  • I take Fluoxetine. I lost about 15 pounds in the first three weeks because of side effects, but have since leveled off. My doctor explained that SSRIs typically don't cause weight gain, but they do cause more feelings of happiness that make some people want to eat more. He may be full of it, but it made sense when he said…
  • My goal is to lose 100 pounds. I have lost 34 pounds since the end of January. A 100 pound loss will put me at the high end of the healthy BMI range.
  • You can add me. I have lost 25 pounds toward my 100 pound goal. I am a mom of two boys, ages two and nine. I usually do well with my eating, but I am very sedentary. I spend several hours per day in the car driving to different sites for work. Being in the car so much definitely cuts down on the time I can move my body.…
  • I wear my fitbit, and the twisting counts toward my step goal for the day.
  • I tend to get "addicted" to counting calories. I enjoy it like a hobby for a while, and enjoy seeing the weight come off. Once my interest wanes, the weight starts to come back. I have never been able to translate the hobby of counting calories in to an actual lifestyle change.
  • I am 5'8". Current weight is 198. Start weight was 245. My goal is 160. I currently wear size 16 in pants and XL shirts. I can't say for sure that 160 will be my final goal. I am hoping to get there, and then see how I feel. At this point, I just want to be at a healthy weight.
  • I joined a DietBet for motivation. I made my goal weight for the first month. I only won $2.28 more than I put in for the first round, but I didn't lose any money. I really like it!
  • I use DietBet as motivation, and the payout as my reward :)
  • I am also someone who struggles with portion control. I have started eating the "normal" serving first instead of heaping my plate with the amount I want. If I eat that amount, and want more 30 minutes later, I have more. I can honestly say that the food isn't as appealing to me after 30 minutes, and I feel satisfied. It…
  • I'm 34. I started with 80 to lose, and am over halfway to my goal. I will look for the group. Thanks!
  • People started mentioning my weight loss after about 30 pounds. Don't be discouraged. Some people will never mention it because they don't want to come across as rude. If you notice a difference, other people likely do too. :)
  • People have to want to change to be willing to put in the time and effort to lose weight. I have been guilty of complaining about my weight, but my head wasn't in the right place at that time to make the change. I think the best thing we can do is be encouraging to others. I know that no amount of pushing or shaming me…
  • Those definitely sound familiar. I would also add: 1. It's in my genes. 2. I come from a family of big people. 3. I like food too much to eat less.
  • My youngest son is a year old, and I am just now feeling like I have it together enough to work on my weight loss. Hang in there. I have found that my eating routine is boring, and I like it that way. I found frozen breakfast sandwiches that are 150 calories each, and take one minute to warm in the microwave. Some days, I…
  • Count me in! I want to lose 21 pounds by Christmas. That will put me at 196, and will move me out of the "obese" category and in to the "overweight" category on the BMI chart.
  • I consider it a "treat" instead of a "cheat." I try to stay within my calories every day. Sometimes I am a little over, and sometimes a little under. By doing it that way, I feel no guilt when I treat myself to a nice meal with friends or family. I think you have to allow yourself to eat things that don't necessarily fit…
  • Central Ohio here :)
  • I have some 0 calorie chocolate syrup. It is made by Walden Farms. I don't think it is delicious, but it is ok. It tastes really bitter on the spoon, but hardens on the ice cream like the magic she'll stuff. It is at least something a little different.
  • Egg whites Turkey bacon Oatmeal Yogurt Toast with fruit preserves I eat them in different combinations so I don't get tired of it. Sometimes I have one combination for breakfast and another for dinner just because I love breakfast food so much
  • I am also a picky eater who doesn't like many vegetables. I try to find new ways to make things that I like. Instead of eating pizza from Papa John's, I use sauce low fat mozzarella cheese, and turkey pepperoni on a tortilla or english muffin. I make tacos with baked Tostito's Scoops and ground turkey. You can still have…
