 I think my post got lost when the site went down

I have an Aunt who had the surgery and swears by it. She's super changed though - she eats healthy all the time and is a big time runner now :) I also have a friend who opted out of the surgery because of all the side effects. I agree with the previous posters, do your research!! Talk to psychologists, people who have had…

My instructor started as a "Zumba" instructor last year and this year she broke off into her own business and now I go to "Fuzion". It's like Zumba on steroids :) We do all kinds of styles, Bollywood, Hip Hop, Soca and of course Latin! So here are my stats: Weight - 171 Length of class - 50 to 60 mins HRM reading - 486cal…

Yes!!! I really like this show! I was surprised this week at how many of them are getting discouraged - especially that girl who lost 12lbs in a month. I hope they don't quit!
-
I live in Brampton and work in Downtown Toronto! I'm not a runner though....I take Fuzion classes twice a week! http://fuzionworkout.com/

I never knew that bread never expires on a Wed or Sun - neat! Thanks for the info!

My hubby doesn't have any weight issues and was very indifferent to my attempt at losing weight. He also has a mother who has been a member of TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) for oh, 20- years? and she hasn't lost a pound. I don't think he believed I could/would actually do it. Then he started seeing the benefits of my…

I have a watch-only HRM and it DOES take your HR when you put your fingers on the sensors. You have to do it often while you're working out though. I measured my Fuzion (Zumba on steroids) class and I was getting consistently close calorie burned values. Last night I forgot to check my HR for almost the entire class and…

The first time I lost weight I GAINED 1.4 lbs the FIRST WEEK (I joined WW so you can imagine how bad I felt as everyone else had 5+ losses the first week). I kept at it though and lost 52lbs! Don't give up!

This DOES help - thanks! The "marketing ploy" logic makes a lot of sense :)

I overthink everything in my life :)
-
That makes sense! Thanks! I know there are going to me many different opinions on this topic - there always are. I'm not EVER going to stop dancing my *kitten* off, but I would like to know if I have to compensate in other areas to maximize my efforts and achieve an actual loss of *kitten* ;)

The only workout that's worked for me thus far is ZUMBA! I love love love to dance. I spent my 20's in a bar/club dancing 5 nights a week (no wonder I was so skinny!). Now that I have two small kids and a husband, going out partying isn't exactly feasible :) So I found a Zumba class and became HOOKED! I've been going…

Happy Thanksgiving from another Canadian! I guess it makes sense that we're online ;)

I've been on the site for almost a year and I agree, I love it!!!!

I've taken my two daughters (2years and 4 years) to my Zumba/Fuzion class!!! (she doesn't charge me for them) They loved dancing but didn't last the whole class (books and timbits took care of the boredom). Now that they've been, they're super encouraging every time I go. No more whining that they don't want me to leave!…

I just got a bill for $3500 for my taxes last year (friggen accountant didn't know what he was doing obviously). My Christmas budget is toast. I don't care though, it's not about that. It's about singing Christmas songs, pretty lights, good food and spending time with my kids. No school and no work for two weeks, so we're…

Oh yea, tons of us do. The way it's logged varies (I use high impact aerobics) because you're right, there isn't a "Zumba" option.

My suggestion: You need to re-think this process. If one "up" week is going to derail all of your progress, then something hasn't "clicked" because girl, it happens. It's a very real part of the process. You have to be mentally prepared for these gains and know that they're ok, it happens, you can move on from it. This…

Congrats on your new arrival!!! I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old, so what you're going through is VERY fresh in my mind :) I agree with the poster who said you're doing amazing and you need to give yourself a break! 4 months old and you're back to work - that's nuts! (Sorry, I'm from Canada and we have a year off) Your…

I'm with this poster!!!

Amazing! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing and I hope you accept my request to add you as a friend because I am a fellow "slow loser" - don't see many of us around :) I'm taking this slow and steady and am committed for the long haul. Thanks for giving me an example of what that means - success :)

Glad people who have actually worked with Hip Hop adds are responding. Read your post and saw you like dancing and wanted to throw it out there that if you have the support at home and can get out for an hour or so, try Zumba or another "dance" fitness class! OMG so much fun! I was a "clubber" in my younger days, LOVED to…

Great post! I great reminder for those of us who have been around of what MFP has done for us :)

Thanks for sharing - you know me and the word FREE!

I think it *IS* important to teach them about "special occasion snacks!" And yes, I believe they CAN be unhealthy! Could you imagine if we had learned this lesson when we were very young? I think celebrating with "bad foods" is going to come up in EVERYONE's life, so lets prepare them for it!

I have two daughters, 2 and 4. My 4 year old is a skinny minnie and EATS. In fact, she prefers fruit over sweet treats - I think she's like her Mamma and is a salty snacker over sugar. My 2 year old will eat ANYTHING put in front of her. She's only 3 lbs lighter than her sister :) The approach I'm taking is to teach them…

OMG Best response EVER!!! Going to have to use this one - great teaching for my daughters :)
