Way to go!

Nobody forced you to eat excessively. Where is the accountability?

Never mind all that, we already have solar power capabilities that are super inexpensive and super underutilized! I'm always for progress in knowledge, though...

...not giving in to the binge. I have a 2-year-old and 5-month-old. Most days (like today) I am left to take care of the children by myself. It has been a particularly stressful day full of screaming (from both the kids and, I'm not proud to say, myself). I've been struggling with postpartum depression, and while I've…

Congrats on the BQ! Did you get a spot in the race? I read that there were more qualifiers than available positions. Qualifying for Boston is definitely on my bucket list. I'm not allowed to run right now (weak pelvic floor and diastasis recti from back-to-back pregnancies) and it's kiiiiiiiilling me! I go for daily walks…

5'6" 29 years old SW 175 CW 147 GW 130 I've never been below 145 (since I've hit puberty), so I'm super stoked that I'm approaching that number and can't wait to see how I look and feel once I'm close to my goal weight!

So not true about dark versus light beer. Alcohol percentage is what leads to high calorie counts. Lower alcohol percent equals lower calories. Many dark beers are 6%+ and therefore more calorie dense. Likewise with hoppy beers. Anyway, OP, there's this: http://www.menshealth.com/jimmy-bartender/low-cal-beers-dont-suck

OP is incorrect, but I think this is the study s/he was referencing: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/828978

OP--You can do this! There are many wonderful people here, unlike the above poster, and they would love to help you on your journey! Out of curiosity, do you have access to counseling? It can be a tremendous resource, not just with identifying what has led you down this path, but also by empowering you to forge a new path.…

It's the weight of your waste. If you have a bowel movement before weighing yourself, you'll notice the weight gain magically disappears.

I also wanted to echo the sentiments that La Leche League is an indispensable resource!

I am also breastfeeding and I eat 2,000 calories a day. I have been losing 1-2 pounds per week with no ill effects on my supply. While you'll lose weight and still make enough milk consuming as little as you do (assuming you're taking in enough water), it is not beneficial to your health. I would suggest increasing your…

I love that Dr. Steve Brule uses MFP!

I am 3 months postpartum after having 2 babies 20 months apart. I have a rather large diastasis and definitely noticed my belly isn!t getting any better after 9 weeks of exercise and calorie counting. I'm pretty sold by all the testimonies, but something about the website seems super gimmicky, and I'm not so well off that…

Holy cow! Consuming that much sugar in a day most certainly is unhealthy, and can lead to a host of medical conditions including type 2 diabetes! http://www.ucsusa.org/news/press_release/280-public-health-fda-added-sugar-label-0427.html

Question is only what?

Thank you! I would love to meet with a dietician but do not have the insurance to cover it. Perhaps I'll inquire about rates and see if I can afford some out-of-pocket visits. As for my macros, I feel like I've been doing really well, particularly with protein. I always get at least 100 grams per day, often more. I am very…

Yeah, the breastfeeding is why my calorie goal is not lower than 2000. I figured that counts as my "calorie cut" and that I'm burning an additional 300-500 calories a day. If I weren't breastfeeding I would certainly aim for a greater deficit.
-
My stats are in the original post. Diary doesn't need to be public, I'm always at or below my daily goal of 2000 calories.

Thanks for the links, all! Okay, so if I am to continue weight lifting (and strengthening the muscles I have while not necessarily gaining new muscle), what on earth should my calorie goal be to lose the weight I need to lose?
-
You say my muscles are hanging on to glycogen, others say water. Which is it? Any sources behind the physiology?
-
Gaining strength DOES mean muscle was gained. If I'm gaining strength, it means I've grown more muscle fibers.
-
If I'm already overweight and gaining muscle, wouldn't I lose weight because of the resting caloric burn of the muscle? I understand not losing weight while gaining muscle if I'm at/close to where I need to be weight-wise, but I'm still 30-35 pounds from that point. Why would weight lifting cause water retention? I…

During such extreme caloric restriction, chances are that you are not consuming all of the essential amino acids (necessary for protein synthesis) required by your body to carry out its basic functions for living (breathing, brain function, etc). When you are not consuming an adequate amount of complete proteins, the body…
