Ah, the University of MFP! People who 'know what they are talking about.' Yep, they've done the research and know the truth. Scientists--all of them--reiterating the same old theories, the same old 'math.' Take your own advice and keep an open mind!

I had a cat that would follow me on a walk without a leash. To address the original question, yes, I do log dog walking cals using my hrm because we usually go a couple of miles or so. (Wiener dog). I believe it is somewhere in MFP, though. Search walking dog in exercise.

The interesting thing about his 'experiment' was that his cholesterol levels went down also. I don't know what he ate before he went on the 'McDonalds…

The New Rules of Weightlifting is a great book. Speaking for myself, I have been skinny fat before. I wasn't that way for very long, because my problem is food--I simply eat too much. When I was dieting and lost a lot of weight, I was similar to you--skinny fat. I did strength training a couple of times a week and cardio…

First, take a deep breath and try to relax! You may have fallen into the popular thinking that if you quit smoking you will gain weight. It isn't an absolute. You didn't say how you gained the weight. Eating more? Not doing anything to burn off the extra calories, or did it just happen when you quit smoking? When I quit…
