and…

The body fat machines are finicky. They did that at the gym I joined. Then I bought my own - and the instructions say you can't use it within two hours of eating or working out. And sure enough, if you do, it changes the result. By a decent amount, too - like 3% sometimes. If you think you need to drop a few pounds (which…

That's what it typically boils down to. Interestingly, a calories is food. Insert obligatory link to dictionary definition - as is the custom when having a nonsensical semantic argument. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/calorie "2 b : an amount of food having an energy-producing value of one large calorie" "Ah"…

(edit) Nah. See ya at Church!

A calorie is a unit of energy, among other things. Like so many words in the English language, it has more than one entry when you look it up in the dictionary.

This is right. If you want to lose weight, don't eat more. It just doesn't work like that.

I guess I don't understand why it would matter. I probably have friends who haven't logged in for a while. Since they don't post anything, doesn't bother me. I don't even know how to find out who's on there if they aren't posting. Only reason I'd take someone off my friends list is if they were doing something that…

Dang. That sucks. Nice knowing you. Probably the cancer.

I blame sugar. Or wheat. Or something. Where's Dr. Oz when you need him?

But that's what it said on the google.

Had to cut way back, but I still enjoy wine. Will enjoy wine tonight! I put it in my log earlier to see how many calories I'd have left for dinner. lol

I use Map My Run and really like it. Worked great until the GPS on my phone crapped out. Two weeks to new contract and new Droid Maxx.

If 63 calories of something makes you happy and helps you maintain your "diet" long term, that's a no brainer. 63 calories is very easy to work into a day. Good for you!
-
Awesome! Great job.

Seems like there are different answers for different people. I just eat less than I burn and try to hit my macros. If I'd only seen it a few minutes sooner...

Prescription stimulants can decrease your appetite. In my experience, it only lasts for a while - then you get kinda used to them and your appetite goes back to normal. My experience is with a medication that has been prescribed for weight loss, but that's not why I was taking it. It's possible at a different dose it would…

lol Okay. Not what I meant. But not going to derail your thread. Center-left. Had Arby's for lunch yesterday.

Everything contains chemicals. I don't think that's the same thing as "made of".

Training for my 5th half marathon right now!

I *added* dark chocolate to my diet when I got serious about losing weight. One snack size Hershey's Special Dark is 51 calories. I have one almost every day.

Or he's getting too much sugar. I'm kidding!
