  • I think you should try your best to just eat the foods you can imagine yourself eating the rest of your life. Not to say don't have some (I have a fruit smoothie and a veggie juice drink everyday myself), but it should be incorporated into a diet and lifestyle you will follow everyday. Living on juice/smoothies only isn't…
  • I'm not a huge fan of it myself but I find it can be put into mashed potatoes after being steamed and not really take anything away from the mashed potatoes. I also juice some kale fairly often because I find green juice tasty with lemon, don't use juice as a meal replacement thing though. Just a refreshing way to get more…

  • I've been on myfitnesspal almost a year and it was all almost entirely diet alone. However, I wish I had incorporated exercise in that year more often, I think it would have done a lot for my overall health and fitness. That being said I did get a lot of walking done because my campus is huge and my classes tend to be in…
  • You can lose weight on the things they give you by counting the calories. If you have atleast "some" money, you can buy fruits and veggies about to go bad for really cheap typically and then just freeze what you won't use right away. Certain meats you can find in bulk on-sale (like chicken breast), and you can portion it…
  • You can go to places but not order anthything. Or get something small/healthier on the menu if they have it (not familiar with white castle) and get water on the side. If they give you beef for it just tell them your doing what you can to be healthier and they should (hopefully) respect you for it. Basically my advice is…
  • If the package includes the weight of the bone, you should weigh it with the bone. If you use an entry on here that says meat only, then you should just weight the meat. If you dont' want to pull the meat off the leg before eating you can do a quick weigh before you eat, then weigh the bone after and just subtract. Sounds…
  • No, if you want to either switch to the maintaining portion of your myfitnesspal journey and focus on weight lifting (don't worry you won't "bulk up," you can only do that through serious dedication). Or you could a back and forth between bulking and cutting over periods of time to get your desired look then switch to…
  • For the people asking about why people juice. I like it because I hate cooked vegetables and for the most part don't enjoy eating raw veggies except for every once in awhile a salad is nice. However I love vegetables juiced with some lemon, ginger, and apple. Its really yummy and its just a really easy way for me to get…
  • Don't really need to keep track of sodium unless you have a medical need to. In terms of getting some quick calories in, cheese and coconut oil are great ways. Coconut oil is supposedly really good for you and a little bit willl get some quick calories. Could cook it into things, mix it in with dressing and whatnot. The…

  • I like to post/reply to people's walls and whatnot. Will be as supportive as I can. I will warn you though, I'm also the type to give support that sometimes comes with a small nudging reminder when you take it too far. If you only eat a 1000 calories and you work out on top of that. I'm gonna be that friend who will tell…
  • Welcome back feel free to add me.
  • Feel free to add me.
  • Feel free to add me as well (to anyone). I actually am looking to lose 70 pounds to my first goal (I'm 15 pounds in already), but my goal is the top of the chart for max healthy weight on the bmi scale. I will likely want to lose more after that. Just not sure how much yet.
  • It has a lot of natural oils so you need to watch how much you eat like anything else. Weigh loss is about eating less calories than burn. I will say, I take a flaxseed supplement in the morning and a fish oil one at night because they aid in my severe dry eye condition. Omega-3's are important obviously for a lot of…
  • Whey protein is a super great alternative. I always thought I was a carnivore all my life until I joined myfitnesspal and I realized I was sorely mistaken. I have trouble meeting my protein macro, but I think the protein powder has helped a lot. It also taste amazing with milk. I thought maybe .8 per lean body mass was…
  • Well things like nuts are good, but the calories just add up sooooo fast if you feast on them. I hear un-buttered popcorn is a good snack, but have not personally tried it. Baked Kale Chips might be a good alternative if you like that sorta things. Honestly though, if the chewing aspect is what keeps you focused, perhaps…
  • I use a nutribullet to make a lot of different things, the calories are the same vs. eating them whole. I just use it because I like fruity drinks. XD
  • I feel like I'm living your life too because my family sometimes says the same thing to me. Be proud of what you have done and know your doing it at a healthy pace. You always got mfp peeps to cheer you on :P I always looked at weight loss methods as something you should keep to yourself unless asked and let the results…
  • Best thing you can do is to eat the foods you enjoy while keeping in mind your micros/macros. All those shakes do is give you a read-to-go drink that has a set amount of calories. Drinking a 170 calorie shake would be no different than eating any breakfast that matches the same amount of calories. The difference is you can…
  • sodium always effects how much water you retain, so yes.
  • This. Though, I only log the my weight loss into myfitnesspal after losing 2 pounds for whatever reason. I think I've learned a lot about myself and how my body reacts to foods and exercises by watching water weigh fluctations.
  • Not drinking enough water, eating a lot of sodium the day before, etc. Water weigh is perfectly normal and will go away. Sometimes working out causes your muscles to retain water as well.
  • If they are painful, I would go see a doctor.
  • This is going to sound more complicated than it actually is but bare with me. I'm going to give a "making dinner for peeps example." If I am making mashed potatoes for people, I will get my scale (which has a tare feature), put one ingredient in the bowl, note the grams it has, then tare it out and put another ingredient…
  • Honestly, if somebody wants some of the stuff I made and weighed out, I let them. If I give somebody half of my sandwich I weighed out, I will just half the amount I enter on mfp. I know it won't be exact, but it won't be so far off that it will hurt or break my goals either. Same thing, if you are preparing something like…
  • idk, I think the process of losing weight on mfp is making me happier because I feel like I'm slowly becoming a better person as well as a healthier person. I was somebody with no confidence and a lazy procrastinator. That girl is still there but losing weight slowly has shown me I have self control, upped my confidence…
  • I think it is always important to be straight with your doctor about your nutrition and your exercise. HOWEVER, not all doctors know a lot about nutrition, so that kinda sucks. I think, in general, more doctors are learning the importance of it though and are learning up on it.
  • Take the time to read this guide: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants The link it will take you to in that guide is this one: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/819055-setting-your-calorie-and-macro-targets Which explains everything you need to know.
