  • Great sounding plan.....definitely well thought out for your situation/self!!! YOU GOT THIS!!!
  • I weigh pretty much daily. My watch it weight is multiple days at 145 or above (142 is where scale should be).
  • Old set point (ie before I started exercising and eating nutritiously) was 196-206. New (over 4 years now) set point is 142 (I'd prefer 138 but my body doesn't agree - ie it's a struggle). 145 is my "watch it" weight - usually only see that after vacations (ie don't exercise and eat what I want).
  • For me, I've found that hunger has little to do w/the quantity of food I consumed but more to do w/quality of food. If I eat nutritious foods, then I'm not hungry after eating. Eat the less (or in most cases of processed foods - little) nutritious foods and I can eat constantly.
  • I have mine set to sedentary (reality is active in summer - very active in winter) and let the Fitbit do the calorie adjustments. If you just want to know what level for your own info - maybe pick lightly active and see what kind of daily Fitbit adjustment you have but make sure to have negative adjustments enabled (just…
  • Logging for 5 years and 15 days now (not every single one of those days but most days) -- 50 lbs lost in 9 months and have maintained that loss for 4 years, 3 months, 15 days and counting!!! Never going to stop cuz NEVER want to gain the weight back.
  • Depends on how they are saying it. There are some people who say it w/a sour puss look on their face.
  • Just pick one scale and stick to it -- will drive yourself crazy if you compare the numbers on different scales.
  • It's been 5+ years (9 months losing and 4+ yrs maintaining) for me so..............my answer is yes. Like the poster above me, I don't ever want to be out of my goal weight range again. It (logging) really does become second nature after a time.
  • Don't trust the machine or MFP for calorie burned numbers. I bust my butt on the elliptical and my Garmin (HRM) says I only burn about (good day) 60% of what MFP or the elliptical says.
  • Try for 1600 on a daily basis and for those days that you are starving allow yourself to go a little higher. When I was losing my last 25 lbs I upped my cals to around 1800 -- took quite a while to lose the weight (6 1/2 months - lost my first 25 in 10 weeks) but it felt easy. I was eating enough that I didn't feel hungry…
  • Nope......scale is usually always the lowest of the week (I weigh daily) after pizza and beer night (often followed by bowl of chocolate ice cream w/peanut butter) which is almost every Thursday. It's the morning that I think the scale will be down (ie busy day prior and end day w/big deficit AND don't eat after supper)…
  • I've used the BMF on/off for over 4 years now (4+ months dieting and almost 4 years maintenance) and swear by it. Jawbone bought BMF over a year ago and you can no longer buy them (unless through 2ndary like Evileen said). Also think you might be waiting a looooong time for the Up3........Jawbone doesn't give anyone an…
  • Seconding the opinion about seeing a doc and getting things checked out. You are working out more than me and eating less than me and I'm a 50 year old woman, 5'6" tall, ~142 lbs. My average calories consumed (during my 4 years of maintenance) is between 2200-2400 daily. My main exercise is running, walking, or elliptical…
  • I'm currently testing out the Charge HR (1st day yesterday) and I LOVE it.. It's calorie burn on my first day wearing was very accurate and since it was a kinda lazy day (sick w/respiratory thing that is affecting my breathing so no workout and only did what I had to for "work") it's one of my main concern kind of days. I…
  • She may have been referring to TrendWeight -- that is what I use w/my Withings scale. I like TrendWeight more than the Withings app/site.
  • My mom and a friend have yeast/fungus troubles and each have found relief by reducing the sugar/simple carbs in their diet. Might be worth a try!!
  • No clue about the calories (gave myself the day off from logging) but..........enjoyed every single bite. Back to logging today............already started w/the pumpkin pie for breakfast but think that is the last of the Thanksgiving day food for me.. Gotta be (reasonably) good until Xmas eve night!
  • Agreeing w/those that are saying you need to up your calories. I'm a 50 year old, 5'6" 143 lb woman and I average about 2300 cals/day. Even when I was in losing mode (been at goal for almost 4 years) I didn't go below 1800 cals (after 1st 10 weeks). I truly believe that part of why people feel hunger is because they aren't…
  • I think it sounds like a very good plan -- very insightful and mature!!! Best wishes to you!
  • Yep they are discontinuing them... Can't buy new ones any longer. Sorry that it didn't prove accurate for you. I'm one of the lucky (90+%) that it is accurate for and LOVE mine.
  • Are you exercising? If so...............you are toning up/building muscle. Muscle takes up less room than fat..
  • Noticed that the other day and kinda forgot about it until reading this post. Just looked back on my exercise/activities and see it's been happening for quite a while (went back about a month) - does it about 3 times in 45 minutes when I'm on the elliptical and did it ALOT when I was doing a Bob Harper dvd workout. I use…
  • Thinking I'd go w/the fried bologna sandwich and the fried twinkie for dessert.. I'm assuming it's vacation so live a little -- worry about the few pounds you might gain (over all of vacation) when you are back home! For the record that is exactly what I do now at maintenance and what I did when I was in weight loss mode--…
  • Are you wearing a HR monitor in addition to using the Vivofit? If so, do you start an activity/workout on the Vivofit when you exercise? Unfortunately if you have Garmin Connect and MFP linked together, any exercise you enter into MFP will transfer over to GC - so you will basically get calorie credit for double the burn.…
  • I agree w/the above poster that it is a good "guide". I think you can be healthy and in the "overweight" category but unless you look like Mr/Ms Universe you are not healthy if in the "obese" (and above) category. My first weight goal was 162 (I'm 5'6") even though I would have still been in the "overweight" category cuz I…
  • 3 1/2 years at goal and still log my food every day (except when on vacation).
  • 50 years old 5'6" tall 142 lbs Generally active days (raise cattle) and cardio (run or elliptical) 5x week Average in the 2200 range during summer and 2300 range in winter (busier w/"work")
  • Eggs are my go to breakfast also -- eat at least 6x week and 2-3 each time.. I've never felt healthier and my yearly test results are good (normal/healthy) -- probably more than most 50 year olds can say. I think (not a doctor so just IMO) your heart health has more to do w/regular aerobic exercise than the amount of eggs…
