longest run since I got injured a year ago ... 8 today and feeling great! Oh and my baseline on the TM is officially 6.0 now. Time to shoot for 6.2. :)

Under family but above absolutely everything else ... without my run, I can't "adult" with grace, kindness, and effectiveness
-
Surveying the fridge ... "I don't want any of that!" "I just want to .... sing ..." LOL ... this actually happened yesterday. Monty Python follows me around - a reference a day, I swear. It's like the song that you can't get out of your head.

(1) therapy (running), (2) personal challenge, (3) source of pride that no one else needs to understand for it to be meaningful, (4) a welcome break from an unfocused brain (running, specifically) Notice that it has nothing to do (as do most of the answers) with wearing smaller clothes or seeing a smaller number on the…

The way you can tell a "runner" has nothing to do with body type/size/muscles, imho ... it is 100% attitude and focused determination. You are a runner *and* you look like a runner! Rock on!
-
Despite "Muscle Man" (an acquaintance at the gym) on the treadmill to my left, I kept my breathing pretty steady and didn't even fall off once! ;)
-
rest day today - I'm much closer to being on track with my goal than before - quickie strength day, as in, late-for-work-but-sneak-it-in-anyway quickie strength day. Roar! :) Have a great day, friends.

I might have mentioned before, I was passed by a giant banana in the Monument Avenue 10K (Richmond) a few years ago. Lovely.

Today's running observations ... so, today was my first long outside run in a while. Somehow my out-and-back run was uphill both ways. Lots of people were out and most of them smiley. I just don't get the ones who can't manage to smile when they approach you on a bike path on a gorgeous, sunny afternoon. Anyhoo ... :)
-
I went back out and ran a few more this evening.
-
@BZAH10 ... excellent point! It's also just good for boys to be dissuaded from an expectation that women are hyper-focused on the scale/weight/non-health related body image issues.
-
you rock. best thing I've heard all day.
-
funny you should say that ... this was my FB post about it this morning: Me: [at the pool league after rushing through a 2-mi fun run and hurrying to look less sweaty] Whew! It's hot in here. Lady I was playing against: [some drawn-out assumption that I'm having hot flashes] Me: [blank stare] Assuming *that* of a woman in…

omg, we could talk for hours about pathologies ... I am amazed that all three of mine appear to be fairly well-balanced thus far ...
-
wow yes. xo
-
I would like to add that the same woman assumed I was having hot flashes because I said I was feeling hot (had just finished running before getting to the pool hall), lol ... we didn't exactly get off on the right foot. ;) I mean ... I'm only in my late 20s ... plus a year or 20.

1.5 last night and 4 this morning - So, I used an orthotic on the right side only - and just noticed as I was lining my shoes up after the run today that the colors of the left insole and the right orthotic actually match the outside of my running shoes. It's the little things that make me smile. Have a great day, y'all!

Beth, I'm sorry you feel that way. Big hugs from Virginia. https://youtu.be/XpaOjMXyJGk

Could be psychological, too. If you think you're cheating yourself, you'll remain unsatisfied. I eat all day long, about once an hour - if I start to feel the slightest bit hungry, I eat ... bored? I eat. I am not in the business of being miserable, or this will never be sustainable for me. To succeed with this strategy,…

http://www.richmondmarathon.com/ Le'ssss do it ... ba da da da dum dum dum shhhhh bu dum ... (name that song!) Ohhhh ... sorry - we're talking RNR - yes, okay. le'sssss do that instead. Sorry for my confusion. I'm still very close and could help with logistics of the VB race.
-
YAY - I know Richmond well and can help with logistics, if needed! But ... the Richmond Half is actually November 12. (I knew it was fall.) Does that date for for you, @Elise4270 ... which race were you seeing in early September?
-
So is the sole difference the amount of calories you are consuming? Do you risk injury during this time?

+1

asking the bartender nonchalantly if there's a pool table in the back somewhere
-
@MNLittleFinn I used to get the Barney songs stuck during my runs ... ;)
-
I think you are right. :)
-
2.25 today - even walked a little, trying to be good. I bought new Asics. My left foot is very happy with them. My right foot is an *kitten* and is never happy. Can I wear an orthotic in one shoe? I would think the heights would be off, even if I remove the insole.
-
@kristinegift and @Elise4270 ... Yes, probably humid, but from what I understand, you get a steady breeze off the water while you're on the boardwalk (I've heard that's good and bad) - the race is flat. I've always wanted to run that one. There's also the Shamrock Half in the Outer Banks (North Carolina). Can't believe…

@Elise4270 I'm glad to hear your husband is in recovery. It's a long road. xo I'd love to run a HM with some of you some time - not *with* you (pant, gasp, pant), but meet up and say hello, etc. ... if any of you runs in Virginia - particularly Richmond, please keep me in mind. :)
