Thanks for pointing that out Daddybyday. You're probably right. My memory has been slightly amiss these last two months too, but from a concussion. I'm going off information my doctor told me. I remember I only needed to do it for 2 weeks. I lost over 12 lbs in two weeks on induction, which may be why my doctor told me…

Tofu pasta: First I rinse the noodles well under hot water to make them less slimy and stinky. Then I put them in a microwavable bowl. I usually just dump some jarred alfredo sauce on them, grate some fresh parmesan cheese, sprinkle on garlic powder, white pepper, parsley, add some chopped meat, mix together, and nuke…

When I ate that few of carbs, I didn't worry about exercising. I focused on ensuring I was eating right. There's an adjustment period for your body when switching to low carb. As I bumped up my carb intake I added in exercise and bumped it up along with my carb intake. If you're doing atkins, your induction period (20 net…

Oo! Add me too. I have 35 more lbs to lose, but I'd really like to lose 15 lbs by my birthday - June 12th.

I've heard the younger you are the more elastic you're skin will be and that it can take like 2 years for excess skin to become more normal. I think the key is to lose weight slowly, so your body has time to "absorb" excess skin. Your skin is an organ and needs proper hydration and nutrition like any other organ. You can…

Like Light Caesar Vinaigrette. I also enjoy using light miracle whip on a salad instead of salad dressing. It makes my salad taste like a sandwich.

Look at the nutrition facts for the product. You can subtract sugar alcohols and fiber for a net carb count. All other carbs count in your diet. This is why Dreamsfield noodles should be avoided even though they claim 5 net carbs. Shirataki noodles on the other hand, are very low carb as they're tofu noodles. However,…

Geez, I find myself responding to every geeky/nerd friend post, lol. Feel free to add me. I log and comment daily. I like to give encouragement. :-)

Funny, I just left a comment on another post about dieting with a busy life. Feel free to add me. I log and comment daily, despite being busy. (Yay, for mobile apps making it easier!) I try to answer personal messages as soon as I can.

Great job sticking with phase 1! Time to move on to Phase 2. I still lose 2 lbs a week in Phase 2 at 45 net carbs. Everyone's body is different, so you need to find what's right for you. Like Nancy mentioned, slowly increase your net carb value. A very accurate bathroom scale is helpful during this learning phase. 1-2…

I enjoyed the article, Eric. This reminds me of new bits of research on mummified human remains I recently read. While scientists have been searching for the "golden diet", they've surprisingly discovered that humans from thousands of years ago appear to have incidents of heart disease similar or only slightly less to…

I snacked on a lot of pickles, pickle wraps and bell pepper slices with dip during induction. Cold shrimp in a snack bag is an easy item to bring with too. I love shrimp plain, but Old Bay seasoning or garlic butter sauce for dipping works well if you like to add flavor. At least induction is only two weeks. Phase 2 is way…

I agree, at first, going low carb was harder than I expected, especially since I have a busy schedule. But, it did get easier as it was a lifestyle change for me. Stick with it. You'll see results. It was my doctor that suggested I should eat low carb. It's been the only way I can lose weight or maintain a healthy weight…

My Min Pins like to borrow into blankets until they have tucked themselves in all cozy. They also run around the house like maniacs after a bath. One thinks he's a pig and oinks all the time. He also makes other bizarre noises. The other needs shoulder pads from being clueless to often, "Wha?" The best game we play is…

I second what Eric says. Don't worry about that weight predictor. I find it's always wrong.

Thank you!!! Starting weight as of this morning is 171.8 lbs. Other measurements I take weekly are Fat: 33.2% and Muscle: 35.1%.

What do I need to do to join the challenge?

I grind my own beef for ground beef. I stock up when sirloin roasts come on sale for under $3 lb. Sirloin ground beef is like $5-6 lb around here and is way better than the regular ground beef found at grocery stores. I also like adding a cup of reconstituted TVP per a lb of ground beef, especially when I make tacos. Can't…

I'm really happy with my EatSmart scale. Bought it off Amazon.com. It can track up to 8 people, is accurate up to 0.2 lbs, and does body percentages.

Awesome, all great ideas! Keep'em comin' please. :-) @FloridaPanthe - A little of my fiber does come from the veggies that I do eat, but it obviously isn't as much as it should be. So, I include products in my diet that contain flax, tvp, high fiber, etc. I do a good job most days being at or close to my fiber goal, 25g.

Oh, I almost forgot. You can friend me to view my diary. And I second that there's not a one size fits all diet. Experiment and find what's right for you. :-)

1200 calories isn't enough. Are you eating them back at all from exercising? I stall or slowly lose weight at 1250 calories or less. I eat around 1400 calories and eat back most of what I exercise. My carbs are around 50 net carbs daily. Some days are less, some days are a little more. My protein is around 50% of my diet.…

Rough coat Kangal and Corgies. Both are loyal and good guard dogs. Both are playful, but know when to be lazy indoors. They are intelligent, but total goofballs. :-)

I ride dirt bike. Does that count? Working on skills and saving up for my first street bike, though. I do ride on the back of my boyfriends street bike. Love it when we do wheelies. Last year we rode street bike 12 months out of the year. It was probably a first and last time for that. We live in wicked cold North Dakota.…

Hmmm... Steamed green veggie dish? My family likes it when I bring this to gatherings. First, I steam fresh green beans, snow peas, and asparagus. I have a microwave veggie steamer to make it easier. Then I toss them all onto a big stoneware serving plate and mix the veggies around. Next I sprinkle on salt, fresh cracked…
