I think it's important to find what your own body can tolerate for carb intake. It takes time, diligence, and testing. It's worth the effort though. I've found as long as I'm under 60g I will lose weight, but if I have any grains that 60g needs to drop to 20g. Soooo, foods made from grains are now rare treats. Starchy…

I use the ready made Premier Protein shakes and Syntrax protein powder. Syntrax is readily available on Amazon. They have tons of flavors to choose from. Great for adding protein to recipes.

Lots of great tips to try here. I second a soak with Dr. Teals epsom salts. But, I've never needed to supplement while eating low carb either. I am wondering if you've considered your sleep contributing to your headaches? I can wake with a severe headache if I've slept wrong, have snored a little, or have a slightly…

Protein balls, shakes, STEAK, bulletproof coffee (decaf for me), bacon cups, LC tortilla wraps, lettuce wraps, and LC muffins (there's recipes without egg).

Ugh, I know, googling health information is the worst! It can make anyone have anxiety. I have to remind myself that those with good health outcomes don't talk about them online. You can try calling the therapy office again to request an earlier appointment. New patient bookings are always about 3 months out. The exception…

I find if I have an upset stomach it's best to just not eat at all and drink water or broth for 12 to 24 hours. Also pepto and rest. Your stomach is telling you it needs a break. Seems like if I just give my stomach a break, i can go back to eating normal the next day. A bland or BRAT diet prolongs the issue for me.…

Forgot to mention, I find evening the best time to take an SSRI. You may experience some drowsiness or fogginess for a time regardless of the time of day, but that goes away as your body gets use to it. No worries.

I've been on and off Celexa (SSRI) through my life. Twice for depression and currently for panic disorder. It does help, but the biggest helper is ensuring you're getting a restful sleep. After the second round of depression my doctor prescribed me Trazadone for a sleep aid. It does wonders. Found I could keep depression…

Sorry to hear your doctor is scaring you. I have NAFLD too. I suggest seeking out a second opinion. My doctor told me some people are just more genetically disposed to it than others. A person weighing over 300lbs may not have it, but a person weighing half that can. It's not fair, but it's life. She told me the best thing…

I'd suggest adding a low carb protein shake in daily. But, I'm in the boat that Saturated Fats aren't as bad for you as outdated research suggests. Remember the ratio of HDL to LDL is more important than the counts themselves. When ever I'm eating low carb and intaking more saturated fats my ratio jumps to the excellent…

People's nasty comments use to bug me when I first started low carb eating. I typically don't talk to others about my eating habits, but I'll oblige when asked about it. If I encounter a low carb nay-sayer, I talk about it in terms of focusing on eating nutritionally dense food first, avoiding processed foods, no foods…

You could lead one! I'd be in for it. I'm off the grid often during the summer with camping/fishing/hiking so I just wouldn't be a reliable leader during summer months. Feel free to copy or tweak this challenge. :-)

Have you tried any of the recipes yet? Some low carb cookbooks are so bland and don't utilize spices very well. I see you can buy his e-cookbooks on his website for super, SUPER cheap right now. So, I'm pretty curious to hear how his recipes are.

Yeah, it is a high drop out rate. I think it shows losing weight is hard work, but if you put in the extra effort to eat right for your body, be active, and stick with it, you'll get results. The final 6, who stuck with it for 12 weeks, lost a healthy amount of weight; averaging 13.68lbs each. I hope this helps motivate…

I believe it's recommended to move every hour if you have desk job. It can be as easy as going to the water cooler or taking a bathroom break. Our wellness consultants at work recommend doing "deskercises" or micro-burst workouts such as chair jogging or chair squats. There's videos on YouTube. Deskercises are suppose help…

Congrats Frob and Tattoo! Great work! Friday check-in for me as usually. My final lose this week was small bumping up my percentage to 10.73%. I lost exactly 19lbs according to my scale since the start of this challenge, from 177lbs to 158lbs. And lost 13cm or over 5 inches around my gut. 3 more pounds to reach my birthday…

If you feel like the hybridized wheat in today's breads isn't doing you any good, you could try switching to Einkorn bread. It's the wheat that use to be in everyone's diet. It's lower in gluten, higher in protein and is more nutritious than today's commercial wheat.
-
Didn't get a chance to post my check-in from last Friday. My new total is 10.39%, which puts me into the low end of my goal range for this challenge. Yay!

In case anyone else comes across this topic through search. If you are considering a low carb, high protein diet such as those listed above, please do so under medical supervision. Such diets can cause nutritional deficiencies and should be monitored by your doctor. Low carb, high protein diets are generally reserved for…

Short answer: There isn't just ONE optimal ratio. Long-ish answer: Diets aren't a one size fits all. Everyone is different as the human body is extremely complex. Some people have great success with high fat diets. Some people have great success with moderate fat and protein. Some don't need to eat low carb at all. You…

Yep! Sorry, yesterday got unusually busy for me. I'm in the processes of making the new post right now. :-)

Maintaining is hard! Great job Figaver! I'm checking-in a few days early, since my vacation starts today. Waiting to leave to go to the airport. I hope I can at least maintain my weight over vacation, but I'm still aiming to lose weight. My new percentage is 8.81%. That's 15.6lbs lost since starting this challenge. Yay!…

I'm not following this diet, but I try to eat about 50-60% fat and 30-40% protein, and under 50g of carbs. It isn't as high of fat percentage, which has worked well for others. But, I've found it to be the best ratio for my body for weight loss. Generally, a low-fat/low-carb diet is for those with extreme weight loss needs…
