Congratulations! You look so much healthier and more importantly HAPPIER in your later pictures, like a light is shining through your face. You really seem like a lovely person who deserves (and has earned) all your success so far! I hope the next 365 days yield many more great things for you!!!

Congratulations! You look amazing and your dedication as well as kindness and support of others also comes through in your post. I wish you the best.

You look wonderful! Congratulations! This is a great inspiration to me, and you look so happy in the later pictures. I look forward to hearing more about how you did it and what advice you have for the rest of us.

yes, I feel slow these days... even though my weight loss has been slow I have less energy and sometimes just go along a bit slower than I might if I wasn't dieting. I think it's my body's way of trying to conserve calories, putting me into hibernation mode.

After-dinner cravings used to be a big issue for me too. What helped me, maybe it can help you, was to pick a time of day when you want to stop eating, and then give yourself a little ritual like tea or a cup of milk or a glass of water, and then be done with food for the night. At first your body will fight you and it…

Hi! I have added you.

Ok, you are inspiring me... next fast day I'm going to do a puree
-
Oh, and my fast day foods tend to include tons of veggies, prepared lots of different ways (fresh, cooked, pickled, pureed) for variety, as well as salty broths (instant miso but really any broth will do) and often an egg for protein. I try to avoid any sweets or carbs because I feel that they make me hungrier afterwards.

I love almonds and used to eat tons of them, but they are one of the things I pulled way back on when I started trying to lose weight because they are so caloric! Good to know that it's actually ok to enjoy them once in a while

I love trendweight, I feel like I mention it all the time but it really helped me maintain some sanity about short term ups and downs in my weight.

@nanananananafatwoman, I love your user name!

First fast of 2015 for me too! It went well and I didn't feel too hungry. @chiccam, congrats on yesterday's loss and hope the 4:3 goes well. @uptightoutofsight, I hope the hunger pangs pass soon! Holidays were great, now let's all get back to work :-)

Chill out, it was just a way of saying that I like potatoes but they get some bad press, so I'm happy to see evidence that they might have some health benefits, too. People normally do animal studies with stuff like this and then if it looks promising, they think about how the research might be applied to humans. It may or…

Uh, that's only true if you believe that the ONLY point of food is weight loss. I can maintain my weight on 2,000 calories of chocolate a day or on 2,000 calories of fresh fruits and veggies... but in the first case I am going to end up severely micronutrient deficient and in the second I am going to be doing well. People…

Add me! I have been around 3 months already but many of my first friends have disappeared now. I'm a good motivator, I promise!

I am up about 2 lbs. It makes me feel better to know that I am not the only one! I am planning a fast day for Sunday, although I usually try to avoid the weekends, to see if I can get weight loss kick-started again.
-
I'm 5'7, 167 lbs. Currently at waist=30 in, hips=44 in. I am extremely pear shaped... would gladly trade an inch or two more on waist for less on hips! I kind of look like 2 different women glued together at the waist.

To me it sounds like what is lacking might be in the broth, it sounds rather bland. Instead of sauteing the ginger first, try boiling the broth with a chunk of peeled ginger that you can pull out before you serve. Definitely add some soy sauce to the broth and then play with adding other things like miso paste, chili paste…

What I found interesting about this... 1 -One of the other things they found was that they said that the fasting mice (eating 9 hrs / fasting 15) were actually eating just as much in their 9 hour of food intake as the mice who were eating whatever they wanted for 24 hours. The difference was in how the body processed the…

Wonderful! I am so glad you are ok!

Thank you, I really like this group so far! The atmosphere seems more supportive and rationale than MFP-at-large too.
-
Hi! I have been doing it about 2 months now. There is a group here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/100058-5-2-fasting People on MFP seem to get into lots of debates about 2:5 but personally I like it.

Ok, but I'm not doing HIIT, so why would FitBit estimate my calories as if I were? Anyway this isn't a complaint about FitBit at all - it's been great for me and it definitely helps me lose weight! I love it. Whether or not it estimates exercise calories perfectly for every single person doesn't matter, it's just there to…
-
Yes, but I am talking about jogging for a shortish time versus leisurely walking for more than twice as long! If I put those two activities into MFP, it estimates almost exactly the same amount of calories burned for both. Even if go by total mileage rather than total steps, FitiBit seems to give way more calories on days…

I did it! And this morning the scale read a full pound lower than I have ever seen before. I put this mostly down to not eating for ~18 hours before getting on the scale but it was still very good motivation to keep going and to try to do that Friday fast too, if I can!
-
I'm not too sure how FitBit calculates calories but it definitely gives me different estimates at times for the same number of steps. For example 5k steps worth of jogging seems to get logged as many more calories burned than 5k steps worth of walking. I am a little suspicious of FitBit's system for estimating calories…

Congratulations! I know this sounds strange since I don't know you, but I feel happy and proud for you. What an amazing thing to have done and it gives me hope that others in my life who are suffering from health problems related to their weights can also accomplish it. Well done and I wish the very best for you.

Thank you jk, you are the best :-)

Happy hump day everyone! This week I am doing 3:4 on MWF to make up for last week when I only fasted once. My first time trying a 3:4, and I was so hungry at lunch today that I ate ALL my calories in one sitting. What was I thinking? Now it's 7pm and I am drinking rooibos tea by the gallon, I think I can hang on until…

I have a One, I love it! I do my 10k minimum religiously and I am convinced that is about twice the walking I would be doing without it. I got one for my parents too and my father lost 2 belt notchs in about 4 months as a result, no dieting! I like that we can do it together even though we aren't usually in the same place.
