I started an exercise program about six months before starting my diet. I had been in and out of physical therapy for back problems, and after one series I met a trainer at the PT facility who specialized in taking people "of a certain age" from post-PT to a higher level of fitness. I was 255 lbs at the time. The sessions…

This is not only the best turkey meatloaf I've ever had, it's the tastiest meatloaf of ANY kind I've ever had. Sometimes I use quinoa prepared as called for by the recipe, sometimes I use a cup or so of leftover Near East Quinoa Brown Rice blend, sometimes I use prepared couscous. I use two eggs instead of one as a binder,…

In shedding weight I've also shed medications. At 255 lbs I was on a heart medication, two blood pressure pills, and a statin for cholesterol. In the process of getting to 175 lbs I've dropped the heart medication, one of the BP pills, and the statin; and just yesterday my doc cut the dose of the remaining blood pressure…

Had breakfast this morning at the coffee shop near work, where I haven't been since starting my diet. I sat in one of their notorious one-person mini-booths -- and I fit, with room to spare!

My energy level has skyrocketed recently -- I can't seem to tire myself out!

In my case, sleep apnea was a direct result of my excess weight -- in fact, it was the apnea diagnosis, and the idea of being tied to a cpap machine for the rest of my life, that convinced me I had to lose the weight. I got the apnea diagnosis on a Wednesday afternoon, and began my diet on Thursday morning. I started at…

ALL of this!

At 6' I'm at 175, down 80 lbs from a high of 255 after two years of diet/exercise. My original goal was to drop 20 lbs, but having hit that, there didn't seem any reason not to keep going. So I set a series of short-term reachable goals--200 lbs, 180 lbs, etc.--with the idea that if I stuck there, I would still have…

I go through a tub or two of Fage 2% every week -- I'm totally addicted. For dinner I often mix it half and half with a microwaved package of chopped spinach plus seasonings for a quick and yummy "creamed spinach" side, or add it to new potatoes and/or cauliflower as a sub for butter in a tasty mash. But whatever else I…

OH yeah -- breakfast = low carb pita bread with two TBSP of peanut butter, and coffee; lunch = "Kale Caesar" salad with double turkey at Fresh & Co here in NYC. I switch it up at dinner, but breakfast and lunch are almost always the same. I keep waiting to get tired of these menus, but 22 months in and 80 lbs down and it…

I've lost 80 lbs over 18 months, and while I bet my trainer would downplay his role in my weight loss, I think he was a major factor. I started seeing him fresh out of PT for a back injury, and as I got more into the exercise routine, he'd keep telling me -- always in a lowkey, professional, non-hectoring way -- "we could…

Health issues did it for me, too. At 255 lbs the extra weight was constantly aggravating a back injury, and I was pre-diabetic. But it was the diagnosis of severe sleep apnea that made me get off my butt -- I have a horror of those cpap machines, so I made a deal with my doctor: give me six months to lose some weight, and…

Baby carrots -- I know, sounds pitiful and un-snack-like, but a handful of carrots keeps my stomach from grumbling, and I like the crunch and sweetness.

ALL. OF. THIS.

I felt the same when I hit my goal weight. I've been around the weightloss-does-not-equal-perfect-happiness block before, and this time I'm following the advice of these other posters: setting new fitness goals, focusing on what my new body can do instead of how it looks, and rejoicing in BIG health improvements.

I get variations on the "Don't lose any more weight" crack all the time. It will make me furious if I let it; but usually I just count to ten, and don't engage. After all, *I* sometimes have trouble associating the 175-lb. guy I see in the mirror with the 255-lb. guy I was 2 years ago, and I guess other people find it…

255 lbs in August 2013, 180 lbs in February 2015.

I started at 6 ft, 255 lbs; my initial goal was to lose 20 lbs -- then 30, then 60, then 75. I reached my GOAL goal weight of 180 lbs just a few weeks ago. Now, on to the next goal: body recomposition!

Mussels steamed in white wine with garlic and shallots, over linguine. (I'm on maintenance!)

I like my trainer's approach. I only see him once a week, but he regularly asks me what I'm doing in my home workouts. He is always willing to help me fine-tune that part of my exercise routine, and often adjusts our session to focus on exercises I DON'T do at home.

I've been using a trainer for about 18 months, and I'm a convert. He works at the PT facility where I was being treated for back problems, and he took me over from the therapists -- in addition to pushing my fitness level from zero to, well, better -- no more back problems! -- he convinced me to lose weight. It was…

I'm a Jif fan. The difference in calories (my main concern) between processed and natural is miniscule, and I like my PB smooth and creamy. I have 2 tbsp on whole wheat pita 3-4 times a week for breakfast -- I love it, and it keeps me going all morning until lunch.

^THIS. It's been 20 years since I was of a size to appreciate clothes, but MAN am I making up for lost time!

I glaze mine with Tamari and olive oil, then add garlic powder, and a pinch of herbes de Provence. I often add a cauliflower mash as a side dish -- cauliflower steamed until soft, then mashed with Greek yogurt and 4 tbsps or so of grated parmesan. Yummy.

I was shopping for dress shirts today. The saleslady looked at me consideringly and said, "Slim fit." I could have kissed her!

I maintained at 191 lbs, despite some epic calories spikes. I was able to get in a fair amount of exercise, which was fortunate, since on most days I ate back every single one of those calories. Not bad. But I had hoped to have dropped another couple of pounds by now -- I have to shop for some serious work clothes this…

My primary GERD symptom was shortness of breath, particularly at night. It started all of a sudden in August 2008, and it took forever to identify the cause. None of the medications I tried seemed to help. I hoped that losing weight would make a difference, and it did, eventually, but only recently, when I got to 190 lbs…

1800, which is 300 over budget. I've been on track for most of these holidays, though, so I'm not stressing.
