  • I lift lots of things (mostly hay bales and heavy pitchforks) and eat just about everything (especially today). My diary is open.
  • No alarm -- up by 4am (most) everyday (can sleep till 4:30 on Sundays). Stuck on the elliptical right now (winter) - my 45 mins need to be done by 6:15 or so (7 on Sundays). Anxiously waiting for clear roads so I can resuming racewalking/running - workouts become longer then but...............wakeup time stays about the…
  • I'm w/the others.......... You need to eat more. I'm a (almost) 50 year old, 5'6", 140 lb woman and I average at least 2300 cals a day to maintain.
  • I set my burn for 2150 (I need about 3 hrs of moderate activity to hit that number) but am always above that. I've been at goal for almost 3 years so I try to maintain a deficit of 150-250 (mostly cuz I'm not as diligent about tracking).
  • I have looked around because I really hate the tan line during the summer. I've tried the Fitbit. It was reasonably accurate (10% less than BMF) during the summer when my activity was more step based but showed at least 30% less than BMF during the winter (when my activity isn't as step based). I would have been okay…
  • What a perfect post!!! I've been thinking about switching to almond milk lately and just this morning was "googling" info. My main reason for wanting to switch is for calorie reasons. Milk is my drink of choice (and will still be using it to make my own yogurt - which I eat alot of) but...........since switching over to…
  • What did you BMF say? Usually mine says I burned less than my HRM said. Which is usually alot less than what the piece of equipment said (even though I push it {average HR 80% of max or higher) during most workouts). I still use my HRM (and input it's data into the exercise category - have negative adjustments enabled for…
  • I don't like the tan line it leaves so last year once the temps got to short sleeve weather, I wore it tucked in my bra band (right below my left armpit). It read maybe 10% lower than it did wearing it on my arm which was accurate enough for me. Even w/long sleeve weather I wear it in the same spot when going out (hate the…
  • I've used the Fitbit (zip) in the past and found it reasonably accurate (was slightly low but that isn't a bad thing) for me during the summer when my activity is more step based. However it was very inaccurate (30% or more lower) during the winter when my activity isn't as step based but more physically demanding, so I…
  • Pretty much the same for me. Can't eat much before a run but need a little something..
  • Congrats and you look amazing!!! I did the same thing (maybe not for cookies but for food in general). Took me 6 1/2 months to lose my last 25 pounds (first 25 came off relatively quickly) cuz I uppped my calories.. I wouldn't change doing it that way for anything -- (almost) 3 years later and I'm actually below my…
  • I've had mine for 3 years now (just can't give the thing up) and find it VERY accurate for calorie burn.. When I was losing (been at maintenance for almost 3 years now but usually have some vacation/holiday lbs to lose couple times/year), my lbs lost almost exactly worked out to my calorie deficit (3500 deficit = 1lb).…
  • We didn't get fat from birthday parties (or holiday dinner, etc) - just gotta make sure everyday (or alot of days) aren't special days! As long as you keep your attitude (back on track) the worst thing that can happen is it'll slow your weight loss... And really is a couple of days extra to hit your goal really going to…
  • Very pretty girl!!!! Definitely is a difference and like the above person said.............you are looking even younger.. Congrats on your weight loss!!!
  • The whole net calories thing w/MFP confuses the heck out of me so................I just set my "goal" as maintain weight. Actually I set it the same way in BMF (mostly cuz I've been at goal for almost 3 years). For those times when I need to lose a few pounds (like right now after the holidays) I just subtract the deficit…
  • (for most people) The BMF is more accurate for your calorie burn - it knows what you did/do for the day. MFP only knows what you tell it (ie activity level and any added exercise). I have negative adjustments enabled also but most days MFP underestimates my calories burned.
  • This April I will hit 3 years at goal (actually I've been less than goal the whole time). I still weigh and log my food pretty much daily - use guesstimates for foods I don't prepare. I allow myself a break from logging during vacations, holiday dinners, and a select few other days.. Coincidentally I always have a few…
  • I "only" just walked (usually 1 1/2 miles most days of the week) until I hit my goal weight (50 lbs lost)... You don't have to "kill yourself" exercising to hit your goal weight.
  • I do use a scale and weigh pretty much all my food (that isn't already in serving sizes - like the banana). I gotta admit that I didn't understand the person who said to up my fiber -- my 7 day average is 26 grams/day and my 14 day average is 33 grams/day. I can kinda understand the lowering my carb thing. Had a hard time…
  • I thought it was the Garmins that linked up to BMF. Either way..............linking your HRM to the BMF has absolutely no effect on the calorie calculation. They show different calories burned cuz they use different information (HRM just uses heart rate, BMF uses movement, perspiration, and one other - don't remember what…
  • I wear a HRM and plug that info into MFP but only cuz I use the HRM info as a gauge to how hard I worked out. I suppose if you had the Link then you'd know easily what you burned during the workout but I just have the Advantage (or whatever the plain jane one is called). If you have BMF and MFP linked then the BMF…
  • Whatever morning means to you is fine by me. The point I was trying to make was that you might see negative adjustments. I hate them and delete them if I do a morning sync cuz I hate seeing them reflected on the calories I "can" eat. The BMF adjustment changes w/each sync if you sync multiple times during the day. I don't…
  • It's in the Diary Settings (My Home - Settings - Diary Settings). Depending on what you have your activity level set at (ie if it's one of the lower levels -sedentary or lightly active) you probably will never have a negative adjustment. I have my activity level set higher (somewhere in between active and very active is…
  • I think as long as you log the same way consistently it should all work out. I'm assuming you have your MFP and BMF accounts linked. Do you have negative adjustments enabled?
