  • Okay so then it would add about 400-500 calories a day. So maintain on 3000, lose 0.5kg on 2500 and lose 1kg on 2000. Roughly. That's at 30 years old. If you're younger it will be slightly higher. Something is still off, however. Maybe I'm inputting your data wrong, go to this website and enter all your stats and see what…
  • Are you sure you put all of your information into MFP correctly? When I looked, my numbers for your height and weight with no exercise were lower. I can't see how old you are because I'm on my phone, so I did 30, and it said roughly 2500 to maintain your current weight, 2000 to lose 0.5kg a week and 1500 to lose 1kg a…
  • Yeah, I know what you mean, there is definitely a sense of accomplishment. Just make sure you rest for as long as possible. And if it hurts when you run again, rest some more. You don't want to make it so bad that you actually do get stress fractures. I find that if I squat, it hurts my shins badly. So I don't run until I…
  • I have bad shin splints too, to the point where I can't walk after I run. I stopped running for two weeks, then I ran once, and there was no pain, so I went again 2 days later and made it SO much worse. So I took off another two weeks, and I stopped running outside. Now I run once (maybe twice) a week on the treadmill at…
  • When I do it, I just estimate my cuts, so if it's 350g of steak I cut the first one, hoping for around 115g, then I weigh it and cut the remaining in half to get 3 roughly 115g pieces. Sometimes I accidentally get like 140g, 100g and 110g, so I eat the bigger piece if I'm having a lower calorie day. I've gotten really good…
  • Does your scale do kilograms and pounds? My Canadian one does. You could switch it and it will be a lot easier, a lot more accurate and more straight forward to log as it's always in 10ths. Plus you'll lose like 80lbs overnight
  • Im sure some of them aren't, but all of the ones I know or have ever met definitely are. If you got home and your bread was squashed, you'd think "Damn, that cashier didn't pack this very well," you'd never assume we did it on purpose, you wouldn't complain, no punishment for us, but tiny bread for you for the next few…
  • I was a cashier for 4 years and if you said that to me (or most of my coworkers) you would be served so slowly, just to waste your time even more. And we'd probably squash your bread or bananas or something. After spending hours serving hundreds of customers that don't even acknowledge you, sometimes you just need a quick…
  • Yeah, I've never had any messages like that and assumed it was because I was in Australia, but even now that I'm in Toronto I still don't get any.
  • So, the two eggs that you weighed end up being about 0.7 calories per gram, meaning the large egg you normally use would need to be 100g, probably not likely. Biggest chicken egg I've ever seen is like, what, 75g? Let me check, okay, when I added 121g to my diary using the USDA entry, I got 173 calories. You must have just…
  • Was just about to say this. I get hungry the week I'm supposed to ovulate, despite my birth control preventing that. But it happens every month.
  • I'm in downtown Toronto and would love some friends who I can chat with!! Add me :)
  • Where did you get cherries this time of year? I normally count down to October/November when Woolies starts selling them again!
  • I'm the same height as you, 22, and I was about 235 when I started, I'm down to 213 in about 12 weeks. So that's like 1.5lbs per week, not consistently sometimes more sometimes less. I eat between 1500-1700 a day depending on how active I am. But I know that my calorie count is accurate, at least within 100 calories. If…
  • I would rather eat one tiny piece of good quality Australian bacon than a kilo of turkey bacon, or American bacon. Since I moved to Canada I miss good bacon so much. Appreciate the good stuff. Someone send me some! I'm sure it'll handle the shipping processes.
  • If you find out you do have an anxiety disorder, you don't have to go on medication, I understand you're apprehension towards it. There are a ton of other alternatives for mental health issues, especially anxiety disorder, like meditation, cognitive behavioural therapy, or exposure therapy (this probably isn't relevant to…
  • OP, you should really go see your doctor, from what you've said, I don't think your anxiety is related to low potassium, but rather an anxiety disorder. Especially if you just made a massive move, they can commonly cause anxiety. Plus, the doctor can give you a blood test to see if you actually are low on potassium, so…
  • Soup is really good for freezing, I made spinach and ricotta pasta rolls, they freeze well (I reheat them in the microwave with a container over them to steam them so they're all soft), things like curries, and stirfry meals are also really good to freeze, you can either freeze them with rice, or without. Or casseroles.…
  • I just looked, I'm on roughly a 700 calorie deficit (my TDEE changes a lot because of my lifestyle, sometimes sedentary, sometimes lightly, so I don't know the exact deficit). In the past 10 weeks my average weight loss has been 1.3lbs per week which is almost exactly on track with a 700 calorie daily deficit. So I'll…
  • The OP said 2.5kg, so that's about 5-6lbs.
  • If you click on someone's username (or photo) it will take you to their profile and there will be a big green button that says "Add as friend", or on the mobile app a little blue person icon to add someone. Alternatively, you can go here (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/user/search) and find other people.
  • Are you talking about a stitch?
  • I got 95 wpm, did alright, I'd be faster on my desktop computer though.
  • This happens to me too, on the days I'm not going anywhere I avoid breakfast until noon and weigh then, they are normally my new low weight days, I sometimes lose 1lb in water weight between 7am and noon. Plus I feel bloated when I wake up, I try to have a coffee to clear my bloating, it helps.
  • This setting only shows up sometimes, it never use to be there for me, then one day it suddenly was, so if you can't find it, your steps might not be syncing properly. Also, OP, you could be overestimating almost everything. Measuring cups are unreliable. I'm a grad student too, so I get where you're coming from, maybe…
  • You look great!!!! Congratulations! How tall are you? I started at about 237 too, and I'm hoping to get to around 150! I'm 5"7.
  • Just make sure you're hydrated and as long as you aren't getting dizzy or fainting or anything, I think you're fine. You might have just ran a day or two too early. Hopefully it's gone! Good luck!!!
  • I'll try to avoid being gross here, but, if you were just getting off a cold, you might of still had a lot of mucus in your nose/throat, and that set off your gag reflex as it started running towards your stomach. I find that running really shifts any mucus I have in my nose no matter my health, so this might have been it.…
  • If you're using your iPhone to track your steps, you can sync that with MFP, in 'more' then go into steps and pick iPhone. It might backlog what you already did, if not start tracking from now. If it doesn't backlog, I wouldn't track it, just take it as a bonus!
  • Bumping this so more people can see it. I always cringe when someone uses a HRM for weight training or circuits.
