There are also beans salads like black eyed pea, garbanzo, or black bean if you get tired of lettuce/spinach. They kind of break up the routine and give a good dose of protein and fiber.

I make a mandarin chicken salad with spinach, mandarin oranges, celery, almonds, and a ginger dressing. Tasty. Also, spinach, strawberries, pecans, feta cheese, and balsamic dressing. Or, spinach, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, garbanzo beans, olives, feta cheese and greek dressing.

"I'm sorry you can't wear that top at the pool. There are children out here." This told me it is OK for me to be in the inside pool exercising with the other heavy women and the senior citizens, but since I am overweight I am not supposed to be outside basking in the sun.

I started at 11 minutes of low impact aerobics and 10 minutes at level 1 on an elliptical. It was honestly all I could do at first. I'm now running with the kids on the cross country team at school. Start small and build as you are able. Push yourself but don't kill yourself. Strength and stamina will build as you go.…

I drink slim fast, but not as a diet. Sometimes I don't have time or am on the road and just need a "grab and go" so a slim fast and a fiber or protein bar gets me where I need to be. Mostly, I just eat actual healthy food.

I could run without shin splints, I could drop the 15 lbs of lard around my middle, and I had a tan (because tan fat looks better than pasty white fat).

Skinny dipping, hot springs, sweat lodge, or that kind of party...all for it. Downtown in the buckle of the bible belt...not for it.

I work out to Queen and Beastie Boys. Probably not the music you are seeking.

In my early 30's I got married and my husband introduced me to bacon cheeseburgers, french fries, cherry coke, and milk chocolate everything. I gained 50 lbs the first year. Last year I quit smoking and put on another 30 lbs. Almost back down to pre-quitting smoking weight now.

Just ditch him before you spend your life walking on egg shells trying not to make him "furious." Been there, done that, doesn't work.

They really don't know. It's all a big guessing game. First it was fat, then cholesterol, then sugar. Now pesticides, GMO's, food additives, overeating carbs. Why not blame protein for a while?

Yes. I do "cheat days". I save them for dates with my husband and "Sunday dinner" once a month with the extended family. I don't go crazy and pig out on fatty meats, fried foods, and desserts though. On dates we split an appetizer, I get a salad with chicken and reasonable dressing, and we split a dessert. At family…
