Then please refute the point with the wealth of evidence you have acquired. I have been waiting. Jump into the pool if you can

You may want to go back to the beginning to get an accurate count of who is being insulted. Blame the instigator not the retaliator. I've yet to see one single post that refutes the idea of a very strong genetic component. Unless you consider smart *kitten* memes, gifs, and personal insults to be evidence.

Actually I have cited 4 scientific articles that address the issue. Your narrow viewpoint on what you read on a forum is not really compelling evidence to the contrary. And continuing to be argumentative "that my brother this", or "my sister that", is really not convincing evidence to dispute the fact that there are…

Here is article that discusses the "genes" involved in obesity. http://healthland.time.com/2013/07/19/news-genes-idd-in-obesity-how-much-of-weight-is-genetic/

Okay doctor: http://www.cdc.gov/features/obesity/ http://hmg.oxfordjournals.org/content/15/suppl_2/R124.full http://healthland.time.com/2013/07/19/news-genes-idd-in-obesity-how-much-of-weight-is-genetic/ ignorance is bliss............
-
Actually that is a direct quote: In other words, being fat was an inherited condition. Go down about 26 paragraphs..............meh
-
And please feel free to go on your merry way as the discussion is clearly above your pay grade. The article references several studies which show the genetic connection to obesity. Its not the only answer, but a huge factor in explaining why so few people who are overweight can sustain their weight loss. Is that so…

It was worth a page of ignorant trolls who "smile quietly" to get to page 2 and intelligent posts like yours. Amazing how so many people have difficulty reading anything more than a twitter tweet and can fail to understand a well written article with scientific references.
-
Thanks for the intelligent post!

Re-read the section about adoptees and twins. Its the nature versus nurture argument. The article is stating that the major causes are more likely genetic and not environmental. That is what I found to be interesting because it goes against what many of the "experts" here think and are spewing.
-
Actually you need only read through this forum to see see how on point the article and studies are. Lose and regain. Rinse and repeat. But lets not argue with science, studies, and statistical data to have an intelligent conversation about weight loss. And why so many people fail in their weight loss quest. They are just a…

Then, I apologize for my earlier post. It seemed that you wanted to lose a lot of weight with out making any real changes to your lifestyle. Caloric deficits are all well and good. I went a little extreme and dropped about 40lbs in 2 months by taking it down to 600-1200 calories a day and fasting. That is why i am a…

I don't have any excuses. I will hit my goal in a month or two. I am just pointing out that the genetic deck maybe stacked against certain people, based on the metabolism that they inherited. It is a somewhat sobering article. You must have missed the point. Not surprising.

My point is that the most important change needs to happen between the ears. When someone starts off with I want to eat junk food, I want to drink, I'm too busy to track my macros, then well.......I have to chuckle. Because they will fail before they ever begin. Its systemic of the "I want results" but I don't want to put…
-
Probably never given your unwillingness to make REAL changes. You want to eat junk food You want to drink You do NOT want to count your macros You only want to cut down to 1200 calories And you want to lose 50 pounds??? If you can't make these types of sacrifices for a few months, its doubtful you will even stick to your…

So on Sunday I went up to 227lbs. I met with a nutrionalist/bodybuilder and he put together a program for me. He echoed much of what was said here: 1- My calorie intake is way to low 2- My carbs are too low 3- I am excercising too much and at the wrong intensity Although he believes my metabolism is messed up he does not…

Setting my goals high. If I whack off 10 its still good....

Another issue is the use of the TDEE as a relevant measure and its actual usefulness. I have used several different calculators and come up with a low of 2590 to a high of 3424. The calculators, methodologies, and the lack of precision estimates for activity levels and intensity make the calculation suspect and borderline…

Thanks. I do take several supplements, multi vitamins, omega, and branch chain amino acids which i neglected to mention. So i think i have that area covered. I am interested in seeing what the testing will show and discussing the issue with a nutrionist and doctor. Right now I am gathering information and appreciate all…
-
Not sure WTF your post means. But I am asking and getting lots of advice. Some of it is quite different. So I am going to take it all in, do some research, talk to a nutrionists, get some testing done and come up with a plan. If you give advice, I'll listen. I may take it or i may reject it. Just because you give advice,…

my recommended tdee is more than double what i am presently consuming. Thats my problem. How to get there? In small steps or all at once.

LOOKING FOR A NUTRITIONALIST OR DOCTOR NEXT WEEK TO TRY AND TEST MY METABOLISM WITHOUT DOING THE CHAMBER THING.
-
MY GOAL IS TO GET OFF 15-20 LBS IN A MONTH.
-
YES. ANOTHER WHO RECOMMENDS A SLOW MOVE UP IN CALORIES. THAT IS WHERE I AM LEANING.
-
Please feel free to re read my list of macros. I weigh, measure, and accurately count every one of them. Feel free to tell me where exactly any one of my numbers is off. I've also left the manufacturers and brands so you can contact them directly if you want to dispute their numbers. Or you can cross reference them to MFP…
-
You have hit the nail on the head! This is the approach I am leaning to and not a massive caloric increase.
-
YES. I AM EVALUATING THE ADVICE NOW. SOME HAVE CONFLICTING OPINIONS WHICH IS WHAT I AM SORTING THRU THKS. SORRY LEFT CAPS ON.

I am looking at 3 weeks of no weight loss and now things are changing to a weight gain on a 1297 calorie diet. That is the trend. I get the day thing. I am talking about a 5 lb gain in 3 days and no weight loss (now a weight gain) over the last 3 weeks. That is a long term trend. But strangely, I do not feel or look…
