Hello and congratulations! I love reading these kind of update. One of my favorite vegan bloggers lives in Mississippi, Susan Voisin, of fatfree vegan. Here's her About Me info: http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2005/12/just-faqs.html I highly recommend her blog and her recipes: http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/ Feel free to friend…

There are probably issues with every single food that is sourced from tropical countries. It's just whether any group has seriously looked into the issue and communicated the issue to the buying public in the United States and other 'developed' countries. Can you clarify what you mean when you say "But that's because the…

Me, too! I always get my vitamins and things from them so I don't have to do my own research to verify that they are 100% vegan. I also buy soy curls from them. Nice people, never any issues with my orders.

There was a great (vegan) blog that featured nothing but images of animals "desiring to be eaten" that were used in advertising. It shut down in 2011, but is still up for viewing. LINK: http://suicidefood.blogspot.com/ And yes, I remember the Charlie the Tuna ads. And if you are interested in the parallel issues of animals…

Would you consider P90X3? I'd love to have some company as I re-start this series.

Feel free to add me...just be aware that sometimes my diary looks non-vegan, but only because I am too lazy to create an entry for the vegan item I am actually eating -- such as the vegan Twinkie I got from a vegan restaurant as a treat. Thanks!

My take on this is that if there were no cats to adopt/rescue, I would gladly not have cats. But since there are cats that need homes, and since they are obligate carnivores, I must take care of them so that they stay alive. Some people have had success with feeding cats a vegan diet, usually homemade, but that has not…

Like others, I recommend Earth Balance, but it is a highly processed, not too healthy food. You can make your own vegan butter (which some vegans do to avoid palm oil/rainforest destruction/orangutan killing) pretty easily. It's not any healthier to make your own, in my opinion, except that there are fewer ingredients and…

The Daiya shreds freeze really well. And you can use them straight from the freezer.

That is so cool to hear about Veganz. My vegan activist friend in Sacramento, CA makes a vegan dog kibble (V-Dog) and she was posting all over FB a few months ago that it was going to be carried in Veganz stores in Germany.

If you're at all adventurous in the kitchen, you might want to look up the vegan cookbook, The Non-Dairy Formulary. It has an excellent vegan mozzarella recipe that is easy to make, but requires one special order ingredient (a special type of carrageenan).

Let's see if if can do this right this time, so my response makes sense! I use y'all all the time, and I'm a native Californian. I think it's a very functional solution to the 2nd person plural. It's a much nicer term than 'youse', which I also use on occasion.

Hi Littlefang! (Cute username! and even cuter avatar!) I've been vegan for 25 years. I'll send you a friend request and then you can see my food diary. Congratulations on going vegan! I used to really be into elaborate vegan recipes, but lately have just opted for simple recipes that involve the least effort. My go to…

At Farm Sanctuary in Orland, CA, the caregivers collect the hens' eggs and boil them, then add these back into the chicken's feed. This is because laying hens have been bred to produce so many eggs that they can easily develop osteoporosis. So this way, they can get back some of the calcium they lose in making the egg…

Great comment FrankieB! Veganhealth.org is my go-to site for questions like this. Jack Norris is excellent at reviewing the bulk of the literature and studies on vegan/vegetarian diets and giving an informed opinion. He does not take just one study and proclaim it to be definitive, which is the case with some health and…

Vegan for 25 years, but first year of serious dieting to lose weight...I'm glad to see other vegans on MFP. Feel free to take a look at my food intake and/or friend me.
